Tony Stark is a recovering weapons dealer, the Avengers sponsor, and maybe, just maybe, the most hated billionaire in his own Tower. Under their noses, he saves people as Iron Man, and the stress of such opposite lives weighs on him. The hero or the scapegoat? People only see one.
Steve Rogers has one goal, and it’s to keep his team safe. From the original members, Jan, Clint, Thor, to the secretive ones, like Iron Man. There are two types of people in his life, really. Subordinates and superiors. One night, after a battle, though, he gets drunk. He loses a bet. Tony Stark wakes up to a proposition, but he knows the truth: it’s fake. He can also use it to his advantage and escape the role he’s playing for the Avengers, finally enter their world as his real self and not a secret identity. Guilty about the bet, Steve agrees.
On their own, neither one of them would end up where they go. But circumstances demand: they build something easily breakable, soft and trusting. But nothing is real: Not Tony, who is also Iron Man, not their fuckbuddies relationship, and definitely not Steve, who wants nothing more than to isolate himself.

“You could have said anything!” Jaskier shrills at him. “Did you have to tell him that— That I was—”
“My Nilfgaardian love slave?” Geralt prompts helpfully.
“THAT!”
And Jaskier watches, transfixed, as a slow dirty smile curls up the side of Geralt’s mouth. “What? You don’t think you’d like it?”

Summary
The start of Jaskier's winter position at court is celebrated with a grand ball dedicated the artists brought in for the winter. But not all goes as planned when another guest recognizes him. Backed against the wall and faced with the threat of marriage, he spits out the first lie to comes to his mind and claims he is already married - to Geralt, of all people. To his immense surprise, Geralt goes along with it. In doing so, he commits to spending the winter by Jaskier's side and playing the doting husband. It's fortunate he does, because court seems more dangerous than Jaskier remembered. Monsters lurk in the corners and danger lurks behind every door. Without Geralt there, he might have been frightened. With Geralt, he's more concerned by his own growing feelings for the witcher. Can he get through the winter without Geralt catching on?

Summary
In Jaskier’s defense, he hadn’t actually believed Geralt would come looking for him eventually, so he figured that telling his mother that the Witcher was the father of the child he was carrying would be a completely harmless lie.
