The lost spider

Chapter 12: Chapter twelve

Chapter Text

It was the next day, and it was late in the morning. Peter was in that asleep-but-awake state where his eyes were closed, but he was still aware of his surroundings.

He heard his door open and soft footsteps coming closer. He then felt his bed dip and a hand settle on his back.

“Pete. It’s time to get up,” Tony said softly.

“Mmmm,” was Peter’s response.

“Come on, kiddo. It’s time for you to eat breakfast. Then you can meet the rest of the Avengers,” Tony told him.

“Five more minutes,” Peter mumbled into the pillow.

“Okay, I’ll give you five more minutes, but then it’s time to get up.”

Peter gave a content sigh and shifted into a more comfortable position. He continued to stay in that half-awake state until Tony was gently shaking him again.

“Come on, kiddo. It’s time to get up.”

“Ugh, fine.” Peter sat himself up and rubbed his eyes.

“Okay, bud. You get dressed and brush your teeth. Then we’ll meet the others, okay?”

Peter nodded as he went to his bathroom to get ready.

Fifteen minutes later, Pete came out dressed and with fresh breath. Tony wrapped an arm around him, and they headed to the common room to meet the others.

Everyone was sitting on the couch, and the father-son duo made their way over and sat down on the empty couch.

“Hey, you two,” Steve greeted.

“Hey, Spangles,” Tony replied.

“Hi,” Peter said quietly.

“So you must be Peter?” Steve said, looking at the boy.

“Yes. It’s u-uh, nice to meet you, Mr. Captain America sir,” Peter said with a look of awe on his face.

Steve smiled.

“You can call me Steve.”

After the rest of the team had introduced themselves, they made their way over to the table to eat breakfast.

“Okay, I have to ask this,” Sam said, looking at Peter.

Peter cocked his head to the side.

“At the airport, was that stuff coming out of you?” he asked.

“I also want to know that,” Bucky added.

Peter shifted a little and blushed.

“Yes,” he told them.

“Hey, I’m literally part spider. Hence why my name is Spider-Man,” he continued.

“He’s got a point,” Natasha said.

They ate their breakfast and asked Peter more questions about Spider-Man, his hobbies, and other things.

“So, uh… how did it go yesterday?” Peter asked while everyone made their way back to the couches.

“You don’t need to worry about that,” Tony told him.

“Are they dead?” Peter asked.

After a moment of silence, Tony answered.

“Yes,” was all he said.

“Good,” Peter replied.

The rest of the team spent the day watching movies, eating ice cream, and just letting Peter heal.

Peter was thankful for everything Tony had done for him over the past few months, and he would never take the man for granted.

As they sat on the couch, Peter rested his head on the older man’s chest and wrapped an arm around his middle. Tony returned the gesture by wrapping his own arms around the boy and bending down to kiss the top of his head.

“Love you, Dad,” the boy whispered.

“Love you too, bubba.”
