Summary
A year ago, Clary's life changed forever when her mom died in a fire that also destroyed their home. Since then, she's been trying to piece her life back together, including by starting art school. But something just isn't right. Her doctor and therapist both say it's trauma, but what they're telling her just doesn't match with what's happening in her head.
Her memories feel wrong. There's something not quite right about them, but she doesn't know what it is.
Then she sees a woman in a coffee shop. Despite having no memories of this woman, Clary swears she's familiar somehow. When Clary sees her a second time, she introduces herself, determined to discover what it is that draws her to the woman. She finds out that the woman's name is Isabelle, and Isabelle reveals that much of what Clary remembers about her life is a lie.
