Work Text:
Vee fidgeted in the office chair that was comically large compared to any toon. She felt uncomfortable here, as if there were millions of eyes on her.
Delilah leaned back in the chair behind her own desk. "So, Vee. I imagine you know why I called you here?"
"It's about... Version 2, right?" Vee spit out the words like it was a curse, burning on her tongue. "You already know that I do not need a replacement. I am perfectly capable."
"Vee, this new version will act exactly like you. It will have no need for constantly replaced batteries. It won't be constantly rude."
"Rude?" Vee sat up straight in the chair. "You say I'm rude? Wasn't Arthur the one who designed me? Maybe you should blame him for designing my personality."
"You're not supposed to know that." Delilah Keen folded her arms. "I'm acting off of what is best for you, and us. Wouldn't it be wonderful for you to not have to keep batteries on hand? It'd be cheaper, as well."
Vee stared in disgust at the founder. "How will you even recreate me? How will you give me a whole new body while keeping me the same? You won't, since you said she wont be rude. I'll be dead, and some filthy clone will be walking through the halls like she owns it all. Of course you're doing this just for the money."
"Watch your tone." Delilah shook her head "I have already spoken to Veronica beforehand, and she agreed that it'll be best for you to have a replacement."
She was lying through her own teeth, and Delilah knew it.
Vee's eyes widened in shock. "She wouldn't do that to me. I know herー bzzzt." Microphone static sliced through the air as Vee's microphone glitched uncontrollably. A line of colors ran through her screen before vanishing.
Her computer components tended to glitch out under great stress, and that was what was happening at the moment.
Delilah took it as agreement.
"Those pesky glitches will be fixed, as well. You may leave."
Vee stared up at Delilah, shock running through her electric gaze.
"You can't justー..."
Vee turned around, opening the door, and walking out, her microphone clasped in her hand.
This was such a mess.
