  1. I have panic attacks, and I also have anxiety. The thing with Regulus seems to me like something different. I was raised with a mother who gaslit me most, but everyone sometimes, whose grasp on Actual Reality was nebulous. I haven't almost drowned, but I have, in despair, wondered about letting myself drown. On a long ago ski trip, as a teenager, i got separated from my family for hours, and I seriously considered skiing into a forested area and just... walking away from them. Pretending I'd lost my memory, just trying to 'start over' with strangers. Reluctantly I decided that was crazy, that there were probably rangers looking for me, that everyone would be so worried. So I walked down the mountain, located my family with some relief, and... they hadn't even noticed I was gone. No one was looking for me. I was crushed that I hadn't tried my crazy plan.

I have a feeling your Regulus and Sirius would understand me, and I them. Unfortunately.

I do love all the water imagery. It's the snare you can't quite *want* to resist: just floating... away.

    1. Sorry for the late reply, but thank you very much for your comment! I can see that this story seems to hit close to home for you, and I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you are okay.

I tried to avoid writing Regulus's episodes in an overly clinical way, what with the magical memory loss and everything, but they are meant to be akin to panic attacks, yes.
