Summary
He looked at the scroll in his talons, filled up on both sides, and… for all the flaws he thought it still had, he was actually kind of excited about it. He wanted to keep writing, he WANTED to imagine more of this world. It was an old feeling, but it felt sort of new now that he was ACCEPTING it instead of pushing it down yet again.
Even if this resurgence of interest in writing was temporary, though, Turtle figured he may as well enjoy it while it lasted. No pressure, and certainly no more stopping himself.

Turtle starts writing again, and is super excited about it!! But every writer needs a reader, too!
(AKA I read Escaping Peril not long ago and all the mentions of Peril not being able to read any scrolls crawled into my brain and coalesced into this story.)

Summary
It was fun to write, and surprisingly it was fun to share his writing, too. He’d still only shared it with Peril, twice now—the second time he lied about borrowing the next chapter from the mystery student who had it checked out from the Jade Mountain library.
But the story was really starting to pick up now; Turtle had moved past writing the introduction and characters into actually developing the story with this third chapter.
Which meant that he was running out of excuses to not tell Peril that this scroll didn’t actually exist anywhere in the library.

The memories felt at once too fuzzy and far too crisp. She could mentally see Turtle leaving for the library, saying he needed more paper and he’d be back in a pinch; she could see his tail whipping around the corner; she could see herself waiting, and then settling down on the floor.
She didn’t know exactly what had happened in between.
She didn’t know how she could have let this happen.
Because as she’d sat down, she must have touched the edge of one of Turtle’s scrolls.
