He looked up at him through half-lidded eyes and followed the trail of his fingers as they traced the contour of Feng Xin's face, smoothing down any remaining tense lines and moving up to the back of his head. Mu Qing buried them in his hair and pulled Feng Xin down, letting his lips hover over his own, trembling in an effort to hold still and not give in to the pull that wanted him to close the last, painful distance between them.
Mu Qing let out a whisper, a confession, a plea...

Summary
Time seemed to slow down as a single raindrop fell onto his outstretched hand.
Feng Xin felt a shift in the air.

Summary
Wei Ying cries out as he’s thrown to the ground like a ragdoll. His head smacks on the rocks, and static colour swarms his blurry, darkening vision. He arches for the breath that was punched out of him, but a weighty claw settles on his chest, slamming him back down, and he heaves short gasps as he’s crushed, trying and failing to push the beast off. It’s like striking a wall.
And then, pain. Pain, nothing like it.
Teeth sink into his arm, and he screams as he feels his tattered bones, shattered, unhealed from the fall , grind together like gravel.

But how was that possible? The Mor’du goes after non-cultivators and the weak. Arguably, Jiang Yanli was the weakest of the crowd. It should have gone for her; instead, it attacked Wei Wuxian.Wei Wuxian, who is supposed to be the strongest cultivator on the mountain.

Summary
Madam Yu decides that the best way to reinstate the severed engagement between her daughter and her best friend’s son would be to publicly punish and humiliate Wei Wuxian in front of the other sects, particularly the Jin. Since he was the one who caused it to be broken, it was the least Wei Wuxian deserved, to remind him of his place. And if it also got back at her husband for allowing the engagement to be broken in the first place, she viewed that as an excellent side benefit.
Unfortunately, she hadn’t considered that other sects might actually snap up the talented disciple that she had planned to only temporarily toss aside. The consequences of that mistake are much farther-reaching than she could have ever imagined.
