The woman in the photo had sad eyes.
Hyunjin surely didn't notice this three years ago. This was the last photo of his mom. Weeks before she died from the car accident. Hyunjin had avoided thinking about that terrible day. It was a day that his life changed. And no, he was not just talking about his rebirth. His reincarnation.
You see, hyunjin was with his mother during the accident. Everyone thought he was lucky to survive that fatal day. What they didn't know is that the original hyunjin did die. He is the hyunjin from the future. He didn't know know why he came back to his past self. Maybe the gods pitied him and gave him another chance to be happy. He didn't understand why he was reincarnated either. In the first place, he didn't die because someone plotted to kill him. He died because of his own choices. He didn't die with grievance nor regret. Okay, who is he kidding,he did die with regret but he didn't think it was enough reason for him to reincarnate to his past life.
It has been three years since that accident and if he would be honest,he really didn't like to go back to her family. 3 Years ago ,when he realized that he reincarnated,the first thing that he did was to ask his maternal grandfather to send him abroad. He knew his father will marry another woman. Not just another woman,but his mistress. And that will be the start of his doomed.
His father Hwang Minhyun didn't love his mother. Be married her out of convenience. However,his mother Kim Jisoo loved Hwang Minhyun like the sunflower loved the sun. She practically worshipped her husband. So when she discovered that her husband was seeing another woman behind her back ,she was heartbroken.
Kim Jisoo was the daughter of the prestigious Kim family. Her pride couldn't take the fact that her husband was cheating on her. But, unlike all cliche novel stories,his mother was a smart woman. She didn't try to kill the mistress or her husband's bastard child. Noo, she was smarter than that, so she transferred all her properties and company shares under her son's name. As they say, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
This earned the ire of his father. And since he can't really do anything to his wife because of her family,he choose to vent his anger on his only son, hwang hyunjin. He started ignoring him and scolding him. Then started to abuse him emotionally. This leads him to yearn for fatherly love. longed for his father's love and attention.
In his past life,he always wanted to make his father happy. he craved for his father's approval. Two months after his mother's death, hwang Minhyun brought park Rose into their home. He the announced that he will marry her in a month. Hyunjin was devastated. Especially after knowing that he had a brother. Hwang seungmin (Kim but not using that), born 2 months after his birthday. When he saw that his father dotes on seungmin too much, be became so jealous and unreasonable. He started competing for attention. He would want what seungmin want. He started bullying him and calling him names. When he heard that seungmin had a crush on Byung hun , their university hunk,he directly asked his maternal grandfather to set up am engagement without even knowing the guy.
Byung hun didn't come from a prestigious family. Well,he is from a rich family but not as rich as the Kim family. His grandfather tried to disapprove but hyunjin threw a tantrum and threatened to sever his ties with the Kim's. He acted irrationally and started defying his grandfather. When his grandfather suggested a prenuptial agreement,he was enraged. He doesn't want Byung hun to feel like he doesn't love him. He wants to show off to the world,to seungmin rather,that he and Byung hun were in love.
Hyunjin wants to laugh at his previous self's foolishness. How could he even like a man like Byung hun? Yet he still choose to marry him in his past life. He thought he won. Little did he know, seungmin and Byung hun are already long time lovers when they got married. Yes!he became the antagonist of his step brother's perfect love story. The only obstacle to their sincere love and affection.
After 3 years of marriage,he divorced her so he could marry his little brother. To his dismay, he got half of his property during their divorce. Thinking about it now,he couldn't help but be angry at his previous self. How could he be so foolish? He wasted his youth because of people like them.
In this lifetime,he will make sure not to spare amy time to associate himself with toxic people. Nope, be will not even spare them a single emotion those people. He will not revenge nor get angry because they don't deserve her attention. Not his stupid father ,not his white lotus step brother and certainly not the dumb and arrogant Byung hun.
"Young Master, it's almost dark,the old master called to ask where will you stay tonight?" A respectful voice interrupted her thought. He looked at the man in his 40's standing next to him. He had a short cropped hair and amicable lack eyes. He is Cha Eun woo . His trusted bodyguard and personal driver. He was personally picked by his grandfather to serve him. However,he choose not to marry. He used to serias a guard to his mother. Rumors has it that the reason he never got married is because he loved his mother.
"I am going to my mother's house. Tell grandfather I will visit him tomorrow." He answered. It was around two hours ago when he landed In Seoul. The place where he was born.
He looked back at the photo in his hands then at the tombstone Infront of him. He let out a long sigh and allowed himself a few minutes of mourning.
"I am back mother ! I am back" he murmured before walking away from his mother's tomb.
