Summary
It’s Phil who asks him to go.
‘It’ll be good for you, Tommy.’ He said, as if he knew Tommy past the awkward conversations and the file that had been handed to him as he was dumped on their doorstep.
As if he knew Tommy past the anger and the trauma that he wore so blatantly but no one had bothered to do anything about. Deciding it would be better to leave it to him to handle on his own even when it was clear to any one with half a brain that he was drowning in it.
He doubted it would be anything other than an inconvenience that he had to deal with two times a week but he agreed anyway, to make Phil happy and maybe, if did help, that wouldn’t be so bad because he can’t keep living like this, really.

Summary
“Toms,” Wilbur turns his attention to him for the first time since being home. They’ve been here for hours. “How’s school? You still struggling with maths?” An innocent question, a stupidly innocent question that Wilbur asks to be nice, to be pleasant, to catch up with his baby brother.
“I haven’t had any calls from his teachers recently, so he must be.” A joke, he knows Phil is joking but it twists his heart in the wrong direction and shatters any shards of hope Tommy had left for his family.
“I’m in college, for video editing.” He says, because he is, and they don’t seem to know that. “I passed maths with an A.” He frowns, picking up his fork and using it to grab a piece of the garlic bread and dropping it on his plate. “Like two years ago.” He adds.
The silence is unpleasantly loud, it’s far more familiar than the laughing. He almost feels bad.
Almost.

Summary
“What are you doing in here?” Tommy’s voice comes from behind him, it makes him jump and his cheeks redden in embarrassment for getting caught. He knows Tommy hadn’t wanted him in here, this space was his own and here Wilbur was, in all his glory, tainting it by being a stranger in a room he never should have forgotten.
“Where did the red go?” He asks instead of answering. “You begged dad for weeks to let you paint it.” Because while six year old Tommy thought it was the pinnacle of good design, Phil had thought a room full of bright red walls would give him a headache everytime he walked in.
“I painted over it.” He says, lifting a half empty box from the floor to his desk. He opens the draws and starts putting everything from it into the box. He’s not checking what any of it is, but he’s taking everything, like he has no plans of coming back (because he doesn’t, the terrible voice at the back of his head whispers, he never wants to be here again). “Ranboo and Tubbo helped.”
“I don’t like it.”

Summary
When Technobalde was eight years old he found out he was getting a brother. When he was still eight years old his family finally fell apart. And when he was nine he punched someone in the face for the first of many times. The asshole deserved it, in his very unbiased opinion.
Afterwards, when his nose was bleeding and his knuckles were bruised and his ego even more so, Phil had taken him to the bathroom, sat him on the counter and cleaned the injuries with love and care and far more patience than he deserved, really.
He wonders if Tommy ever got that same patience or if he was left to deal with injuries on his own, if Phil had learned to drown out the sound of the crying child because from what he remembers the boy never stopped.

Summary
Tommy, as a person who never particularly found comfort in his father, tends to stay the hell away from his room. The deep purple walls and the draws full of items that aren’t theirs, the picture that once belonged in the dining room back in a frame but left leaning against the wall in the corner, the family photo on the dressing that’s from a trip before he was born, artwork and old tests but none from him.
There's a layer of dust settled over the picture, along with half the room. One side of the bed is messy. The other hasn’t been touched. He hasn’t been in here in a long time, he used to come running through the door, in a mess of tears and snot and a stuffed animal clutched in his hand with the nightmares still in his mind.
It’s been a long time since that, too. The nightmares never stopped but the comfort did, the line is blurry, where hugs and comfort turned to cold shoulders and years of neglect or if there was ever comfort to begin with.

“So,” He begins, Tommy looks up from his hands, Techno is sitting on his right and Wilbur is next to Tommy. They look up too, from their phones where Phil is sure they were talking to each other. “How have you been? How’s Ranboo and Tubbo?” He asks, because it’s all he can do really.
“Good, they’re good.” He replies nervously, Phil gives what he hopes is a supportive smile, a smile that says go on, talk, I want to hear what you have to say, I love you. He’s not sure how much of that was clear but Tommy continues to talk, so it’s something. “Tubbo just finished this big project at uni, made a big fuckin’ robot it’s amazing.” He’s smiling more than Phil can ever remember seeing before. “Ranboos gone home to see his mums for Christmas, Tubbo went with.”
“Good, that’s great.” Phil smiles.

Summary
They’re at a stalemate.
Phil is sat across from him, the table a barrier between them. It’s protecting them from each other, waiting silently for someone to make a move and ready to stand in the way. Wilbur and Techno aren’t in the house, he wouldn’t want them here for this, when the standoff ends and one of them draws their sword, takes out their gun, says the first word that will damn them both. This is not their battle, not their argument.
Phil’s disappointed because of him, and angry, and fucking pissed, because that’s somehow different though the repercussions are always the same and he ends up shutting himself in his room for the next week to avoid that one disappointed look that all parents have nailed down and-

Wilbur finds him in the garden the morning after the fight. His youngest brother is crouched at the furthest end, head rested on his knees with one arm wrapped around them and the other gently reaching out to the only patch of flowers that have survived.
He goes to make a move, to go over and talk and apologise too maybe but he stops himself when someone speaks from the phone he hadn’t noticed in Tommy's left hand.
“No Tommy you can’t-” The voice is cut off by his brother who speaks much gentler and Wilbur has to strain to hear him. He shouldn’t be eavesdropping.

He knows it’s getting bad when at fourteen years old Tommy finds himself sitting in a train station of a city he doesn’t know with his phone in his hand staring at a contact that has never replied to any of his messages.
He stares, and stares, and stares, and stares before his hand moves of its own volition, clicking call before he can stop himself and dreading both outcomes to the results of a test with no right answers. It rings. He shouldn’t be here.
It’s two o’clock on a Wednesday, he should be in class. It’s still ringing. Maybe he should hang up? He’s obviously not going to pick up and Tommy really shouldn’t have skipped school, maybe his teachers called Phil and then he’d really be in deep shit because not only will he have detention but he’ll have to deal with whatever punishment his dad gives him too, which would not be good. Not that Phil is home enough to answer the phone but still-
“Hey!” The ringing stops. He answered.
