Description:

During a random encounter in LaGuardia Airport, Stephen Strange ran into the daughter of a doctor who he admired, Edmund Hooper, and found out her father was dying. Edmund wanted his daughter Molly to be married before his death, and on a whim, Stephen agreed to be her husband to make her father happy. It was a whirlwind marriage, and after her father's death they went their separate ways and life happened, with both of them forgetting about the spur of the moment nuptials.

Fifteen years later, Stephen became the Sorcerer Supreme and Molly wanted to get married to someone else. When Molly turns up at the Sanctum Santorum demanding an annulment so she can marry her fiancee Tom, it poses some complications for both of them...especially when it turns out that there may be more between them than just a marriage certificate on paper.

Notes:

An MCU/BBC Sherlock AU set after an AU version of "Infinity War" for the MCU and a post-"The Sign of Three" AU of BBC Sherlock. Molly has gotten engaged to Tom, but her marriage to Stephen from fifteen years prior keeps her from getting her marriage license, so she goes to New York to get an annulment, later finding out they need a divorce instead. During her stay in New York some truths between her and Stephen come to light, and when her engagement to Tom ends she and Stephen decide to get the divorce but also make a go of a relationship between them.

To help with timeline confusion on the MCU side of things: Instead of "Infinity War" and "Endgame" happening the way they did (as this was written before "Endgame," I'm borrowing an idea I saw where the people affected by the Snap were trapped in the Soul Stone), Stephen used the Eye of Agamatto to send everyone back to a time before "Thor Ragnarok" after the Snap was reversed (Tony lived through the process of reversing the Snap in this AU, BTW) with some changes to the timeline and the knowledge of other Marvel characters of what happened to them. It's now 2016 for him, two years earlier, but Molly had continued to stay engaged to Tom after "The Sign of Three" in a canon divergence until they attempted to get a license.
