Summary
Wilhelmina Graham knows storms before they break.
At eleven years old, she runs from her father with no plan beyond away. No coat, no money that matters, no map, and no faith that any adult will believe danger before it becomes proof. The human world offers roads, hunger, police questions, and the possibility of being sent back.
Then the woods change.
Wil steps into Star Dew Valley and finds a farm waiting for her: a rickety cabin, rusty tools, fifteen parsnip seeds, strange gold coins, and a letter from Mayor Hannibal Lecter welcoming the new farmer. The Valley is too green, too watchful, too kind in ways that feel like teeth hidden behind a smile.
But the soil grows food. The door closes. The town buys what she harvests. And for the first time, Wil is not called runaway, problem, or child.
She is called farmer.
This follows Wil’s first desperate days in the Valley as she chooses survival over safety, learns that help can be another kind of claim, and meets the Antlered Mayor who will change the shape of her life forever.
