Work Text:
There were certain rules about relations with the task force members that were being incarcerated. Slade made it clear to all of them at the start that there would be no fraternization tolerated, but up until this point Joseph never assumed that would be an issue. He had never felt attraction to someone he worked with before, but most of the individuals Joseph worked with weren't attractive. Sure, Slade had the looks and the charisma, but Joseph knew from personal experience the man was kind of an asshole when you actually spent enough time with him. It was a miracle the two of them worked well enough as friends most of the time, especially when one considered the fact that Slade was technically his superior. Alex could deal with that mess of a man, but Joseph didn't have the time or the patience to unpack all that. Ethan was a friend and, in truth, not Joseph's type by any sense of the word. The inmates were also either insane, unattractive, or well.. women.. as no amount of flirtation could ever make Joseph look twice in their direction. It seemed so simple, and Ivo was arrested, and he checked every one of Joseph's boxes, including ones he didn't know existed. Ivo was an attractive man. He was also smarter than anyone. Joseph had met with several doctorates under his belt. He had a fantastic sense of humor. Then there was the whole monster side of him, which stood as a box Joseph never imagined someone could actually check off. Ivo had his issues, but when Joseph fell for the man, he fell hard, and well, that caused a few issues.
The relationship between Ivo and Joseph was a complicated one that dealt with a severe power imbalance and a lot of risk, but Joseph cared a lot about Ivo, so he took that risk. He first met Ivo when Slade asked him to tend to Ivo's wounds after an incident with the shock collar that had been placed around his neck, and over time the relationship just kind of evolved. Ivo was a different kind of man post-parasite than he was before the accident, both in how he looked and how he acted. Sure, he still had his charm and charisma, but for the most part that was all an act, just like it was for Slade. Joseph liked the real Ivo, the one that would sometimes ask about Alex and would talk about him in such a fond manner whenever he was told what Alex was up to now. Joseph couldn't be blamed for how he felt, but he could be blamed for what he did to him. He could be blamed for the crime he committed.
In truth, this was not the first incident shared between them, but it was the first time someone else had seen them. It was on a mission. Joseph was tasked with clearing out some buildings with Ivo's assistance as Slade led the others to tend to the hostile situation up ahead. Joseph didn't need as much time as he claimed. He led Ivo into an area because he wanted to steal a few moments of bliss. He sent out a message to Slade about how he would need about a half hour due to some technical issues and how he would meet them as soon as he could. Slade confirmed, and Joseph didn't think twice about it. He couldn't have known that Slade would send Alex out.
It was a common assumption from those who didn't know Joseph well to assume he was the top in the bedroom, but this couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, unlike Ivo, who was a switch, Joseph was a strict bottom. He didn't like the top at all. He knew what he liked and he wasn't ashamed of it. Ivo thankfully didn't have an issue with this. He had even made a comment about how he never would have guessed one of the guards would be dropping the soap in the prison’s shower to get his attention. It was ridiculous. It made Joseph laugh a bit too, which was something he needed more than he liked to admit, as he knew what he was doing was wrong. He always knew it was wrong but that never stopped him. It didn't matter how many times Slade lectured him about fraternization and treatment of the inmates. Ivo was an exception.
Joseph took off most of his equipment, as did Ivo, before he put his hands on the wall and let Ivo work. He had prepared himself in advance, as he knew neither of them would have much time. He even brought condoms, which kind of proved intent. Not much was exchanged between them conversationally; rather, it was treated as a means to an end, or rather, an orgasm. Joseph let out a shaky breath as he felt Ivo's cock sink into him. All he could say was those gossip articles weren't lying about the size of the man's cock. It felt even better than he imagined it would. Ivo was a fantastic fuck whether he was looking to impress or not, and as Joseph braced himself against the wall as Ivo took his ass from behind, he had to admit it was one of the better experiences he had ever had with a man. At least he didn't have to worry about Ivo running home to a family afterward. Ivo stuck around. He had no choice.
“Fuck..” Joseph breathed as he felt the wall heat up underneath his hands, doing his absolute best to control himself before he heard the clank of a tool kit crashing to the floor, which caused Joseph to whip his head around only to be met with a traumatized-looking Alex standing there in the doorway. “Luthor?!”
“Alex—” Ivo called out as he pulled out of the other man, only for Alex to turn tail and leave without his tools, letting out a long sigh before he thrust back into the other man. “Shit… Well.. Not my problem.”
Joseph was fucked both in the literal and metaphorical sense, and that fact only became more apparent as Ivo pounded into him harder and faster as he chased after his own orgasm. Joseph could feel his own rapidly approaching as well. He knew his hands must have left burn marks on the wall when he finally tipped over that edge, as he could smell the wood burning, but nothing could have prepared him for the look he was met with when he turned around. Slade. Slade was there. He stood there in the doorway and waited for them to finish. Ivo didn't utter a single word as he removed the condom and tied it. He handed it off to Joseph, who promptly sent it up in flames as Ivo collected his equipment and walked out past Slade to catch up with the others. Slade didn't utter a single word to him. In fact, he waited until after Ivo had left and Joseph had himself situated before he laid into him.
“Do you have any idea how much trouble you're in? You better hope you can lie good enough to claim he raped you; otherwise you're about to be locked up in a cell right next to his. That means a dishonorable discharge, loss of benefits, and your name on the sex offender registry, and that's not even taking into account your prison sentence. How many times have I told you to keep it in your pants and to not fuck with the inmates? Hm? Prisoners can't consent, Martin!” Slade scolded in a manner that made it clear how pissed he was, running a hand over his face before he spoke again. “Do you know how long it took me to calm Alex the hell down? You said there was a technical issue.. a technical issue.. You had to have known where that would lead, and you've read Alex's file! You know those two have a history. Did you really think he would be fine with this?”
“Slade.. Come on.. You know what it's like.” Joseph pleaded as he tried to find an out, desperately grabbing at straws before he spoke again. “Slade— You and Alex.. Can't you work something out?”
“While I appreciate your enthusiasm.. my dick is good.. but it's not ignoring a class B felony good.” Slade responded honestly, letting out a long sigh before he tried to throw a bit of humor on the fire. “Have you ever heard of the sex offender shuffle? You should consider practicing your lines.”
“Slade.” Joseph pleaded with a slight crack to his voice, grabbing the man's arm as he spoke with increased desperation. “Please?”
“I'll see what I can do. Don't talk to Alex. In fact keep your distance from him and stay the fuck away from Ivo.” Slade responded in a harsh and firm manner, shaking his head as he headed for the door. “Fuck me and the shit I have to deal with.”
There was no doubt a reason Slade was above him in rank, and how Slade chose to handle the situation was an excellent example of why. Slade collected Alex's tools and left as soon as their conversation ended. Joseph wasn't sure what kind of conversation had gone down between Alex and Slade after that, but when Slade brought him a paper to sign and instilled normal disciplinary action, Joseph was relieved. Slade reported an incident had occurred, but the intimate details of what had been seen were left out. Joseph was forever grateful to have Slade as a friend, so grateful in fact that when Slade showed disinterest in sitting down during a meeting, he didn't comment on it despite how badly he wanted to. He knew Alex wasn't as innocent as Ivo made him out to be. He knew Slade had been dicked down damn good, especially with the subtle limp in his step and the bruises on his throat.
