Summary:

Some of the letters between Lumine and Wanderer throughout her trek through the nations.

aka Lumine freaking out about what happens in the archon quests from Fontaine onwards

First multi-chapter fic! Not entirely sure how many chapters I'll do, but at least until the start of Nod Krai.

Chapter 1: Fontaine

Chapter Text

Dear Jiyu,

How have you been? I hope your Vahumana studies are going well. Are your classmates still driving you up a wall?

Hopefully Cyno hasn’t bothered you with Genius invocation too much either. It’s bordering on an obsession, I think.

Before you start to worry, I’ve gotten to Fontaine safely.

It’s…way different from Sumeru so far; I can tell you that. The city is too cramped for me. Too… I don’t know. The water and Aquabus are nice, though.

But I digress, as much as it pains me to say… This may be my last letter for a while.

There was a murder that happened at a magician’s show I went to, and the magician and his assistant asked me to defend them.

I know what you’re thinking! “Traveler, you don’t need to help everyone you meet.” But Lyney, the magician, had helped me and Paimon escape getting thrown in jail.

Immediately after we landed, the Archon showed up and invoked a law against unregistered floating objects??? And he swooped in, claiming that she was a balloon, and the archon, Focalors or Furina, as she’s called here, backed off.

Why am I explaining who she is??? You know who the hydro archon is from your days as a harbinger!

I think I’m writing these too late into the night. I’m losing my mind…

She's...very eccentric though.

Anyway! It’s only right I repay the favor.

Paimon is still pouting about being called a balloon, even now haha

Speaking of Paimon, thank you for sending the recipe for Candied Ajilenakh Nuts! She ate the whole batch I made…I could barely get her to spare one, so I could try it myself!

I eventually made a serving for myself after she went to sleep. It’s so good! I do think I made the syrup too thick, though, so I’ll keep at it.

Here’s hoping I can get it perfect so you and Nahida can try it next time I visit.

Actually… Here’s a tad bit of a secret. I’m thinking of passing by Sumeru for Nahida’s birthday after this Fontaine business is finished. I know you’re rolling your eyes right now, but I’m not coming just because it’s her birthday. I want to see you too.

And as much as I want to tell you not to tell her, I think we both know that’s a fruitless endeavor.

I just hope this is all done by the time of Sabzeruz.

I’m getting tired, Yu.

I’ll see you soon.

Traveler

Ps. Paimon just woke up, so she says hi too. She wants to say thank you for your words about her latest assignment. She was giddy about that for days.

PPS. She just threw a pillow at me.
