Chapter Text
The gentle purring of the Genesis filled the empty night, accompanied by the occasional bumps along the drive on the cracked pavement. It was a peaceful ride home after a long day of meetings and business deals for Mr. Park.
Mr. Park was aimlessly scrolling through his phone—news, messages, angry emails—
SCREEEEECH
The car came to an abrupt stop, causing it to shake.
"What the..." Mr. Park grunted, gripping the headrest of the driver's seat.
"There seems to be some kind of blockage in the road, Mr. Park," the driver said, slightly diverted by the sudden halt. Mr. Park's bodyguards stepped out to check the obstacle in the road
"It looks like a cross between a fox and a human, Mr. Park. It's bloodied and injured." The bodyguard knelt and pressed two fingers gently against its carotid. "But it's still alive, though the pulse is weak."
At the words "fox and human," Mr. Park's eyes widened. He adjusted his tie before stepping out to see if what his bodyguard said was true. The description could only mean one thing.
Hybrids were rare, especially when bred in the wild. In most black markets, they were sold for high prices, depending on their classification.
As Mr. Park turned to the front of the car, there it was. The headlights illuminated the path, providing a clear view. A blond fox-hybrid lay curled on the concrete. The thought of getting a good deal for it... was worth so much more than a good night's sleep.
"Throw him in the trunk; he's worth good money," Mr. Park commanded. The bodyguards gently lifted the wounded fox and placed him in the trunk of the vehicle. Mr. Park smirked and stepped back into the backseat.
As soon as everything was in place, the engine started, and they were off again.
*
The flicker of a lighter lit up the dark bedroom of Mr. Park's private villa. A few moments earlier, his bodyguards took the fox-hybrid to a private urgent care clinic for treatment.
Smoke curled around the man as he exhaled a puff from the cigarette. Filing through documents, his phone next to him buzzed softly. Mr. Park picked up the phone, which was practically miniature in his hand.
"How is he, Sung-min?" Mr. Park spoke calmly. On the other end of the phone, his bodyguard responded in a quiet voice.
"He is still unconscious but is in good shape now. The doctor said his body can heal faster than a regular hybrid's and he can be discharged in a week or less."
Mr. Park chuckled, "Able to heal faster than a regular one, eh? How amusing... I'd like to see him soon, then." He smirked before hanging up.
"Maybe I'll really keep him..." Mr. Park whispered to himself as he let out a final drag before stubbing the butt of the cigarette into the ashtray.
