Summary
Katara begins teaching him by running rivulets up and down Aang’s arrows, practicing how to draw streams. Aang teaches her to fly, teaches her what it’s like when your stomach flips in midair.
“This is exhilarating!” she screams.
“Eh, maybe.” He swerves leftward to avoid a patch of fog and he can feel her breathing hasten. “I dunno, I guess you could say it’s the best feeling. It’s freedom.” She’s so close. Her breaths brush against the back of his neck and Aang tries not to think too hard about that.
In an alternate universe without war, where the air nomads survive, Aang meets Katara. He learns waterbending from her and teaches her how to fly on a glider. And, of course, he likes her from the moment they meet.

Nyah looked at the woman's clothing. Water Tribe, from the looks of the furs. It easily could’ve been her mother or aunt lost inside the iceberg. There were jagged burns on her skin, marring her collarbone and neck.

Eight years after the war ends, a fishing boat finds a woman inside of an iceberg near the South Pole. The adults at the South Pole say she looks like Kya. She's injured, but very much alive.
Hakoda, Kya, Sokka, and Katara reconnect, rejoice, and grieve the years that they didn't spend searching for Kya. Aang and Katara also get married along the way.

Summary
Katara stares at him for a second, and after he’s finally gathered his bearings, he says, “I’m Aang!” (with all the grace of a drunken trellephant, he might add) and squeezes her hand back and tries not to stare at her tattoos, dots dancing across her eyes and a line down the base of her chin; ohhhhhhh, pretty, he thinks, almost instinctively.
She teaches him to bend clouds, because his “what do you mean you can’t fly?” is just met with a blank stare and a laugh. She tells him how to dance across the sky, lining the horizon with easy footsteps, skipping through the breezes and when the magic flickers across his palms, fleeting across the nicks on his fingertips it feels like ー like harmony, for some reason.
No War AU. 13-year-old Aang meets two of the Painted Ladies outside of the Southern Air Temple. They build a magical orchard out of the clouds.
