And Ava’s brain scrambles to catch up.
He never spars with any of them. Never. Yelena teased him about it once or twice. Walker challenged him outright more than thrice. Alexei provoked him almost daily during lunchtime. The answer is always the same flat, boring no. So Ava never even bothered asking.
And now… this? With her?
She narrows her eyes, almost accusingly. “Why?”
“Well,” he says, “you can’t exactly hit Walker right now. No matter how much you want to.”
She just stares at him.
Bucky shrugs. “You wanna work out the noise in your head? Don’t use the bag. Hit something that hits back.” His mouth twitches. “That’s me.”
