Chapter Text
A day full of missions was a really tiring thing for Marshall. Not only he had to rescue the civillians from a building fire, but he also had to chase a loose Chickeletta (which is quite hard to catch).
But good thing Ryder gave the pups a whole week off so all of them could have fun, which made Marshall sighed in huge relief. No missions, no stress, just a whole week of relaxing (good thing Mayor Humdinger and the kittens weren’t making trouble)
On that night….
Marshall sat down on his doghouse, looking at the bright stars. He couldn’t wait for tommorow since they’re going to beach. He closed his eyes and slept quietly…..
When he woke up, he started to feel a little weird…
It’s not his doghouse or the lookout at ALL. He started to realize that there is a HUGE building in front of him. “This is not a dream, right?” he asked himself while staring at the building. He started to panic like crazy until he saw someone REALLY familiar.
“CHASE!?” he shouted while trying to process everything. Marshall approached him with a very shocked expression. “What are you doing here?” he asked. “I don’t know. I was just sleeping when someone kidnapped us!” Chase replied, with a really serious tone.
Without waiting for a second, Marshall finally said, “There’s should be clues right? I mean, you love reading those detective books and newspapers, so you should know something.” Chase does have a clue but it’s quite unexplainable, however in this case, he should try to make a small hypothesis from this case. But before he could say anything, both of them started to get dizzy and fainted at the ground.
A few moments later, they woke up in a strange classroom with all the windows blocked by a strange metal. “We gotta get out of here!” Marshall said while trying to find an exit. Before he touched the window, Chase grabbed his paw while saying, “Marshall, I’ve seen this news before.”
After Marshall slowly puts his paw back to the table. Chase started to tell him about a mysterious (and popular) killing game known as ‘Danganronpa’. “So the game is about students getting trapped in a school with no escape at all. The only way out is by killing each other in the worst case possible. The rest of the details was hidden for personal reasons.”
“I see. So in that case there should be more ‘students’ in this school, right?” Marshall asked. “Exactly, so we gotta find the others who are trapped here and try to escape before the game ACTUALLY starts!” Chase said while convincing himself that it’s not real at all.
After that, both of them decided to see if there are other people who had been kidnapped. They searched everywhere, the class, the cafeteria, nowhere to be found. But when they went to the gym, they didn’t saw anyone. So they decided to wait for anyone to come here
Not long after, the gym door was opened by a strange figure. It’s small, cute, and smells like an entire… MILKY WAY?? (just imagine what it smells like). When the duo tried to stay away from her, she just simply yawns and said in a very lazy way.
“Are you serious? I think this school just got a lot more weirder in every minute,” the mysterious entity spoke. “Who are you!?” Chase asked. “Calm down. I’m not your average weirdo around here (at least). I’m Milky Way Cookie, a train conductor from the World of Dreams *yawns*. No wonder that handbook gave the Ultimate Train Conductor title,” Milky Way Cookie said in a very cute flat tone while showing her e-handbook.
Both of them got confused but she told them if they had their own handbook, and when they finally found the handbook she mentioned, they turn it on and saw the starting page (and boy was Chase reaally suprised) :
CONGRATULATIONS!! You are now a participant in the “Ultimate Multiversal Killing Game Season 1”. From now on, this school will be YOUR ONLY place to survive and going out of the school is strictly forbidden. Please explore the school before you begin to survive in this place, FOREVER!! Additional rules will be explained during the upcoming orientation. Be sure to be at the gym before 9.30
From your beloved principal,
Monokuma
After both of them read it, Chase instantly faints in despair while Marshall starts to bite his nails. “Don’t worry, let’s just hope that this last for a week or two. If it last longer than that, Aurora Candy Cookie might fire me already and I won’t get any salaries at all,” Milky Way Cookie reassures herself.
But Chase looked at her with sharp eyes as his heartbeat gets faster than ever. “Do…you…know…HOW LONG THAT THIS GAME MIGHT TAKE!!? According to survivors, the game might take around more than 1 YEAR!! This is THE ULTIMATE KILLING GAME, meaning we can’t escape unless we ACTUALLY KILL SOMEONE!!!!”
As he said those words, tears started to form in his eyes. Not tears of sadness, but tears of fear, trauma, and despair. He hugged Marshall tightly like he didn’t want to let go of him.
“This game actually could break the trust that many people had made for years *sniffle*, including this. I just don’t want to lose everything that I cherished.” Marshall stroked his back gently while calming him down. He couldn’t bear to see his friend cry. What’s even worse, is when he finally understands what’s going on.
The Ultimate Killing Game isn’t about just killing someone physically, but also mentally through betrayal. And if this keep happening, everyone might start to not trust anyone. Slowly, the fact really kills him inside, thinking that the game would only bring even more pain, rather than joy.
After 5 minutes, he finally accepts this fate no matter what. Even if he has to see the loss of his friends later on. Soon, both of them looked at the e-handbook and saw their name listed on each of their profile with a blank space after the word Ultimate. “Oh, and don’t forget to fill that. It was blank, so I just randomly type what fits me well,” she replied casually. So, Chase and Marshall decided to type their title.
“Marshall, what’s your title?” Chase asked with a confused expression. “Mine’s the Ultimate Firefighter. How about you?” “I’m the Ultimate Police. Does it fit me well?” Chase replied with a very nervous expression. “Yeah, it kinda suits you well.”
Now, all they had to do is just wait for the orientation to begin at the gym. “How long do we have to wait?” Marshall asked impatiently. “Around 53 minutes,” Milky Way Cookie answered while pointing at a clock. “Well, I guess the game’s about to start, huh?” Chase said softly. “But we will have to be prepared if something happens.”
And so it begins, the ultimate killing game where everyone survives by killing each other through murder and betrayal. What will happen during the orientation? Who are the other contestants and what are their roles? Find out next time in
