Rumi ignored her chest squeezing.
“-A stunning girlfriend, Mira. I mentioned her, right? My girlfriend Mira-” The woman stopped abruptly and lowered her head down into her arms. “Jeez, Zoey, stop rambling at the deaf woman.” It was muffled, but Rumi heard it.
Silenced by grief, Rumi’s world is transformed when she crosses paths with Mira and Zoey, who guide her toward a voice she thought was lost forever.

Now make it an AU where Mira puts those skills to an entirely different use at a luxury nightclub where Zoey is also a bartender and make Rumi a younger, hotter, Miranda Priestly (I'd say gayer, too, but I actually think Miranda Priestly is a lesbian icon for all those failed marriages to mediocre men) who gets dragged to the club one night. Then make them fall in love.

“About what?” Rumi answered, looking at her confused.
“She is really cute.”
Rumi huffed, smiling and looking away. “Yeah, and thanks for saving that till after she got out of the car. I was convinced you were gonna say something.”
“Aw, babe. I would NEVER mess with you flirting. Its adorable. Plus, I didn’t mind flirting with her too.” She smirked. “Did you see how NERVOUS she was. Poor thing."
