Summary
“You are not fighting me,” he said, quieter now, studying Elrond’s face.
“I said—” Elrond swallowed, the movement caught under Thranduil’s hand, and the sensation sent another visible shudder through him. His fingers closed harder around the wrist he held, somehow doing more to anchor it in place than get rid of it. “Release me.”
The command lacked its force. Thranduil’s eyes flicked down to the hand gripping his wrist, then back to Elrond’s face, taking in the flush rising along his cheekbones, the uneven breath, the tension that looked nothing like fear. Something like surprise—real surprise—crossed the Elvenking’s face.
“This is...” he murmured, almost to himself, “unexpected.”

Summary
It's been thirty years since Elrond and Thranduil have seen each other. Thirty years since their notorious burning hatred turned into an uncontrollable pull, only to transform into something neither anticipated: a softness, a quietness, an understanding. After three months moving erratically between fire and ice, they left calling each other friend. Now they meet again in Imladris.
