    falconry extended metaphor !!! falconry mentioned !!!!
    falconry has been a special interest of mine a couple times and i like to think i know a bit about it lol. and obviously theres plenty of merlin fics where people bring up the merlin=falcon thing but this is the first ive read where it was like THIS !! FALCONRY GLOVE MENTIONED !!! JESSES MENTIONED !!!! i got way too excited about the tiny details in that one paragraph lmao. this is the first time ive read a fic that mentioned the word jesses. thank u for catering to my extremely specific desires

    also the rest of the fic was fantastic. those were 40k words well spent. arthur really, really struggling to get his head around non-evil magic (and now he has to deal with merlin fucking up his nice status quo and somehow he has to not kill merlin but why did merlin feel the need to make not killing him complicated). merlin willing to do a lot of things in the name of self-preservation. gwaine being supportive. mordred being. maybe an ally? maybe gonna be evil anyway? not sure? basically all of the characters felt very believable. 40k words easily read.

      Not gonna lie, when I started reading your comment and saw that you knew shit about falconry I was like oh shit oh shit oh shit fuck what did I mess uppp. So I'm relieved that you LIKED it! And like, thank you for noticing LMAO. I did a bit of research into falconry for that bit because I thiiink what happened was that I realized I wanted a falconry motif but didn't actually know anything about falconry. It's the same for like, anything to do with horses in this fic haha! So ANYWAY I am actually THRILLED that you noticed those details and got excited—I did not know you were the target audience for that motif I know now!!! Target audience reached!!!
