Work Text:
Mithian had never known Vivian to be interested in anyone (in fact, she seemed rather uninterested in anything of the sort), which was why she was taken completely by surprise when all Vivian talked about was Arthur, even addressing her as “my love”. This wasn’t the Vivian she knew. And wasn’t she aware of Queen Guinevere?
Mithian leaned over to Olaf. “What happened to her?”
Olaf sighed heavily. “I wish I knew. Vivian told me several times that she had no wish to get married, and then we went to Camelot and she and the princess were all over each other after a few days. Arthur managed to snap out of it, but Vivian” - he shook his head. “It’s been years since we visited Camelot. Truth be told, I’m almost afraid what might happen if she finds out about Arthur’s queen.”
“Might she have been enchanted?” Mithian suggested.
“Perhaps,” he agreed. “But I don’t understand why anyone would do such a thing. They must have known I would never let anything of the sort happen.” he paled. “Unless they were hoping for me to start a fight with Arthur.”
“You think whoever did this wanted war?”
“I’m afraid so,” Olaf replied gravely. “To try to cause war through my daughter… it is a vile act indeed.”
It was the day Mithian was due to return to Nemeth. They had all departed the castle, and she and her entourage were about to mount their houses and leave when Mithian embraced Vivian.
“I miss you,” she murmured. “Please come back to me.”
Vivian gasped and stumbled. If it weren’t for Mithian catching her, she would have fallen to the ground. “Mithian?” she asked. Her eyes widened with horror. “Oh no.” She looked truly distressed. “I was in love.” The way she said the word “love” made it clear she was extremely unhappy about it.
“It’s you,” Mithian smiled. “You’re back.”
“Thank you,” Vivian smiled.
