Work Text:

As the door opened, the sound prompted the butler to head towards it. Lore entered and set a small brown bag on the drawer by the entrance steps. When she went to hang up her coat, their butler stepped forward to take it from her.

“Welcome home, Master Azazel,” he said with a posh accent, taking Lore’s coat from her and hanging it up before speaking again. “Mistress Lucifer is in your quarters.”

“How’s she feeling?” Lore asked while taking off her shoes and slipping into her bunny slippers.

“Her voice is still hoarse,” he responded, picking up the bag and handing it back to Lore as she started walking toward the stairs.

Lore thanked him and took the bag, then hurried upstairs to her bedroom. She reached their bedroom and pushed the door open. Lucifer turned her head to see Lore step in, their familiar smile in place. Lucifer couldn’t help but return the smile.

Lore let out a soft gasp. “Oh, jeez”, she said as she made her way to their bed, sitting on its corner end. “You must be feeling sick if you’re smiling,” they playfully teased.

“Hush,” Lucifer croaked.

“I picked this up to make you feel better,” Lore said as she opened the paper bag.

Taking out a tiny plastic spoon and napkins, then finally a container of Italian soup. Lucifer watched Lore as she carefully opened the plastic lid, as a cloud of steam escaped.

“Want me to feed you?” Lore said as she picked up the spoon, her tone a bit flirtatious, hoping her words would sound romantic.

Lucifer’s face was already flushed with a fever, but her wife’s playful banter intensified it. Lore always brought out a different side of her. She nodded in response as she sat up. Lore scooped up a bit of the soup and offered it to Lucifer, who took it. She savoured the warmth, perfect for her sore throat.

“Work was pretty slow today,” Lore said as she fed more soup to Lucifer.

Lore gently wiped the corner of Lucifer’s mouth with a napkin and asked, “Would you like some tea, angel?”

With a nod from Lucifer, Lore then told them to “hold on” while she stepped out. Lucifer settled back into the sheets, then rolled onto her side, the absurdity of catching the flu right after their trip. With so much to do, all of her duties unexpectedly fell on her wife. Lucifer rarely took days off, and being absent for three days was infuriating her. She shut her eyes, the dull aches in her throat kept her up.

Lore had left the door open, and in walked their dachshund, who despite its short stature jumped onto the bed, much to Lucifer’s dismay. She had a no dogs on the bed policy, but she was too tired to enforce said rule. The dog made its way to Lore’s spot on the bed and sat right next to Lucifer. They both looked at each other before the dog licked Lucifer’s forehead. The dog then settled in close to Lucifer, curling up beside her.

Soon, Lore returned with two mugs. Lore gave the mug that read “I don’t do matching mugs” to Lucifer, while she kept the one that said, “I do.” Lucifer wasn’t keen on tacky mugs, but she appreciated the sincerity in Lore’s gifts. Lore set her tea down on the bedside table, then picked up the dog and went to set him onto the floor.

“Petri, you know the rules,” she softly scolded the dog while peppering kisses on his head.

Petri gently licked Lore in return, then let out a sad whine when set down, turning his tail and leaving the room with a huff.

“Who knew a dog could be so sassy,” Lore said as she took her place on her side of the bed.

Lucifer took a sip of her tea and then set it on the nightstand. She nuzzled up to Lore, burying her face into their chest. Lore put their arm around Lucifer and drew her in closer. She closed her eyes and enjoyed their comforting touch, Lucifer wouldn’t ever admit to being a big cuddler.

“Do you want me to put something on?” After Lore asked, she drank from her mug and then placed it on the nightstand.

Lucifer nodded as she felt Lore shift, grabbing the remote and turning on the TV. Lore read movie titles aloud to her, they had settled on The Naked Gun (2025). As the movie played, Lore’s hand stroked Lucifer’s back, and she slowly drifted to sleep.
