The Oldest archangel was proud of his status. His existence was from God and for God, his only sense of self being an extension of his Father. Naturally, someone just had to come around and ruin all of that.
(In other words, Michael meets Lucifer for the first time and it somehow results in the invention of the snowball fight and written language. The archangels can’t ever do something casually, can they?)
