1:00 AM - July 30, 2023, Charlie’s House
Charlie never really knew why it had to be like this. He just knew that whenever he was around Tyler, it felt like electricity pulsing through his body. It all started the night of the sleepover, when Charlie had a problem getting out of his window.
Tyler: “dude, dude just hop out the window”
Charlie : “Dude my moms gonna hear me..”
Tyler: “Bro, i can literally help you out, just give me ur hand”
Charlie suddenly feels a pit in his stomach, however, it’s not the kind of pit you get when you are about to get a shot, or when your mom calls your full name. This was different.
Charlie hesitated.
Charlie : “y-yeah sure let’s do it”
They grab hands. Tyler’s grip is firm.
This shouldn’t be a big deal for Charlie, since they have touched hands before, but now Charlie noticed something was off. He could feel the pulse in Tyler’s wrist, his cold hands in the warm summer air.
Tyler pulls his hand close.
Charlie : “carefu-”
Charlie falls out of his second story window right on to Tyler’s chest. They don’t move. Charlie then looks up and Tyler is making direct eye contact.
It’s quiet, and Charlie feels his face get hot. Tension filled the air as they lay on the dewy grass on charlie’s lawn. Nobody says anything for another few seconds. Charlie then gets up, and Tyler perches up on both of his elbows.
They clasp palms as he pulls Tyler up from the ground, and they start walking to the bikes.
Tyler smirks.
“I’ll race ya.” he says
The boys run to the bikes as they laugh, but also trying not to wake up Charlie’s mom. It was the perfect summer night.
Then everything changed.
