If he had been given a choice, he would have made it different.
He would have given Luke a better family this time, a stronger name, a finer bloodline. He would have made sure that the boy was his by blood again, stamped and sealed under Olympus itself.
A half-blood, after all, was still better than just a mortal.

Summary
At school, they were taught that Guides were gentle. Nurturing. Made to soothe their Sentinels, to ground them, to serve.
They weren’t fighters.
They weren’t strong.
They posed no threat.
The League taught Jason the truth.
Few things in the world were more dangerous—or more terrifying—than a Guide.
Because a true Empath didn’t need to lift a weapon to destroy you. They only had to feel you—deep enough, long enough—and they could take you apart from the inside out.
Or: Having grown up on the streets, Jason thought he already understood the depths of human suffering. But awakening as a Guide shattered that illusion—because knowing pain was one thing. Feeling it, in all its raw, unfiltered truth from everyone around him, was something else entirely.

She had died in that suit. Bled in those colors. Burned for the symbol on her chest. And in less than six months Bruce had handed her place to someone else. Not another lost kid who knew the streets, who knew hunger and rage like she did. No. He’d chosen a boy. A boy with wealth, with schooling, with doors that had always been open to him. A boy who fit into Bruce’s world so easily, so seamlessly, while she had scraped and clawed for every scrap of approval. Everything she had never been good enough for—Tim Drake was, by default.
The memory still cut. It always would. Because the Joker had lived. Because she had died. And because Bruce had moved on.
Her lips curved into a smile, though there was nothing kind about it. “So you’re the one,” she said softly, bitterly. “My replacement.”
Jane Todd came back to Gotham with a bang—or more accurately, the Joker’s head mounted on Arkham’s gates. It was only the beginning of the chaos she intended to bring.
