Timelines
Kes walked aboard the Earth Fighter that was landed at SGC. She saw, much to her relief, that no one else was aboard. She went to the main control console, drew a small device and attached it to the console. She then activated the ship’s sensor and navigational systems.
-Temporal scanner is working - Kes said to herself. - Let’s see… Set it to SG-001…
Sensor readouts displayed on the main screen changed quickly. Kes had to pause it and look through it piece by piece.
She was so absorbed in it that she didn’t sense one human coming. It was only when she heard footsteps behind her that she noticed him. She was startled by it, so she quickly turned off the screen and turned around.
-Milosz - she said with relief as she recognized who it was. - What are you doing here?
-I was bored and thought that I could come here - Milosz said. - I like Earth Fighters… They are tough little ships. Flew them during the war… but what are you doing here, Kes, and why have you reacted… like this?
-I am using a temporal scanner, and this is not something anyone from here should see - Kes said.
-You are checking them? - Milosz said. - Their future?
-Not exactly - Kes said. - Future they didn’t get… The future they would get if Turner didn’t come here. Especially… Daniel and Sha’re. Turner and his crew saved her and I wanted to know…
-And what did you find? - Milosz said.
-Nothing yet - Kes said. - Since you already are here, would you guard the doors for me?
-Alright - Milosz said. - I’II guard the doors. But you tell me when you find something.
-Good - Kes said and returned to her work.
She worked for over an hour, and Milosz had to stop people from entering the Earth Fighter twice (first time it was Daniel and Sha’re and second time it was Teal’c and Maks).
-I have this! - Kes finally said. - I know what happened to them…
-And? - Milosz said.
-In short, it ended well - Kes said. - It took over 15 years… but it ended well. Daniel got Sha’re back in the end.
-But how? - Milosz said. - But she died… Teal’c killed her…
-Ammonet knew it could happen, and had a contingency plan, one not even Apophis knew about - Kes said. - She found an ancient device… and created a mindless clone of Sha’re and herself. She made it so that, if they ever died, their minds would be transferred to that clone… until then, they were left in stasis. Sha’re had no idea about it… Amanuet made sure of it. But when Teal’c shot her… Amanuet died first, and only Sha’re’s consciousness was transferred.
-And what then? - Milosz said.
-The machine detected the difference and kept her in stasis - Kes said. - Eventually, she was discovered by a group of explorers and, after some time with them, she came to Earth… Well, and she and Daniel reunited. And with the Goa’uld defeated… They could be together.
-I know better than to ask how the Goa’uld were defeated… - Milosz said. - That’s one timeline… What about others?
-Well… Remember that clone creation happened before Teal’c shooting her - Kes said. - There are also many timelines where she was taken to SGC when Daniel found her pregnant on Abydos… Most timelines where this event happened, in fact. In SG-001, they were so close… Well, but it at least ended well. Mostly. Somehow.
-I am glad to hear it - Milosz said. - I hope everything’II be fine for me and T'pal too…
-You know I cannot check that - Kes said. - These rules exist for a reason.
-I know - Milosz said.
Kes turned everything off and disconnected her device. She and Milosz then left the Earth Fighter and started walking back to the base. Soon, Roger Walker approached them.
-So, how is it, Kes? - he said.
-Everything’s fine - Kes said.
-I’m glad to hear it - Roger said. - I’ve seen them a lot… They deserve happiness.
-They do - Kes said. - As do we.
-I never doubted we would get it - Roger said. - Well, since… Since you came back to me. But them… I was always worried about them. Since I first heard…
At this moment, they saw Daniel and Sha’re walking together, as they were leaving the base to go to their apartment. Daniel had his hand put around his wife’s wraist.
-Here they are - Milosz said.
-Yes - Kes said. - And it’s really a heartwarming sight…
