Summary
Dabi is back, and if Hawks didn’t know better, he would say that the villain's expression looks confused. Dabi’s hand gestures around his own scarred mouth, where a smirk is slowly growing.
“You’ve been busy,” he greets, and at first Hawks doesn’t even know what he’s talking about, but he knows that it’s not the impressive stack of completed paperwork on his desk. Tentatively, he raises his own fingers to his mouth and rubs lightly before looking down at them. They’re a bright red, too artificial to be blood, but his stomach still lurches at the sight. Hawks almost wishes that it was blood.
“So, what, am I too ugly for ya? There ain’t no way that you’re straight,” Dabi’s smiling like a cat, the wide smile making the staples in his skin pull, and it’s just unsettling enough, and Hawks is already at the end of his rope enough to just tell someone.
“I couldn’t move.”
Obviously, that was not the response that Dabi was expecting.
Or: Hawks works through some stuff and Dabi calls him a bitch (said softly, with love) as he does it.

Summary
He wishes that he didn’t have to go back to the commission, to his Handlers, to being a symbol of freedom bound in chains. But, realistically, what else is he going to do? Admitting it, even quietly to himself, sends sharp pains through what’s left of his own sense of belonging, but he can’t stay here.
As friendly as the league is, as much as they seem to almost care, as much as he wants them to, they’re too different from him. Hawks is a hero, and the others-
They just aren’t.
They’re not really villains anymore, not to him, but they aren’t good; they kill people.
Hawks ignores the part of him that screams that he’s killed people. It’s not that it doesn’t matter when he kills someone, it’s not, really, but he has orders. The league has each other, and he has orders.
So he needs to go back.
Or: Hawks still doesn't think the league cares, so they burn down the commission to show him they do
