Buck can’t even deny it. He’s freaking out. Hard.
“Public record, Buck.” Eddie is hissing through both hands planted over his face.
Under them, Buck’s sure, his cheeks are bright apple red. Because they really, really should have paid more attention. It’s just that everything is so new. And finally being allowed to touch Eddie is such a fucking headrush that Buck can’t seem to keep his damn hands to himself. Nor does he seem to be able to keep his filthy fuckin’ mouth shut.
Not even on camera, evidently.

“Look, I’m not like, crazy,” she insists, leaning forward with an intense earnestness in her eyes that makes Buck a little wary of accepting that statement at face value. “He just seemed like he needed it. And well, I’m an actress, I could give him that. He deserves any help I could give.”
And just like that Buck finds himself nodding along. Because of course. She’s right– not about her being what Eddie needs, because Buck is pretty certain that’s never going to be the case– but about Eddie. Eddie absolutely deserves every good thing in this world. It makes complete sense that Kim would at least try to help with that.
Who would meet Eddie and not want to give him the world?
It’s what Buck would do, after all.

Summary
Buck is frozen, terrifying in his clinical assessments and empty expression. Eddie is drowning. In the guilt, in the grief– it doesn’t really matter, because whatever it is, he’s on his own. No matter how close he gets.
But Eddie still needs. Even though Buck isn’t asking. Even though Buck is rapidly building up walls that will shatter instead of crumble and cause collateral damage on the way down. God help him, but Eddie still needs.

Instead of grieving together like they really need, Buck and Eddie hook up. Over, and over, and over.
