Summary
On her twenty-fifth birthday, Elinor Dashwood learns an impossible family secret from her mother. The first-born women in their family have the ability to travel back through their own lifetime to relive moments or alter their choices. At first, it’s harmless fun: undo a small mistake, relive the perfect day, escape an awkward situation.
But when her sister, Marianne, becomes involved with the charming yet increasingly elusive John Willoughby, she can’t resist meddling to secure her sister’s happiness, even though each choice risks unintended consequences. One such reset brings Elinor close to the shy, kind-hearted, blue-eyed Edward Ferrars, but it also has disastrous consequences for her sister.

I explored the ending proposed by Jane Austen: three years after the end of 'Sense and Sensibility', we find Elinor married to Edward, and Brandon to Marianne.
But unlike the 'and they lived happily ever after' finale the original plot suggests, temperaments clash and conflicts arise. Due to disappointment in their respective marriages, Elinor and the Colonel grow closer.

Marianne Dashwood was always meant for great things. She was certain that when the time came for her to receive her prophesy, it would be something spectacular. She counted down the days until her sixteenth birthday, finding new reasons to support her belief each day. And indeed, on the day of her 16th birthday, she sees herself being carried away in the rain by a stranger, a voice telling her: "‘It is thus it will happen. A member of the aristocracy will save you from sorrow and death. No two tastes were ever more similar, no hearts so alike, no souls with such a similar path to love." Summary
I love Sense and Sensibility and I love Jane Austen, but I've always been way more interested in the romance between Marianne and Colonel Brandon than the one between Elinor & Edward. Their story isn't told with as much detail, especially toward the end, so this is my attempt to explore what may have occurred between them. Not at all criticizing Austen (imagine!). I totally understand that their romance was not the main focus of the story. I've just always wished I could sort of zoom in on what exactly happens between them during the time between Marianne's illness and their wedding. Particularly with emphasis on how Marianne's character develops and changes.
Anyway, here's my crack at it. Enjoy!
