“Welcome, Unit 895, to the first day of the rest of your lives.” Said Elder McDowell, opening her arms welcomingly.

“I don't care what she would have wanted!” Jupiter snapped, his voice raising as he stood. He felt a brief flash of guilt when Chanda flinched away from him, but he continued anyway, “I don't care! Is that what you want me to say?! I don't care what Rosie would have wanted! I want this!” He jabbed a finger into his heaving chest, breaths shallow and shaky. “I want my sister back! And if I have to die to get that,” He inhaled, blinking rapidly, “Fuck, Chanda, maybe that's fine.” His legs shook and he collapsed back into his chair, pressing his palms into his eyes.
Chanda hesitated, “How long?”
She didn't even have to finish the question.
“I don't know.” He muttered through his hands, “A few months, maybe a year. Maybe ever since she was declared dead.”
