“Excuse me!” Jaskier replied, quite ruffled by the Witchers statement. “I may not be as freakishly muscled as you are, Geralt, but that doesn’t mean I’m not perfectly capable of helping you.”
“Didn’t say you weren’t capable of helping.” Geralt replied between bites of the food he’d been served. “Just that you don’t look strong enough to carry me a long distance.”
_________Or: Instead of meeting in Posada, Jaskier (fresh out of Oxenfurt Academy) comes across an injured Geralt in the woods.

“Its been months, and I don’t even know your name.” Geralt gruffed, not at all expecting a reply.
“Jaskier.”
The word cut through the air like the most fragrant of perfumes, carrying the scents of raspberries and green apples, winding themselves around Geralt like a blanket.
“My name is Jaskier.”
Or: Geralt stumbles across a fae boy that will not leave his side. Feelings ensue.

Summary
Jaskier no longer cried when thinking of Geralt. The first few weeks, he’d sobbed himself to sleep. Eventually, his tears had run dry, all the sadness drained, leaving little else behind but anger.
That anger had stayed with him, as he headed towards the coast. Fuck Geralt. Jaskier was determined to find out what pleased him, and he didn’t need that cantankerous bastard at his side to do it. He’d go to the coast alone; hoping to find a new purpose there. A new life.
One that very firmly did not involve Geralt of fucking Rivia.
Or: Jaskier builds a life for himself after Geralt sent him away; only for Geralt to seek him out when he'd finally accepted his fate.

“I need a favor.”
“No.” Geralt grunted immediately, shoveling more of the stew he’d been served into his mouth.
“You haven’t even heard it.” Yennefer snapped, arms crossed over her chest as she watched the Witcher scarf down his food. “My gods Geralt, no one is going to take that away from you, slow down.”
Geralt ignored her with another grunt, finishing the stew with gusto. It’d been a while since he’d had anything but his own hunting to feed himself with.
“I’ll buy you another, if you agree to at least listen.” Geralt scowled, but the tug in his stomach made the decision for him. No harm in hearing her out, at least.
