When someone caught his wrist in a firm grip and stepped in-between him and his target, cutting off his line of vision on them, too angry to think clearly, letting his impulse act for him, Wolfram evoked his fire in his free hand before noticing who was blocking his advance towards his target.
[...] Wolfram felt the fire particles he had collected and condensed over his palm being dispersed against his will, and his power be drained and get dried into his meridians, retracting from his body extremities back to his core like a sudden ebb making the sea retract from the shore.
A surge of panic shook him.
[...] Wolfram’s breath got caught in his lungs for a couple interminable seconds and he gulped before being able to finally exhale. The sage had done the same thing to Yuuri once he was losing control of his powers: the effect was temporary, yet one thing was watching at it from the outside, another entirely was being the one getting drained!
Their eyes met, and the sage’s face was calm and collected, as if nothing happened at all.
[...] They looked into each other’s eyes for around a minute – an interminable minute – until Wolfram’s breath turned even again.
