Summary
Harry and Tom meet when they're 4 and 8. They grow into (somewhat) friends, with Tom teaching Harry how to read (hes 4, guys) and Harry giving Tom all the shiny silver and gold he can get his parents to give him (a lot. It's a lot).
When Harry eventually starts Hogwarts at 11, Tom is already 14 in Slytherin. And while his social standing might not be top notch, he does still have followers (read: friends).

Summary
Harry's been in love with Sirius for a very long time, and has made no secret about the fact that he wants him. It isn't until a conversation with his best friend, Draco Malfoy, that he comes up with the idea to make Sirius jealous through the use of an old rival.
Sirius just wants to live his life, and wishes that Harry would stop tempting him. Despite graduating from Hogwarts, Harry's too young, and besides, James and Lily would kill him, no matter how much Sirius wants to say yes.
