Chapter Text
Tim is working on a lab report for his AP chemistry class. He needs to get it done before tonight at midnight, maybe he had procrastinated until that point, but he was now fully determined to get it in before the due date so his bitchy science teacher wouldn’t have another reason to yell at him Infront of everyone. Seriously what was her problem so what if he had fallen asleep in her class one time ok maybe more than once but in Tim's defense He was tired, and it’s not like he isn’t passing the class with the highest grade.
Tim is sitting on the couch in the tower, with the news playing in the background. He wore a Hamilton hoodie he stole from Jason and some sweatpants with a black domino covering his eyes. He was working on the perfect thesis statement for his report when Bart sped into the room and flopped onto the coach; he was also in civilian clothes. He threw his feet over the arm rest kicking his legs super speed back a fourth, he grabbed a throw pillow and put in under his head, in one hand he held a sub from subway and in the other was a book. Contrary to belief Bart the speedster was an avid reader. They both sat in silence doing their own thing Tim with his homework and Bart reading his book.
They sat like that for maybe an hour before they were interrupted. Tim heard them before he saw them. Cassie and Kon were loudly discussing who would win in a fight between Wonder Woman and Superman.
“Yeah, but you're forgetting about kryptonite, Wonder Woman has no physical weaknesses”
Kon scoffed “That not fair, given your argument anyone could beat Superman”
“Yeah, if they had kryptonite,” That earned Cassie a shove "That's why Wonder Woman is superior”
“Do you hear yourself, Guys back me up Superman is obviously better” Kon said addressing Tim and Bart.
“Nope I'm not getting in the middle,” Bart said, flipping a page in his book. Kon turned to look at Tim, giving him his best Come on Rob help me out here stare. Tim sighed the two of them had been having this debate for months both Tim and Bart had made the executive decision to let them sort it out themselves. But now Kon was staring at him with those eyes and his resolve was crumbling.
“Don’t you think you both are a little Bias." Tim started but when Kons glare intensified, he quickly tacked on "But I think Superman would win.” Did he actually think Superman would win… Maybe, he would have to calculate it and find out the exact stats to be certain, but it definitely could happen.
Cassie let out an offended gasp and Kon said
“Ha see told you! Thank you Robin at least someone has sense”
“No! Rob doesn't actually think that, he's just a spineless idiot”
“Hey!” Tim said, affronted. I mean it was true but still rude.
“This is why you should have stayed out of it.” helpfully added Bart.
Tim tuned them out done with this conversation. He was going to finish this stupid report if it killed him.
When Tim finally looked up from his computer to open a red bull. Conner and Cassie had stopped bickering thank God and were sitting on bean bags watching the tv. It was some celebrity interview. He looked over to Bart who was still across the coach but had stopped reading and was absent mindedly playing with a Rubrik's cube, well also watching the TV.
Tim looked closer at the tv and realized it was footage from a fund raiser Wayne enterprise had put on last night. Just as Bruce finished his speech about the new rehabilitation program for Gotham goons. The camera cut to a news reporter trying to get the attention of someone, and oh shit it's him. Seriously could his luck get any worse. Past Tim looks at the News reporter and gives her his best gala smile. His hair is gelled back; he has on a nice black suit with a red tie.
“Tim Drake, you are the newest addition to the Wayne household, how are you adjusting?” Tim wanted to scoff at her question; he had been Bruce Waynes's son for two years at this point, he had already adjusted.
“I have enjoyed my stay at Wayne manor thus far, and I'm very grateful to Mr. Wayne for deciding to take me in.”
“And how did you take the revelation that Jason-Todd was alive” She shoved the microphone in Tims face but he didn’t let his annoyance shine through, he had much more important things he could be doing, but nooooo according to Bruce he needs his children to support him at events like this so people wouldn't talk or whatever.
“We were all taken aback by the news, no one more than Bruce. It was a true miracle, and we are happy to welcome him back home.” Tim said a couple of months ago Bruce made an official announcement to the public with the fake story that Jason had in fact never died and instead he had ended up a jane doe Acoma case at a hospital. When Jason had made a miraculous recovery, he called Bruce and informed he was alive and had just been in Acoma for the last year and a half. Tim figures it's kind of sort of true, Jason had just informed Bruce he was alive in a much bloodier and more violent way. And well trained with assassins but what the public didn't know wouldn't hurt them.
“Yes, we were all very happy to hear of his recovery, could you tell us why he isn’t here tonight” Because he doesn't like rich people
“Jason was feeling ill, I'm sure he will make an appearance at the next event” Tim internally rolls his eyes, no he definitely was not at all salty Jason got to skip.
“Speaking of event what is your opinion on the new Rehabilitation program, do think the Goons deserve the attention after their misdeeds”
The interview faded into the background as Tim looked around at his friends wondering if they had figured out his identity, he felt bad about hiding who he was from them but too much was at stake it wasn’t just his secret it was Bruces, Jasons, Dicks, even Alfred would be put at risk. It's not that he didn’t trust his friends, he did really. But-
“Smash or Pass?” Tim started to choke on his Red bull
"What" he croaked
“Smash or Pass?” she pointed to past Tim on Tv giving now Tim a concerned look.
“Smash” both Kon and Bart remarked, Tims eyes neared popped out of his head because what the fuck.
“Agreed,” Cassie added, putting her arms behind her head. Tim turned bright red, he hummed in agreement, because what else was he supposed to do. Luckily, they didn’t leave him to sit in his feeling to long because Bart asked
“Do you think the Waynes are actually good people or do it for the camera and are security evil”
“Definitely evil” Kon replied that made Tim pause, Kon thought he was evil. Would he still think that if Tim’s identity ever got revealed. No he was Robin and they were friends. Putting his inner turmoil aside Tim asked
“Then why’d you say smash? If you think Tim is evil” Kon shrugged
“He’s hot, so what if he’s a dick. Not like it's ever actually going to happen.” Tim shook his head bewildered. Kon though he was hot, this made Tim really happy for no reason that he was willing to admit.
“Well, I think they’re good people. I have a couple friends who were given Wayne scholarships.” Thank you, Cassie, at least someone is on Tims side
“But they’re rich all rich people are evil” Kon interjected
“No there not”
‘“Oh yeah name one example”
“Oliver Queen, AKA Green Arrow”
Kon looked like he was going to say something, but Bart Interrupted
“Tim, you're from Gotham, what do you think?” Everyone turned to Tim and Kon was giving him that look again, and Tim debated agreeing with Kon just to make him stop starting at him like that. He cleared his thought
“I don’t think they’re evil, Wayne enterprises have actually helped a lot of people in Gotham” he mumbled
Cassie gave Kon a look of triumph.
