Izuru looked at her, studying how she curled into herself at just the possibility. "That's okay," he said, "You don't have to see him."
"I don't?" Chiaki echoed. "But... he has luck. What if he runs into us?"
"I have luck, too," Izuru said, before he swooped her off of her feet, into a bridle carry. "We will not encounter Nagito Komaeda in Towa city if you do not wish to."
Chiaki leaned her head against his chest, tracing her finger where his heart would be with lidded eyes. "Thank you, Izuru."
Izuru paused. It might be the first time she's truly thanked him.

Summary
It wasn't the first time she's kissed her. The first time, Chiaki had frozen, stiff as she pulled her hair and positioned her like a doll. Her first kiss—gone, just like that, her lips bitten harshly. It was a violent kiss, nothing like how she wanted, Junko pressed close to her, imprinting her filth upon her. Instead of Hajime, gentle and fumbling, her first kiss was taken from her and stolen by the girl she hated the most, nails digging harshly into her still healing wounds.
Junko liked doing it, Chiaki thought, because she liked taking things away from her, exerting her control. Chiaki was well aware that Junko Enoshima did not love her, but the girl got a kick at pretending otherwise. What Junko felt for her was best categorized as a flighting fancy, a kid in love with breaking their toys more than the toys themselves. She loved her despair; not her, herself.
Jadedly, Chiaki can't help but think this has always been the case. That people fell in love with aspects of her, instead of a whole. That while Junko Enoshima loved her despair, her classmates had only loved her hope.
(And when that hope failed them, they didn't think twice about leaving her.)

Chiaki Nanami comes across an apple. An apple in the fountain she and Hajime frequent, bitten into and then disregarded.
She stares at it numbly. It should be mundane, but to Chiaki, it is a violation. Who was here, she wonders? Who invaded her place with Hajime Hinata?
She goes to the trashcan. There, there is a girl. The girl blinks when she sees her.
"What are you doing here?" Chiaki Nanami asks flatly. The girl blinks, once again, like an owl. Chiaki asks it like she asks anything else. Chiaki asks it like the gamers in her game do, sometimes, when they try to appeal to her with childish sentiments she'd rather not listen to, nor learn from. She says it blankly, in the same tone she'd say "Hello," and "I hate you," and "I love you," and "Goodbye." The same way she'd say, "I'll kill you," or "Come with me."
Is this girl for real? The girl thinks, Chiaki can see it written on her face. The question everyone always seems to ask at some point.
Are you even real, Chiaki?
She doesn't know, nor care.
"There shouldn't be an apple here, I think."
