Previously on Hazel Wells' Fairly Odd Life

Sunday, afternoon in Dimmadelphia. Hazel and her new friend, Vi were in the apartment watching a certain show that Hazel loves

"Thanks for letting me watch Steven Universe with you, Hazel. I can't believe mom won't let me watch this!" Vi exclaimed while petting Daisy

"I can't believe your mom doesn't understand the beauty of this show!" Hazel complained "This is a show about change, all the characters' character development was because Steven saw the good in them... even Peridot! She started out as a bad guy, now she's one of the crystal gems!"

"Spoilers!" Vi shouted, as they have only been at half of season two. A few moments passed in silence, until the violinist spoke up "My mom thinks it's a bad influence because of it's 'homosexuality' and the 'inaccurate portrayal of gems'."

Hazel gapped like a fish out of water in disbelief, finally snapping back to normal after a good five seconds "Are you kidding me? This show started my entire passion for rocks! That's why I know so much about them." she exclaimed truthfully

"Nope, totally serious..." she rolled her eyes annoyed. Not at Hazel, but her mom (sigh) "To have parents who are too busy to watch over you," Vi looked at her friend "You're living my dream..."

"Eh, it's not exactly peachy either..." she looked up to the imaginary thought bubble that gives a flashback to when her parents ignored the hijinks when Cosmo and Wanda were introducing themselves. She felt a little annoyance at her parents not listening to her, but that was too long ago, not really worth discussing now, it'll only dampen up the mood "Soooo~" Hazel tried to steer the topic back to the show "How about we finish the rest of season 2??"

As soon as Hazel was done talking, Vi's phone started to ring. Picking it up, her mom was on the other side of the line. "Hello? Mhm! Okay, I'll be there." The call ends abruptly with Vi's face showing a frown "Sorry Hazel, but I gotta go. Mom's almost here and we need to attend an assembly about 'how people will turn to evil without proper guidance'."

Vi sighed sadly before perking up, realizing that a certain purple haired fairy isn't with them "Hey, where's Peri?"

"Huh? Didn't he tell us? He went to get his wand checked out."

"No, I think he didn't" Vi was confused "Also-- why? His wand seems just fine"

"I think he requested an appointment during the dinosaur incident--" the two stared at the girl "don't ask. --And only now got one"

"I think I'm missing context here."

"..."

All of a sudden,  Angela's voice can be heard shouting from the kitchen: "Vi! your mother's here!"

"Ah, I guess this is it" She quickly hugged her friend and waved her goodbye, grabbing her violin on her way out

As Hazel waved goodbye aswell, she continued watching the her favorite cartoon until 3 hours later when Peri poofed beside his godchild.

"I cant believe I forgot to cancel that appointment" he rolled his eyes

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"Nothing!" he said, panicked "Turns out the thing that kept zapping Bary was a 'totally coincidental outside force' that I only learned when..." He couldn't say he talked to Daisy, she was supposed to be with Cosmo and Wanda at that time "...I talked to Bary and he said that the shock he felt belonged to the electricity rocks, not the wand malfunctioning" he wanted to facepalm himself he only learned about it two days later, when he was telling the story to the dachshund and she told him that she and her nemesis were the ones that caused the scenes, but by then he already requested an appointment

"Jeez, also, when did you find the time to talk to Bary?"

"Oh, about that..." Gosh, Hazel! You just had to ask that, didn't you? Luckily, Peri is fast at thinking fake excuses, he just hope it works well on Hazel like it did his parents "...It was while you were sleeping, and I was looking for someone to talk to"

Hazel tilted her head. Was he hiding something? Meh, it's rude to pry in regardless "O-kay... I guess..." Hazel checked the time "Oh what? Its 6pm already??? Wow, time flies when you're having fun, huh."

"Hazel, dinner!" mom shouted

"Coming, mom!"

Fast forward to the next day

Hazel woke up, quickly changing to her usual outfit "Ah, mornings!" her joyful mood quickly turned sour upon realizing "Oh right..." she groaned "it's a school morning... that means I have to deal with Dev..." as she said that, her godparent appeared next to her

"Who knows, maybe he skipped school today" Peri tried to lighten the mood

"If only..." she groaned while making a face that can only be described to look like the disappointed face emoji "His bullying got worse when I befriended Vi"

"Don't tell me you're gonna end your friendship with her." he said sarcastically

"What? of course not! Vi is my first real friend ever since I got here."

Peri raised an eyebrow, as if expecting something

"Besides you, of course" the godchild added "Be-sides, a little bullying can't ruin my perfect attendance

Hazel asked to go to the bathroom, only to go to the janitor's closet (which was always devoid of janitors for some reason) "I wanna skip school tomorrow..." she said flatly

"I thought a little bullying won't ruin your perfect attendance" Peri said with a little sarcasm in his voice

"I know..." Hazel groaned "It's just-- I just want to leave this place!"

"Where are you even gonna go?" he noticed Hazel's eyes widening then grinning loudly "Oh no, oh no no no. Hazel, I don't know what that look means but i just know it's something really dangerous!"

"How's about we go... to Steven Universe?"

"Hazel, dimensional travel is extremely problematic, especially after what happened 20 years ago..."

"Huh?"

"So basically, the first time, fairy world almost got taken over, the second time, Friday the 13th almost became permanent, and the third time, everyone was locked up in a flat space where there's this bad guy who adapted to every attack you make" While Peri himself was not present at the time, he heard stories from Timmy and his parents about their encounters with the three-dimensional people.

"Gee, that sound like a lot" Hazel irked

"Aaand that's why we avoid dimensional travel! The end."

"Okay... I won't go to the Steven Universe dimension" Hazel rubbed the side of her arm sadly

"Good, now let's get to the classroom. we don't want to stay here for long"

Hazel returns, only for the class to be empty except for Mr. Guzman "Oh, Hazel! It's already lunch time"

"Really?" she checked the time by using a pocket watched she magically pulled out of her imaginary pockets to reveal 11:03am "Oh, I never really noticed. Anyway, bye Mr. Guzman!" she said, grabbing her backpack and heading straight to the cafeteria. She instantly spotted Vi sitting alone and went to sit right next to her "Hey, Vi" she said quickly

"Oh hey." she said in a soft tone

"Sooo~ how's the assembly?" she asked curiously

"Pretty boring to be honest" she replied flatly

"Wow,"

"When you asked to go to the bathroom earlier, was it because of Dev?"

"Yeah... I even wanted to go to the Steven Universe dimension because of it" she chuckled sheepishly

"Hm... I see...." Vi noted "So what stopped you?"

"Peri being his usual self" Hazel joked

Vi responded with another hum

"Wow, this is really awkward" Hazel said in a low voice

"I'm not that good at conversing" Vi admitted, showing a hint of awkwardness

"It's okay, I'm also not that good at talking to other people " Hazel winced

"Heh, that's why we're friends." the violinist said happily

"Still, i really want to go to Steven Universe, it would be so cool!"

"Hmm," Vi looked around

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, it's just, Dev hasn't pestered us since your presentation earlier"

"Please don't jinx yourself, Vi" Hazel worried

Vi looked at her friend "Hey Hazel... let's meet up in the bathroom after school, I need to... tell you something..."

"Uhh, sure?"

"Thank you." Vi thanked

And so, after lunch, they went back to class where they waited for the bell to ring once more. Vi went to the bathroom, presumably to talk to her godparent about something, immediately returning after 3 minutes. After a while, school ended and the two friends went to the promised location "So what do you want to talk about?"

Vi looked at Peri, then at Hazel "I wish you were in the show: Steven Universe"

"Wait-- what!?" before Peri and Hazel could say more a rift opened sucking Hazel into it

Somewhere beyond the Fairly Oddparents dimension:

A sixteen-year old boy with a pink jacket was with his caretakers: A pale woman with a pearl on her forehead and a blue jacket, a square-haired woman wearing a star-shaped visor, and a purple-skinned woman wearing a shirt with a hole, revealing the amethyst embedded on her chest. They were running towards the dimensional rift in the sky, weapon in hands

"Garnet, what is that thing?" the boy asked to the square-haired woman

"It's nothing like anything we've ever seen before, but it appears to be a portal" she replied in a monotone voice "We might be in for a fight. Pearl?" she turned to the pale woman

"Whatever it is, it's powerful enough to open a literal rift in the sky." she responded worriedly

"Who knows, maybe they're friendly?" the boy suggested

"And if they aren't we'll beat 'em up"

"Amethyst, Steven--" Pearl tried to intervene, only to be cut off with a tiny figure screaming while plummeting to the ground, dirt particles filling the area. The four stood there before three of them readied their defense positions, the smoke cleared to reveal...

An unconscious ten-year old girl...

Silence filled the air, before Steven spoke up

"Uhh, what?" He was confused

End of Flashback

Monday..? afternoon in Beach City, Hazel crashed into the ground, leaving her unconscious

"Uhh, what?" Steven asked, confused

"A child?? Why was there a child on the other side??" the voice of Pearl questioned

"Maybe she got tossed in there or something." the voice of Amethyst wondered

"Uhh, guys??" The voice of Steven tried to intervene, but was left unheard

"But why would a child be anywhere near it??"

"You guys..!"

"Maybe she was kidnapped because, I dunno, they didn't want her?"

"But why would anyone kidnap a child just to toss them in a portal when there's other ways of getting rid of someone!"

"You guy-- Wait-- Pearl, do you know something I don't? Steven intrigued

"I know many things that you don't, Steven." Pearl retaliated

"Touche"

"Pearl, Amethyst. The child is awake."

Peri stared at the empty space before him, at least hoping everything he saw was a hallucination of some sort. Welp, only one way to confirm it "Vi... WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST DO!?!?" Peri panicked.

"Well... I wished that Hazel was in Steven Universe" Vi shrugged awkwardly

"Do you even know how problematic dimensional travel is??" The fairy was not having it "I thought you were the responsible one!" the fairy flailed his arms out like those car sale balloons before turning to Iris "And you... I thought you were the wise one!"

"Sorry Peri, but a godchild must always get what they want..." Iris sheepishly smiled "except when it breaks the rules of course"

"You could've at least discouraged her!" Peri groaned while pinching the arch of his nose

"You gotta let loose, Peri. The kid will never learn if you just keep denying it"

"Oh, fine! Vi messed up, but we still gotta do something about this!"

Vi winced sadly (sigh) "Peri's right, I have to fix this somehow! I need to find her by going to--"

"Oh, no you aren't, missy! We need to do this without anyone risking anything"

"But cant we just go there ourselves?"

"N-o." Peri deadpanned "If we go there, we'll go to an entirely separate universe, with entirely separate laws. Plus, our wands will completely be cut from the big wand, and  we'll have no way of going back home!"

Vi looked down in shame, and her fairy patted her back "It's okay, sweetie, you didn't know about it yet. But Peri's right, we just gotta send a message to Sci about this, wait a few days to get Hazel back, and hope Peri doesn't die of magical backup."

Peri's eyes widen in realization "Oh my god I completely forgot about that! I was so busy worrying about Hazel, and how her parents will notice her gone, and how I'm probably gonna be disguised as her!"

"We have no time to waste, lets go."

As soon as Hazel woke up, she was confused. Where was she? She knows she's in the Steven Universe dimension, but she could be anywhere in the world. She kept asking until her vision cleared to reveal four figures from a certain cartoon, she knew exactly where she is.

"Pearl, Amethyst, the child is awake."

Hazel gasped. Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet, and Steven!? She was NOT expecting to meet them this soon, she oughta thank the multiverse for bringing her to wherever she is because she could've ended up in the arctic, where she would freeze to death, inside of a random fireplace for the heck of it and get burned alive, or maybe middle of the ocean for heaven's sake and slowly drown to death. She better act confused and not slip up, tempting fate can lead to deadly consequences if provoked

Garnet found the child's reaction strange. Was she surprised about amethyst being purple? No... Any normal child would immediately point and ask about it. it's as if she recognized them? But why would this random child recognize them? That's highly unlikely, especially if this child could potentially be from an alternate reality itself. Garnet wanted answers, but she couldn't use future vision, because future vision is calculating possibilities using known variables, this child came completely out of the blue. If she wanted answers, it's best to ask, something she's not quite done... well... since she got rejuvenated.

Garnet approached the Hazel "Hello there young child, say, where did you come from?" she asked in a monotone yet gentle voice

"Oh! uhm--" should I say it? she asked herself "--uhh  ...Dimmadelphia..? I guess." she shrugged

"Dimmadelphia? you mean Philadelphia, right..?" asked Steven

"Uhm... yeah!" Inside, Hazel was confused, does Dimmadelphia not exist here? Oh have they just not heard of it? Either way, better not embarrass herself good thing Dev's not here to give her second-hand embarrassment with his boasting about him being the son of Dale Dimmadome, owner of the Dimmadome Globo-dome or whatever.

"Hmm, she seems normal to me." spoke Amethyst

"We should still check for anything that proves otherwise"

"Garnet's right. To Little Homeworld!" exclaimed Steven

Little Homeworld... is Hazel gonna meet Peridot? Or maybe... Peridot, Lapis and Bismuth?? Hazel's eyes widen in excitement, fortunately for Hazel, to the gems, her expression could give that she is either scared or confused on where that even is. Garnet signaled for Hazel to follow them. And now to play the 'Pretend not to know everything' game. "So~ what's Little Homeworld?" They were walking

Steven replied "Oh, it's a place where gems learn how to love life!" They're still walking

"Okay..." Hazel's trying her best, but her thoughts turn to how that statement would be so funny out of context. She gave an awkward smile that she's trying to hide, but to the gems, she doesn't even know what gems even are. "So~ uhm, what are gems?" she said in a suspicious tone

"Wait a minute..." Oh no! Do they suspect her? Hazel gulped in nervous sweat "We haven't even asked for your name! Sorry about that."

"Oh! my name? it's Hazel!" Still walking...

"Oh, My name's steven, this is Pearl," He points to Pearl "This is Amethyst," he points to Amy "And this is Garnet" He points to the tallest one of the group "..." Steven paused "Oh right, about the gems! Gems are aliens designed to conquer planets, but that's all in the past now. Now that the Diamond Authority is gone, all that stuff about 'conquest' and 'killing' is no more!"

"..."

They stop.

Hazel, who was looking at Steven and the other gems, turns to see a warp pad. Oh boy, the girl remembered someone saying the warp pad was like a freefall to your destination. As they approach the warping device Garnet held onto the little girl so she does not get separated. The process felt like your stomach dropping like you're on a rollercoaster ride, it only took a second till they arrived at Little Homeworld

Peri, Iris, and Vi arrived at Jorgen's office, and the buff fairy couldn't help but take notice of Vi

"Fairy godparent named Iris, why is your godchild in Fairy World?"

"Apologies, Jorgen, but there has an accident regarding Peri's godchild..." Iris responded

"Is this about the multiversal portal on earth?"

"Y-es..?"

(sigh) "I will talk with the science fairy and fix this problem. NOW LEAVE"

"Uhmm... Jorgen... "Peri raised a hand

"What is it, Peri-Weri?"

"How long is this gonna take?" He nervousely twiddled his fingers "Just asking..!"

"A month."

"A month!?"

"Yes. NOW LEAVE MY OFFICE."

The three poofed out of the building and into Hazel's room, Peri pacing back and forth, Iris thinking of a plan B, and Vi looking ashamed

"Okay, so for a whole month, I'm shapeshifted into Hazel to avoid suspicion, and hope I don't get magical backup."

"O~r we could open another rift and let someone in to track Hazel" Iris suggested "We could take turns keeping the rift open! So you don't have to get magical backup!"

Before Peri could speak, Vi answered before him "But who?? Peri's disguised as Hazel, and you're keeping the rift open, (gasp) does that mean..?"

"Oh of course not you sweetie..!" Iris patted Vi on the back

"Then who??"

Peri suddenly spoke "I think there's someone that can help" He yells for Daisy "Uhh, Daisy, I know it's supposed to be a secret, but this is an emergency!"

"Uhh, Peri, no offense but Daisy isn't really much... of..." Vi stopped dead on her tracks when she turned to see the Dachshund appeared on a hovercraft outside the window. Her mouth hanged like a loose branch, looking like it was ready to snap off "Whaaaat?... the heck am I seeing!?"

"Uhh, Peri, is this..?"

There she was, Daisy standing menacingly on her hovercraft, fedora on her head, determined to get Hazel back
