Side Story 3: Before the Puzzle Unraveled: The Ancient Court's Verdict on the Future World

Summary:

Deep within the divine halls of the Egyptian afterlife, before the Pharaoh is ever released from his golden vessel, the ancient court sits in hushed alignment. Granted a vision through a celestial mirror, the guardians of the Nile are forced to witness the late-20th-century world—and the shocking echoes of their own legacies.

From the quiet, tearful schoolyard days of Season 0 to the high-tech corporate arenas of Death-T and the cosmic table-top horrors of the Monster World RPG, the court watches a timid boy named Yugi Muto solve the impossible. For Priest Set, looking upon his cold, dragon-obsessed reincarnation Seto Kaiba is an insult to his honor. For Shimon, seeing himself as a frail card merchant is a surreal paradox. Meanwhile, Priestess Isis watches with a heavy heart as the tragic future of the Tomb Keeper line—Ishizu, Marik, and Odion—begins to bleed into focus through the viewport. As the true Pharaoh awakens from the gold to cast his absolute judgments, the court must reconcile ancient Ma'at with a modern era built on friendship, digital cards, and concrete.

Spanning Season 0, the grand trials of Duel Monsters, and the legacy shifts of Book 3, the past watches the future rewrite destiny.

Chapter 1: The Descent of Gold and the Inverted Crown

Act I: The Discovery and the Face of the Unborn Pharaoh

The divine chamber of the Egyptian Court sat hushed. Without the physical presence of Pharaoh Atem or the Thief King Bakura—both still deeply locked away as slumbering forces inside their respective resting relics—the ancient guardians and royalty observed the shimmering window into the late-20th-century world. The translation of the text materialized as glowing hieroglyphs beneath the moving images, mapping out the very first moments of the chronological rerecording.

"Splendid!" a voice crackled from the mirror's depth as the dusty earth of a subterranean tomb was unearthed. "Plunderers haven't gotten this one yet! Professor! That's... This box!"

Pharaoh Aknamkanon leaned forward sharply on his throne, his regal features tightening as the light of the future world revealed the excavation site. "The sacred burial valley... broken into by men dressed in strange, textless garb," he murmured, a profound sorrow weighing down his voice. "They treat our eternal rest as a mere hunt for treasures, completely blind to the spiritual boundary they have crossed."

Aknadin let out a low, gravelly breath, his single eye widening as he stared through the viewport at the heavy rectangular container. "The gold... the precise weight of the dark metal," he whispered, his scarred hand twitching beneath his heavy robes. "I know the exact heat of the forge that shaped that vessel. It is the box of the crown. It has been unearthed by mortals who look upon it with mere academic curiosity rather than holy fear."

On the screen, a tremor shook the underground chamber. The excavation team began to panic, clutching their heads as the air turned thick with ancient malice. "What if this is the Yami Ga... Professor! Professor! Pull yourself together! That is the Puzzle of Yami!"

Mahad stood completely rigid, his hand instinctively resting on his chest where his personal sorcery resonated. "The common man collapses from the mere proximity of the artifact. The spiritual miasma left behind by the shadows of our era is striking back at them. They speak of a 'Yami Game'—a game of darkness—yet they have no instruments, no relics to defend their souls against it."

Isis raised her hand to her throat, her eyes filled with pity as she watched the panic on screen. "The item rejects those whose intentions are purely superficial. It has slept for generations, and the moment it is brought into the light of the sun, it takes its first toll. The curse they fear is simply the lingering judgment of Egypt."

The viewport suddenly flashed, dissolving the dark, crumbling tomb into a bright, noisy courtyard paved with hard stone and filled with strangely dressed children. "Afternoon break! Let's play basketball! I'll wait for the girls! Hey Yuugi," the voices chimed out. As the camera shifted and focused on the small, spike-haired boy sitting quietly on the steps, an absolute, freezing silence slammed into the divine hall.

Mana let out a sharp gasp, her fingers dropping her magician's staff as it clattered against the stone floor. She pointed a trembling finger at the display, her eyes wide with total shock. "My... My Prince?! No, wait—he's so tiny! But his face... his hair... look at his eyes! Set, look at him! It's the Pharaoh!"

Priest Set stood completely frozen, his grip tightening so violently on his Millennium Rod that his knuckles turned white. His sharp eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as he stared at the boy named Yugi. "Impossible... The soul of Prince Atem rests inside the royal chambers of the palace this very moment, yet this future creature carries his exact lineage in his features. Look at the structure of his jaw, the fierce shape of his brow... it is an undeniable mirror of the royal bloodline."

On the screen, a group of boys walked past the solitary figure on the steps. "Don't just play by yourself. Why not play basketball with us sometime? Eh? That's alright. The team I join would lose..." Yugi muttered, looking down at his knees.

Shimon Muran stared intensely at the small boy, a sudden, peculiar throb pulsing behind his temples—a biological echo that made his ancient hands feel remarkably heavy. "He looks like the Prince, yet his spirit is entirely inverted," Shimon whispered, his voice shaking with a deep, unsettling confusion. "Our Prince carries the fire of the sun; he commands the court with absolute authority. This boy speaks with a defeatist tongue, pulling himself away into corners so he will not burden others. How can a face of such majesty house a soul so fragile?"

Karim stepped forward, examining the boy's spiritual posture on the screen. "His heart lacks any trace of aggression, Priest Set. In our world, a royal youth carrying that face would be forced into the vanguard to prove his strength. In their world, he seems to walk like a phantom whom his peers bypass without a second thought."

Yugi sighed on the screen, opening a small bag. "I wish I could play a game with everyone sometimes. I always bring a lot of games to school too..."

Kisara stepped out from the shadow of a pillar, her pale hand moving to touch the edge of the viewing pane as Yugi voiced his quiet desire. "He does not wish for power, or gold, or dominance," she whispered softly, her voice filled with a distant empathy. "He merely wishes to be included. He looks exactly like a ruler of Egypt, yet he brings small treasures to this courtyard in hopes that someone will simply share a moment of joy with him. His loneliness is a heavy cloak."

Shada raised the Millennium Key slightly, his eyes narrowing as he sensed the spiritual weight of the boy's words. "A pure soul, unburdened by the desire to conquer. It is a terrifying paradox. The face of an absolute ruler, combined with the absolute humility of a servant. It makes the spiritual current around him incredibly volatile."

The boy's eyes suddenly lit up as he clutched a golden box inside his bag. "Ah, that's right! What if I finish THAT today! I've always got it with me. It's my treasure!"

Pharaoh Aknamkanon stood up from his seat entirely, his ancient eyes tracking the boy's movements as Yugi reached into his bag. When the gold-trimmed box was pulled into the sunlight, the old Pharaoh felt his chest tighten.

"The resemblance cannot be a mere trick of the light," Aknamkanon declared, his voice echoing with absolute authority through the hall. "The artifact has traveled across oceans of time, away from the sands of our kingdom, only to find its way into the hands of a boy who bears the exact likeness of my son. The threads of destiny are remarkably precise. He carries the box of the crown, and he looks like the crown itself."

Act II: The Rising Extortion and the Shadow of the Past

The glowing viewport within the Egyptian Court shifted seamlessly through time. The court members, still reeling from the shocking revelation that this modern boy carried the exact visage of Prince Atem, watched as the boy's daily life unraveled.

In the classroom, Yugi held up the ornate container, a soft smile on his face. "In this box, is my treasure, but it's a complete secret. So, here's the quiz... The treasure in this box is something you can see, but you've never seen before."

Priest Set leaned heavily on his staff, his eyes tracing the riddle. "A riddle of sight and form. The boy speaks with the rhythm of an initiate presenting a riddle to the High Priests, yet he wastes it on a common playground. A tragic squandering of the face he wears."

Mana clutched her hands together, a brilliant smile breaking through her awe. "But it's a wonderful riddle, Set! Something you can see, but you've never seen before! It means it only takes its shape when you put it together! He thinks exactly like a magician!"

The scene shifted abruptly to conflict. A taller student with a fierce scowl snatched the box from Yugi's hands, lifting him by his collar. "Let me coach you into being more of a man! Come on, you want this box back right?!" Jounouchi barked. Yugi cowered, tears pricking his eyes as he cried out: "I... I hate fighting and violence!!"

Mahad let out a slow, weighted breath as the tall youth aggressively cornered Yugi. "To bear the precise countenance of our Prince, yet to proclaim an absolute hatred for conflict... it is a terrifying subversion. A royal heir who flees from a challenge would invite civil ruin in our era."

Aknadin’s single eye burned with a dark intensity. "The boy denies his blood. Prince Atem would have summoned a Ka to crush a street thug who dared touch the royal artifacts. This modern mirror simply cowers, holding his hands over his face. He is a shell without the fire."

Later, after the confrontation, the screen showed Yugi walking with a girl named Anzu, looking down dejectedly. "But, Jounouchi-kun isn't that bad a guy..." Yugi mumbled. Anzu snapped back crossly: "Saying that about such a guy is why people mock you."

Isis softly adjusted her headpiece, her eyes reflecting a profound respect as she watched Yugi defend his own tormentor to his friend. "The court calls it weakness, but look deeper. He possesses a rare spiritual sight. He sees past the tall youth’s crude armor and recognizes a fractured soul, not an enemy. He offers mercy where our laws would demand retribution."

Pharaoh Aknamkanon nodded slowly, his regal demeanor softening. "A ruler must know when to strike, but a true protector knows when to endure. The boy lacks the sword, but he possesses the shield of absolute empathy. It is an unexpected virtue."

The mirror's view warped as a massive, intimidating student in a trench coat stepped into the corridor, looming over Yugi with an insidious grin. "From now on, I, Ushio, will be your bodyguard, Yuugi-kun. With I, Ushio, with you, your student life will be all rose colored."

Priest Set spat onto the stone floor, his disgust radiating through the room. "A mercenary’s trap. He offers protection not out of loyalty to the crown or the state, but to cultivate a debt. This 'Ushio' carries the stench of a corrupt vizier seeking to manipulate a weak heir."

Shimon Muran sighed, his ancient hands resting on his robes. "And the boy is too naive to see the net closing around him. He smiles and bows, completely unaware that the wolves are already counting his gold."

The viewport shifted to a dimly lit game shop where Yugi’s grandfather recounted the dark history of the artifact. "An excavation team found the Millennium Puzzle... They brought the Pharaoh's box from a giant valley... But, everyone in the excavation died-mysteriously." The Egyptian Court grew entirely rigid as the words echoed across thousands of years.

Mahad stepped forward, his magical aura flaring slightly. "The curse of the valley... the tomb guards we left behind did their duty well. Yet, the old merchant speaks of it so casually, as if it were a simple ghost story to entertain children."

Aknadin let out a low, raspy chuckle. "They died because the gold demands a blood sacrifice to awaken. The puzzle does not permit common thieves to handle its weight. It waited. It traveled the world, rejecting thousands of souls until it found the one face that could match its origin."

The scene broke violently to a rain-slicked alleyway later that evening. Jounouchi and Honda lay battered and bleeding on the pavement, with Ushio standing over them like a ruthless conqueror. He smirked as Yugi approached. "What do you think, Yuugi-kun? What is this? That's why we've been punishing these bullies."

Mana covered her mouth, her eyes tearing up. "No! This is horrible! He beat them half to death! Yugi never asked for this! Look at how terrified he is!"

Priest Set’s eyes flashed with an ominous light. "The trap springs. The mercenary displays his 'work' to demand his tribute. Look at the boy with the face of our Prince—he throws himself over his former enemies to shield them from the giant. He acts as a human shield for those who stole from him."

Yugi wept, holding his hands out to protect the fallen boys. "Do you think... I can do that to my friends?!" Ushio blinked down in utter confusion, muttering: "Friends?"

Shimon Muran’s voice trembled with a deep, historic realization. "He calls them friends... the very ones who humiliated him. Prince Atem would approve in this situation. The bloodline has transformed from a force of absolute judgment into an instrument of absolute salvation."

Pharaoh Aknamkanon stood up completely from his throne, his voice echoing with majestic weight. "The trial is complete. The heart of the boy has proven itself pure under the weight of extortion and violence. The Millennium Puzzle will no longer remain silent. Watch the table... the gold is beginning to move."

The screen narrowed into Yugi’s small bedroom. Ushio's harsh parting words echoed through the room: "Total cost of my bodyguard fees, 20,000 yen." Yugi wept over the table, his tears splashing onto the gold. "Why me... How can I be working on the puzzle at a time like this..." Under the crushing stress of the extortion, the boy’s hands began moving over the scattered golden pieces with a blinding, terrifying speed.

Mahad watched in absolute awe. "The spatial geometry is resolving itself without his conscious thought. The spirit within the puzzle is drawing him in, aligning the cosmic axis. The modern era is about to meet the ancient law."

Isis closed her eyes, bowing her head slightly. "The scales are balancing. The true Pharaoh is about to awaken."

Act III: The Judgment of the Shadow Game

The divine chamber held its breath as the viewport focused entirely on the final, dark turning point of the recording. The golden artifact on screen was near completion, and the transition from desperate boy to ancient arbiter was absolute.

Yugi's fingers flew across the artifact, his breathing slowing. "But I'm doing better than usual. Weird... I feel like crap... ...I feel like I'm going to solve the puzzle today. There... Wow! Perhaps... Perhaps...?!"

Mahad watched the final golden pieces click into place under Yugi's hands, his own sorcerous aura flaring in response. "The spatial geometry is resolving without his conscious thought. The soul sleeping within the artifact is drawing him into alignment with the cosmic axis. The modern world has no shield for what is about to step through."

Aknadin’s single eye burned with a sharp, recognition-filled intensity. "He has completed the vessel. The architecture of the shadows I forged has found its true anchor in the future."

With a final click, the center piece slid home. "I did it!" Yugi yelled. Suddenly, an explosive, blinding aura of dark violet energy erupted from the puzzle, filling the boy's bedroom and bleeding into the viewing mirror itself.

Kisara shrank back against a stone pillar, her voice dropping to a terrified whisper. "The light... it is not the light of the sun! The shadows are alive, dancing to the rhythm of the gold! Look at his stature—he is changing!"

Shada raised the Millennium Key, feeling the spiritual atmosphere in the hall turn completely cold. "The child's fragile Ka is not being destroyed; it is being layered. A vast, sleeping reservoir of royal authority has just claimed its modern vessel."

The boy on the screen stood up, his eyes opening to reveal a sharp, terrifying intensity, a deep smirk playing on his lips. "The game... has begun," he intoned.

Priest Set dropped the butt of his staff hard against the stone floor, his voice barely a whisper. "That tone... that absolute authority. It matches the majesty of the throne, yet it is detached from a living body. The face of the boy has hardened into a true judge of the dark."

Mana clutched her robes, staring at the screen with tears of awe in her eyes. "He doesn't look afraid anymore. He doesn't look small at all. Go get him, Yugi... show that monster the power of the kingdom!"

The scene cut directly to the rain-drenched rooftop of the school. Ushio stood beneath his umbrella, waiting impatiently. The door hissed open, and the transformed figure walked slowly through the storm, completely unbothered by the downpour. "H-Hey! Who are you?!" Ushio stammered, stepping back. "What? Did you bring the money, Yuugi?"

Karim assessed the change in presence. "The physical vessel remains small, but the center of gravity has shifted entirely. The extortionist thinks he is dealing with the weeping boy, blind to the executioner standing before him."

Pharaoh Aknamkanon watched the screen with grim satisfaction. "The shadow has taken the stage. It is time for the Yami Game to extract its price."

The dark youth walked up to the edge of the roof, looking up through his spiky bangs. "Hey, the money... Here it is. Look closely," he said, holding up a stack of paper that suddenly transformed into an illusion of wealth.

Isis covered her mouth, her eyes wide as she witnessed the illusion manifest on the screen. "He has dragged the mortal's consciousness directly into the shadow realm. The landscape of the future has been rewritten by the ancient laws of judgment."

Aknadin laughed softly, a raspy sound of pure approval. "A proper stage! He tests the greed of the criminal. The money is the bait, and the abyss is the penalty for failure."

The pieces of the game manifested on a narrow ledge over the drop. "The rules of the game are simple," the Pharaoh's vessel explained coldly. "We take turns moving our pieces. The one who gets to the top wins."

Priest Set leaned forward, his sharp eyes calculating the tactical movements of the game. "The soldier fights with brute force, but the Pharaoh fights with the inevitability of the law. Every step the giant takes out of greed simply narrows his path to survival. He is constructing his own scaffold."

Shimon Muran nodded slowly, his eyes shining with profound recognition. "It is the exact logic of the ancient courts. We do not destroy the guilty with our own hands; we allow their own corruption to tip the scales against them."

On the screen, Ushio tried to cheat, lunging forward to strike the dark youth, only for the ground beneath him to fracture into a deep, endless void of darkness. The Pharaoh's voice cut through the abyss like a blade: "Ushio-san, you've broken the rules. The door of darkness has been opened."

Mana shielded her eyes from the intense, dark purple energy swirling on the screen, though she peeked through her fingers. "He fell! The darkness swallowed him up entirely! Is... is he dead?"

Mahad shook his head, his face solemn. "Worse. His physical body remains, but his soul has been broken by the weight of his own malice. The Penalty Game has shattered his mind to ensure he can never prey upon the innocent again. It is an absolute, irreversible sentence."

The screen shifted to the next morning, bright and clear. Jounouchi walked up to Yugi in the schoolyard, his aggressive posture completely gone. He scratched his neck, smiling softly. "Jounouchi-kun, morning!" Yugi chirped happily.

Kisara smiled softly, her hand relaxing against the stone pillar. "Look... the tall youth has mended his ways. The intervention of the shadow did not just punish the wicked; it cleared the path for true companionship to take root."

Isis observed the scene with a deep, prophetic warmth. "The puzzle has given the boy what his heart desired most. He sought friends, and through the gold, the first genuine bond has been forged."

On the screen, Yugi smiled up at Jounouchi, answering the riddle from the day before. "Something you can see, but you've never seen before... ...is friendship!"

Pharaoh Aknamkanon stood tall as the music swelled and the viewport began to slowly fade into darkness. The glowing hieroglyphs beneath the screen softened, signaling the conclusion of the first chapter.

"The riddle is answered," the old Pharaoh declared, his voice carrying the full, majestic weight of his lineage. "A face of royal power, a heart of absolute humility, and a weapon born of pure shadow. Our kingdom has ended, but through this boy Yugi and the soul awakened within the gold, the justice of Egypt will walk the earth once more."

Chapter Text

Act I: The Dark Knowledge and the Grandfather's Face

The ethereal chamber of the watching mirror hummed with a quiet, ancient power. For the Egyptian court, time did not flow linearly here; they were looking forward into a distant, bizarre future where stone tablets had been replaced by neon signs and strange metal contraptions.

"Look," Shimon Muran whispered, his long robes shifting as he stepped closer to the edge of the glass. On the screen, a young boy with gravity-defying hair was talking to an elderly man with wild white hair and a green vest.

"What?!" the old man on the screen exclaimed. "You've really completed the Millennium Puzzle? Unbelievable! Since it was discovered this century, not one person has solved it."

Shimon gasped, his hands flying to his mouth. "The Pharaoh's puzzle... it is complete. But that old man... why does his face look like a reflection of my own when I look into a still pool?"

"He carries your exact disposition, Shimon," Pharaoh Aknamkanon observed gently, his eyes wide as he stared at the screen. "But look at the boy. He has completed my son's resting place. Yet... he does not look like a vessel of war."

Priest Set crossed his arms, his eyes narrowing fiercely. "He looks fragile. Weak. How could a boy like that hold the dark knowledge and power carved into the box?" He looked at the inscription displayed on the screen: 'Thou who completes me will receive my dark knowledge and power.' "If the Pharaoh is inside that boy, why hasn't he taken over? The boy claims his only wish was to make... friends."

"Because it is a pure wish, Set," Mana said softly, her hands clasped tightly against her chest. She stared at the screen, her heart aching with a profound, unexplainable familiarity. "The boy... Yugi... he feels like family. If the Pharaoh chose him, then he must have a heart capable of holding the darkness."

"I sense something else," Mahad murmured, stepping beside Mana. His eyes locked onto the screen as Yugi smiled. "A secondary presence slumbers within that gold. The shadow has not yet fully awoken, but the bond is forged. But look... the scene is changing. The future is a chaotic place."

Act II: The Decrees of the Future and the Burger Secret

The mirror flickered, moving away from the game shop and into the bustling streets of Domino City. The court watched in utter fascination as teenagers in blue school uniforms walked down the street, speaking of a place called "Burger World."

"Burger World?" Karim questioned, adjusting his stance. "Is this a kingdom? A palace of meat?"

"It seems to be a tavern of some sort," Isis analyzed, her eyes fixed on a young woman with short brown hair who was lecturing her classmates. "Don't joke! I heard that restaurant's food was terrible!" the girl, Anzu, said on the screen.

Isis blinked, a sudden warmth washing over her. She pressed a hand to her chest. "That girl... Anzu. She speaks with such fierce protection over her own path. There is an elegance to her spirit, even when she is angry."

"She is hiding something," Aknadin rasped, his cold eyes tracking the movements of the teenagers. "The blond one—Jounouchi—and the small one, Yugi, suspect her of 'dating for pay.' A dishonorable assumption. But the future children lack discipline."

"Look at the other girl—Miho!" Mana pointed, giggling slightly as the screen showed the boy, Honda, acting strangely. "They think they are all keeping secrets! They are going to follow her!"

The screen shifted into the interior of Burger World. When Anzu appeared on screen wearing a brightly colored fast-food uniform, the court went completely silent.

"Wh-what are you saying?! Can't you tell?! It's a part-time job!" Anzu shouted on screen, her face flushed with embarrassment as she dropped a massive amount of ketchup on Jounouchi's burger.

"She works to earn her own path," Priest Set noted, a rare, small glint of respect in his eyes. He watched as Anzu explained her dream: "I'm saving money. When I graduate, I'm going to America... I'm going to study dance in New York. It's my dream."

"She wishes to cross the great oceans to learn the arts of dance," Kisara whispered, speaking up from the back of the chamber. Her blue eyes shone as she stared at Anzu. "She works in secret, enduring their mockery, just to see a world beyond her own. It is beautiful."

"But danger approaches," Shada warned, the Millennium Key around his neck pulsing with a faint light. "The mirror is showing us a convergence. A shadow is entering the tavern."

Act III: The Shadow of the Hedgehog

The screen turned dark and tense. The news broadcast on the screen detailed an escaped criminal: Tasaki Tetsu, Tetsu the Hedgehog. A man who had broken out of prison and was currently hiding out, armed with a pistol.

"A criminal who hides beneath masks," Aknadin muttered, his grip tightening on his robes. "He mocks the authorities. He lacks honor."

On screen, Tetsu entered Burger World, sitting at a table with a heavy demeanor. The tension exploded as a police officer entered, declaring that the escaped convict was suspected to be in the building. The officer explained the culprit's fatal flaw: "The culprit should have a bruise on his calf where a guard hit him."

"He is trapped," Karim said, his eyes narrowing. "The law of this future world is tracking him down, but he has a weapon of fire and iron. If he is backed into a corner, the innocent children will be caught in the crossfire."

The screen showed Anzu and the others watching in terror as the police began checking the legs of the customers. Tetsu was sitting just a few paces away, his hand slowly reaching toward his jacket where the pistol was concealed.

"The Pharaoh's vessel is there," Pharaoh Aknamkanon said, his voice rising with royal authority. "Yugi is standing right beside the danger. If that man draws his weapon..."

"The shadow will wake," Mahad predicted, his magical aura flaring slightly within the chamber. "The puzzle has been completed. The ancient soul within it will not allow harm to come to those who granted him a home."

Priest Set stepped directly up to the mirror, his eyes locked onto the form of Tetsu. "Let us see what this 'dark knowledge and power' truly is. Show us how the Pharaoh rules from the shadows of the future."

The mirror flared with a sudden, brilliant violet light, the golden eye of the Millennium Puzzle flashing on the screen as the acts of the past prepared to judge the sins of the future.

Chapter 3: The Broken Reflection of the High Priest

Chapter Text

Act I: The Theft of Destiny

In the timeless, celestial halls of the Egyptian Afterlife, a silent court gathered around the glowing waters of the mystic pool. The majestic Pharaoh Aknamkanon sat upon his shimmering throne, his wise eyes watching the shifting reflections of the mortal realm below. Beside him stood Shimon Muran, leaning heavily on his staff of office, while the great sorcerer Mahad and his bright apprentice, Mana, kept a respectful vigil.

Slightly removed from the rest of the court stood High Priest Set, his arms crossed over his chest, his stoic face a mask of absolute discipline. Standing close to his side was Kisara, her spirit radiating a pure, moonlit white luminescence, her ethereal eyes fixed entirely on the shifting ripples of the water.

Behind them, the other sacred guardians of the millennium items watched in solemn alignment. Aknadin, his face etched with severe lines and an unreadable, heavy intensity, stared fixedly at the pool. Beside him, Isis stood with hands clasped over her chest, her serene demeanor hiding a sharp, defensive focus. Karim and Shada stood like stone pillars, their respective millennium scale and key anchored to their spirits, ready to weigh the moral balance of what was to transcend generations.

"The patterns of fate are tightening," Aknamkanon spoke softly, his voice echoing through the endless halls. "My son Atem remains sealed away from us, locked in an ancient struggle within the Millennium Puzzle, alongside the spirit of the Thief King. Yet, the wheel of reincarnation turns, and a new presence is stepping into the light."

Through the surface of the mystic pool, the sounds and sights of the modern world began to bleed into the divine courtroom. The scene opened on a dark, desolate corridor where a brutal shakedown was taking place. A terrified high school student was backed against the lockers, trembling as towering brutes closed in on him.

"This guy doesn't know when to give up," a cold, aggressive voice sneered from the screen of the water.

The young student held a single, beautifully illustrated card tight against his school uniform, tears cutting tracks through the dust on his face. "This card is a memento of my father... That's why... please! Don't take it!"

"Let go!" a brute barked, grabbing the boy's wrist and twisting it with savage force.

"Not yet? Hey! Fork it over! Now! Take it!"

With a sickening crunch, the card was torn out of the student's hands. He collapsed to his knees, sobbing into his palms. The massive thug turned around, bowing his head respectfully toward a young man waiting in the shadows of a sleek, expensive vehicle parked at the curb.

"With this, we've got all the cards we wanted from this school," the thug reported with a low chuckle, handing the stolen prize over. "Young master."

The divine courtroom held its collective breath. Through the pool, the title of the unfolding mortal drama manifested like an ominous prophecy across the water: "Clash! The strongest monster."

The older bodyguard tapped on the tinted glass window of the limousine. "Young master... there are other schools where cards are popular."

As the luxury car sped away from the broken student, the face of the "young master" was briefly illuminated by the passing streetlights.

In the Afterlife, a sharp, synchronous gasp echoed through the court. Mana’s hands flew to her mouth, and Mahad took a step forward, his magical energies flaring slightly in surprise. Shimon Muran stared down, his jaw tightening beneath his long white beard.

The young man in the car possessed razor-sharp features, an unyielding posture, and eyes like frozen steel. He was the perfect, mirror image of High Priest Set.

"By the gods..." Mahad whispered, looking from the pool up to the living priest standing beside him. "The resemblance is undeniable. The face, the stature, the sheer gravity of his presence..."

Set did not move. His blue eyes locked onto his own reflection in the pool, his expression hardening into stone. "He carries my physical form," Set said, his voice dropping into a low, critical rumble. "But his heart is completely hollow. Look at him. He sits in luxury, using his power to rob those who cannot fight back. He treats his fellow men like dirt beneath his sandals."

Kisara stepped closer, her hand hovering just over Set’s tightly clenched fist. "Set... look past the coldness. He is protecting himself with a fortress of iron. I can feel a deep, wintery sorrow buried beneath his pride."

"Pride is a shield to defend the kingdom, Kisara," Set replied firmly, refusing to let his understanding cloud his ultimate judgment. "This boy uses it as a weapon of petty tyranny. I know the temptation of ambition—I know how easily the shadow can whisper to a powerful mind—but I will not excuse it. If he disgraces the spirit he carries, I will be the first to demand he be broken."

Aknadin stepped into the light of the pool, his ancient eyes fixated on the cold profile of Seto Kaiba. A heavy, complex shadow crossed his face—a mixture of agonizing familiarity and an unsettling, underlying pride. "He builds an empire of metal and wealth to insulate himself from the world," Aknadin murmured, his voice sounding like dry papyrus. "He values absolute superiority. It is a dangerous path, yet it is born of a desire to never be helpless again."

Isis raised her head, her deep eyes clouded with cosmic concern. "The Millennium Tauk pulses against my breast. The strings of his future are chaotic, frayed by an unyielding ego. He denies the unseen world entirely, yet he is completely bound to its ancient debts."

Shada stepped forward, holding the golden Millennium Key slightly aloft. "His mind is a sealed tomb, guarded by walls of iron and cynicism. To look into his soul would be to view a tempest of absolute denial."

Karim crossed his heavy arms, his deep voice carrying the resonance of a balance sheet. "He takes what he desires without offering anything of equal spiritual value. The scale would tip heavily into the shadows if he were weighed this day."

Act II: The Strong Beautification Week

The water shifted, bright classroom sunlight filtering through the ripples to replace the dark streets. Yuugi Mutou sat at his desk, eagerly spreading out a small collection of cards for his friends to see.

"Duel Monsters?" Jounouchi asked, leaning over the desk with a look of pure confusion as he picked up one of the cards.

"Yeah. It became popular when I was in third grade," Yuugi explained with a bright, innocent grin. "It's started to become popular at other schools too."

Anzu leaned over Yuugi’s shoulder, her eyes lighting up at the intricate colors. "Pretty!"

"There are thousands of types!" Yuugi beamed, proud of his hobby.

Jounouchi blinked, his head spinning. "That many? So... how do you play?"

Yuugi quickly pointed to the numbers printed in the corners of the card frame. "This is a card battle game. Look! The defense and attack points are written right? Further, you fight your opponent's cards on this field."

Jounouchi grinned, his competitive spirit flaring. "Seems fun."

"Really?!" Yuugi asked, thrilled to share his passion.

Before Jounouchi could answer, a shadow fell over the desk. Honda stood over them, his arms crossed tightly, looking down at the cards with absolute disdain. "I don't like these kinds of childish games."

Jounouchi’s smile vanished, his eyebrows drawing together angrily. "You don't mean 'childish game'... ...you mean 'game where you use your head'!" He leaned forward, pointing an aggressive finger. "Honda... what's that mean?!"

Honda didn't even flinch. "As you heard, no secret meanings here."

"You bastard!" Jounouchi yelled, rolling up his sleeves. Then, his eyes locked onto a bizarre piece of white cloth tied around Honda’s arm. "By the way, what's with the getup?"

Honda puffed out his chest proudly, adjusting his official armband. "This? These cards are popular right now right? With such a collection item... .there will be those who'll obtain rare cards through unjust means."

Jounouchi scoffed, thoroughly unimpressed. "Really, over these cards?"

"There are people in America who come here to buy just one card," Yuugi chimed in, defending the game. "Grandpa is also a mania."

"That's it!" Honda barked, slamming his fist onto the desk. "I, as apart of Strong Beautification Week, will prevent illegal cards—"

"Hey! Hey! That's not really a 'beautification' person's job right?" Jounouchi interrupted, waving his hands frantically.

Honda picked up his broom, holding it like a royal staff. "A beautification member doesn't just clean the dirty... The first step is to prevent garbage! This is the beautification member's mission! However... There are few destined for this... ...I am the only one! So I set up Strong Beautification week to fight that... ...with this, the whole nation..."

In the Afterlife, Mana let out a soft giggle, her playful nature breaking the tension. "Master Mahad, look! That boy is completely obsessed with garbage! He reminds me of the palace guards who used to obsess over the cleanliness of the stables!"

Mahad offered a faint, patient smile, but Shimon Muran kept his gaze fixed on the doorway of the mortal classroom. "Peace, Mana. The catalyst arrives."

Act III: The Heir and the Counterfeit

The classroom door slid open with a sharp click, cutting Honda off right in the middle of his grand speech. The teacher stepped inside, raising her hands to quiet the murmurs.

"Right right! Mind if I interrupt? Today let's begin by introducing a transfer student."

Anzu leaned back in her chair, curious. "I wonder what kind of kid it'll be?"

"I hope it's a kid who likes games," Yuugi whispered hopefully.

The teacher turned to the open door. "Please come in."

Seto Kaiba walked into the room. He moved with a cold, absolute confidence, his uniform immaculate, his gaze scanning the ordinary classroom as if he were evaluating a piece of property he intended to buy.

"He's Kaiba Seto-kun," the teacher announced.

A wave of intense whispering immediately swept across the rows of desks. "Kaiba... you mean that... ...from the top class amusement industry, Kaiba Corporation?"

"Yes, he'll be the heir," the teacher confirmed proudly.

Kaiba gave a polite, practiced nod of his head. "Nice to meet you."

Jounouchi crossed his arms, leaning back with a heavy scowl. "Wonderful. A rich, spoiled brat. I can't stand those."

The teacher pointed toward the window column. "Ah! There's space next to Yuugi."

As Kaiba walked down the aisle, his eyes remained fixed straight ahead. But just as he pulled even with Yuugi's desk, Yuugi clumsily knocked a card loose, sending it fluttering directly to the floor at Kaiba's feet.

"Hey!" Yuugi gasped.

Kaiba stopped. He bent down with flawless, fluid grace and picked up the cardboard. His eyes widened slightly as he took in the image of the monster. He extended his hand, holding it out. "Duel Monsters right? Yours?"

"Thanks," Yuugi said, taking it back with a wide, open smile. "Are you into games?"

Kaiba’s face softened into a warm, friendly grin—a perfect mask of companionship. "Yeah! I love them!"

Down in the Afterlife, Set’s fist clenched so hard his knuckles turned white. "Look at that false smile," he hissed, his voice burning with deep disgust. "He wears my face, yet he uses it to play the part of a deceptive actor. He feels nothing for that boy; he is merely scanning for weakness."

Aknadin let out a quiet sigh, his eye following Kaiba's every movement. "Survival in a den of vipers requires masks, Set. Do not judge his deception too harshly; he plays a game where to show your true intent is to invite destruction. He is testing his perimeter."

Isis shook her head. "No, Aknadin. This is more than survival. He is manipulating innocence for a grander, darker prize. My necklace whispers of an obsession taking root this very second."

The pool fast-forwarded to the end of the school day. A massive black limousine idled by the school gates, and Kaiba leaned out of the rear tinted window, smiling at Yuugi.

"See you, Yuugi-kun. I'll be waiting, so definitely come."

"I'm definitely going!" Yuugi called back, waving happily as the car pulled away.

Jounouchi, Honda, and Miho ran up behind him, staring at the retreating tail lights. "What a great car! Hey, Yuugi, you're getting along already?" Jounouchi asked, completely stunned.

"Kaiba-kun is going to show me his card collection," Yuugi explained with a bounce in his step.

Miho clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling. "Kaiba-kun's house?! Miho wants to go too!"

Jounouchi immediately rolled up his sleeves, grinning widely. "Let's all go! I'm sure he'd be pleased!"

Anzu smiled, nodding along. "I'm sure looking forward to it!"

The ripples in the water settled on the grand iron gates of the Kaiba estate. Jounouchi stood frozen, his eyes bulging out of his head.

"Hey! Isn't there some law against an individual having such a large house!"

Anzu sighed, exasperated. "Of course not!"

They walked down a paved road that seemed to stretch on forever through manicured gardens. Jounouchi looked left and right, completely bewildered. "Not taxi right?"

Suddenly, the massive front doors of the mansion slid open, and Seto Kaiba stepped out onto the marble staircase, flanked by personal guards. "Hey everyone. Glad you made it. Please come in."

"Wow!" they yelled in unison, stepping into a foyer that looked more like an imperial palace.

Kaiba turned back to them, his tone perfectly polite. "Everyone came? I'm so pleased."

Anzu looked up at the soaring ceilings. "What an amazing mansion!"

Kaiba shrugged indifferently, checking his watch. "It's no big deal."

Jounouchi’s face twisted in pure financial agony. "If this is 'no big deal' then what would mine be?!"

Honda nudged him hard with an elbow. "Jounouchi, jealousy is most unsightly."

"Honda! You saying that hella pisses me off!" Jounouchi barked, turning on his friend with clenched fists.

Anzu quickly jumped between them, her face bright red. "Hey, you guys! Can you at least act properly here?"

Kaiba merely chuckled, his eyes remaining perfectly vacant. "It's all right. It's more fun if it's lively."

As they walked down the long, gilded hallway, Jounouchi lagged behind with Honda, glaring at the back of Kaiba's head. "That polished pig... ...I dislike him more and more."

Anzu whispered back, scolding him. "Really? He's rich but not snobby, seems like a good guy!"

Kaiba stopped before a massive set of double doors, opening them to reveal a glowing glass room. "Come, Yuugi-kun. This is my card collection."

Yuugi gasped, completely overwhelmed by the thousands of neatly sorted rare cards. "Wow!"

Jounouchi spotted a massive, glittering trophy sitting on a velvet pedestal. "What are those?"

"It's from when I won the Duel Monsters national tournament," Kaiba answered with a cold, untouchable pride.

Honda patted Jounouchi on the shoulder. "Give it up. He's way above you."

Miho ignored the cards entirely, sidling up to Kaiba with a sweet, fluttering expression. "Kaiba-kun! Instead of the cards... ...tell us about your amusement parks."

Kaiba smoothly reached into his coat, pulling out a set of golden vouchers. "Miho-chan, I have some tickets... I'll make a reservation for you at an amusement park."

Miho cheered, jumping up and down. "You're the best!"

Jounouchi gritted his teeth, his blood boiling. "Kaiba.. I can't stand him!"

Kaiba ignored the outburst, turning his intense, predatory gaze completely onto Yuugi. "That's right, Yuugi-kun, I bet you have some rare cards."

Yuugi rubbed the back of his neck, smiling sheepishly. "I don't have any."

Jounouchi suddenly piped up from the back. "Hey. Didn't you say earlier your Grandpa had an amazing card?"

Kaiba’s eyes locked onto Yuugi like a hawk tracking its prey. "I'd definitely like to see."

Jounouchi shoved Yuugi forward playfully. "Yuugi! Show it to him right away!"

"Yeah! Yeah!" Honda agreed.

Yuugi blinked, then smiled gently. "Then..."

Kaiba bowed his head, a dark, hidden anticipation radiating from his frame. "Thank you. I look forward to it."

Act IV: The Sanctuary of the Dragon

The mystic pool shifted its focus to the Turtle Game Shop. Sugoroku Mutou stood behind the glass counter, looking at his grandson and his ecstatic group of friends.

"My best card?!" the old man asked, blinking in surprise.

"Grandpa, please, can you show it?" Yuugi pleaded, placing his hands together.

"Please, definitely show it!" Jounouchi and Honda added, leaning over the counter.

Sugoroku let out a soft chuckle, a proud smile breaking across his old face. "Looks like I've got no choice! It'll be a moment. Where is it... Here it is."

He carefully placed a single, immaculate card face-up on the glass counter. Jounouchi leaned in, his eyes wide, expecting something physically encrusted with jewels.

"Th-this is...! What?! I thought it'd have diamonds or jewels attached to it! It's no different from the others."

Honda crossed his arms. "Right."

Sugoroku huffed, thoroughly insulted by their ignorance. "You guys don't get it. It's called Blue Eyes Dragon. It's so powerful its production was cancelled. Mania's would drool at this super rare card!"

Anzu smiled, looking closely at the card. "Saying it that way makes it seem more moving."

Suddenly, Honda jumped across the counter, pulling out his official Strong Beautification armband. "Grandpa! This kind of card is the most dangerous! As a beautification member, I must warn you! Please turn it over for safekeeping!"

Jounouchi hauled him back by his shirt collar. "Why would a beautification member care?"

Suddenly, the front door of the shop slammed open with a violent crash. Seto Kaiba stood in the doorway, his chest heaving, his immaculate hair disheveled, and his eyes completely wild with an obsessive, terrifying mania. He ran forward, slamming a massive, heavy silver briefcase onto the counter and flipping the heavy metal locks.

"Grandpa! Th-that Blue Eyes Dragon... ...please take all these cards in a trade for it!"

The briefcase burst open, revealing rows upon rows of glittering, ultra-rare cards worth millions. Jounouchi’s jaw hit the floor. "Amazing!"

Sugoroku didn't even blink. He looked down at the fortune in the trunk, then calmly up at Kaiba’s trembling form. "No."

Jounouchi fell backward onto the floor boards. "The refusal was also amazing!"

Kaiba shook with absolute fury, his teeth grinding together. "There's no way...?"

Sugoroku looked at the boy softly, his voice turning into a gentle, heavy lecture. "Kaiba-kun, right? I understand how you feel, but... I'm not keeping the card because it's rare... This card is something given to me from a good friend in America. It's a treasure filled with memory. There is no way I can part with it."

The old man placed a hand over his heart, looking deep into Kaiba's dark eyes. "Plus, truly precious treasures have your heart in it. This card too. That's why, Kaiba-kun too... ...you should cherish each card in your trunk."

Kaiba froze. The words struck his massive ego like a physical whip. He slowly reached out, his hands shaking as he slammed the heavy briefcase shut and snapped the locks back into place. The shadow over his face was pitch black.

"You're right. I was mistaken. I think I'll go home now."

As Kaiba turned and walked out into the pouring rain, Jounouchi cheered, patting Sugoroku on the back. "Grandpa, you said something great! I see you in a new light!"

But back in the Afterlife court, a tremendous, echoing roar shook the grand marble pillars to their foundations. The great, translucent spirit of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon materialized within the chamber, its massive wings unfurling in a burst of blinding, celestial light.

Set’s breath completely hitched. He staggered back a step, his eyes wide, his stoic facade completely shattering as he stared at the dragon. "Kisara..." he breathed, his voice cracking with an ancient grief that eternity could not erase.

Kisara walked up to the dragon's side, her fingers gently brushing against its glittering snout. Her face was full of deep, weeping sorrow as she looked down into the pool. "She remembers, Set... Her soul still recognizes his light. But look at him... he does not want her heart. He wants her power. He wants to own her so he never has to feel weak again."

Shada gripped his Millennium Key tighter as the dragon's aura fluctuated violently. "The dragon's heart is a mirror to the priest's own struggles. It cannot give its absolute allegiance to a mind plagued by darkness."

Karim watched the cosmic balance of the dragon's energy ripple across the court. "The boy wants an army, not a partner. He measures value entirely in numbers, ignoring the weight of a living soul."

Act V: The Shattering of the Mind

The pool shifted to the following morning at school. Jounouchi and Honda were huddled over a desk, playing a casual match of Duel Monsters while Anzu watched.

"Take your cards from the pile one by one," Honda instructed. "Then I'll start. Zombie! Attack points 800. Of course I place it in the graveyard field."

Jounouchi smirked, drawing a card and slamming it down. "I'm next. Dark Dragon! Attack points 1500! Alright! I win!"

Honda grinned. "I lost!"

Anzu pointed at the field map. "Honda-kun wins."

Jounouchi slammed his fists onto the desk. "Why?!"

"It's true Zombie's attack and defense are weaker than the Dark Dragon," Honda explained. "But its field is the graveyard. Zombie's power is doubled. Pick the right field, and your card's attack points go up."

Jounouchi groaned, putting his head in his hands. "Shit! My cards have the beautification's heart within them!"

Honda laughed. "A beautification like you in a zombie would be pretty dirty."

Anzu chimed in, teasing him. "Don't be a poor loser."

Yuugi walked into the classroom, waving to them. "Good morning."

Anzu turned around. "Jounouchi-kun and Honda-kun have started Duel Monsters too?"

Yuugi smiled warmly. "Yeah, they want to challenge Kaiba-kun."

Jounouchi puffed out his chest proudly. "That's THIS guy!"

"What?!" a cold, sharp voice interrupted.

They spun around to find Seto Kaiba standing over the desk, his textbook-perfect smile firmly back in place. He ignored Jounouchi entirely, walking straight to Yuugi. "Good morning, Yuugi-kun."

"Kaiba-kun," Yuugi greeted him.

Kaiba leaned in slightly, his tone smooth and deceptive. "By the way, about the phone call last night..."

"Yeah," Yuugi said, reaching into his bag and pulling out the card box. "I asked Grandpa and he let me borrow it for the day."

Kaiba’s eyes flared with an intense, terrifying hunger as he grabbed the case. "Thank you! I wanted to see this again so badly! He taught me to love cards. Here! Blue Eyes Dragon."

Yuugi smiled, completely oblivious to the trap. "Wow! Amazing each time I see it!"

Kaiba turned his back to the group, his face instantly twisting into a malicious, dark sneer as he slipped the authentic card into his sleeve and pulled out a flawless counterfeit. 'When I return it I'll switch it with a copy,' Kaiba thought to himself, his internal malice echoing clearly up into the Afterlife.

Kaiba spun back around, handing the counterfeit box back to the boy. "Thanks."

Yuugi took it, but the moment his fingers touched the box, he froze. A look of deep confusion and profound sadness crossed his face. He stared down at the card. "Sorry! Here."

Kaiba slid into his seat without another word.

In the Afterlife, the spirit of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon thrashed in absolute agony as it was shoved into Kaiba’s dark school pocket. Set’s spiritual pressure erupted, a brilliant aura of anger surrounding him. "Disgraceful thief!" Set roared, his fists shaking. "He dares defile her memory?! He dares steal her through petty tricks and lies?!"

"He has no honor," Mahad spoke, his face dark. "He treats a divine Ka as a trophy."

Kisara wept silently, looking down. "This card... it only shines when the rightful owner has it. He is choking her light."

Aknadin closed his eyes, his voice flat but heavy with sorrow. "He has crossed a threshold. To steal a power that belongs to a friend... he has invited the judgment of the shadows upon himself. He thinks he is clever, but he has merely sealed his fate."

The pool fast-forwarded to later that afternoon. Anzu found Yuugi sitting alone on a bench, staring blankly at the counterfeit card.

"Yuugi, aren't Jounouchi-tachi with you?" Anzu asked, looking around.

Yuugi looked up with worried eyes. "Well, they said they're going to play Kaiba in Duel Monsters."

Anzu’s face fell. "I thought you'd be with them, Yuugi. Jounouchi-kun and Honda-kun did?"

The water split, showing a dark, empty warehouse on the edge of school. Seto Kaiba stood with his arms crossed, a cruel smirk on his lips. Standing right behind him were five massive, heavily armed security guards. Jounouchi and Honda stood across from them, bleeding and battered.

"Calling me out here... ...what do you want?" Kaiba sneered.

Jounouchi spat blood onto the floor, his fists tightly clenched. "Don't play dumb, Kaiba. We know!"

Honda pointed an angry finger, his beautification armband torn. "You switched cards with Yuugi!"

Kaiba burst into a loud, mocking laugh. "How mean. There's no way I'd do that. That'd be stealing!"

"My beautification eyes don't miss a speck of dust, you can't fool me!" Honda shouted. "If you're smart, you'll be quiet and return it!"

Jounouchi growled, stepping forward. "There's no way he's smart! I couldn't stand him from the beginning!"

Kaiba’s smile vanished, his eyes turning murderous. He snapped his fingers. "You'll regret it."

The massive guards lunged forward. One thrown punch sent Jounouchi flying into the wall. "You punk!" he roared, struggling to stand.

"Jounouchi!" Honda screamed, trying to protect him, but a heavy baton struck him down to the floor. "You bastard!"

Kaiba stood over them, looking down at their broken bodies with utter satisfaction. "I hope you don't think badly of me. Their job is to protect the next president, me."

The warehouse doors blew open with a thunderous crash. Yuugi stood in the doorway, his chest heaving, his eyes wide with horror at his bleeding friends. As his rage reached a boiling point, the Millennium Puzzle flared with a blinding, golden light.

Inside the Puzzle, the ancient seal holding Atem's spirit vibrated with imperial power. The pharaonic presence surged forward, overtaking the mortal boy's soul. When Yuugi's eyes opened, they were sharp, royal, and terrifying. The Dark Yugi had taken control.

"Kaiba!" Atem’s voice boomed through the warehouse like thunder.

Seto Kaiba turned around, his cruel smirk returning. "A Shadow Game, Kaiba," Atem declared, challenging him to a duel where the cards would manifest with real, physical weight.

The duel was brutal. Kaiba used flawless, brilliant tactics, but his moves were fueled entirely by malice and a desperate need to dominate. Throughout the match, the spirits in the Afterlife watched in absolute silence. Set stood at the front, his eyes locked onto Kaiba's strategy.

"He commands his monsters as slaves to his ego," Set murmured softly, his critique turning into a heavy, solemn judgment. "He thinks power is found in isolation."

When Kaiba finally summoned the stolen Blue-Eyes White Dragon, the beast materialized in the warehouse, but its roar was a cry of pure agony, its spiritual energy fractured.

"Look at her," Set whispered, his hand trembling as he watched the dragon struggle. "She rejects him. She knows his heart is a prison of shadow."

Kisara stepped up beside Set, wrapping her hands gently around his arm. "He thinks that by owning her, he can never be hurt again. He is shattering his own soul just to hold onto her light."

With a swift, decisive counter-strategy, Atem completely dismantled Kaiba's offense. The illusion shattered, and Kaiba fell to his knees, frantically clutching his head as the weight of his own hubris crushed his mind.

Atem stepped forward, his purple cape billowing, the Eye of Wadjat glowing brilliantly upon his forehead.

"Mind Crush!" the Pharaoh commanded.

A burst of golden, purifying energy erupted from the Puzzle, completely shattering the dark, fragmented dome of Kaiba's ego and plunging his consciousness into a deep, silent coma so his heart could rebuild itself from the ruins.

Back in the Afterlife, the pool grew still once more, the image of Kaiba's slumped body slowly fading from the water.

"Will his mind survive the shattering?" Mana asked softly, clinging tightly to Mahad’s sleeve.

"He will," Set replied, his voice firm, entirely devoid of pity but filled with an unyielding faith. "If he truly shares a single drop of my spirit, he will not break permanently from this. He was arrogant, he was cruel, and he deserved to be broken. But the fire inside that soul is stubborn."

Aknadin stepped away from the water's edge, his expression somber but resolved. "The execution of the Mind Crush was just. The darkness inside him had grown too absolute. A king cannot rule over chaos without first mastering his own internal empire."

Isis touched her hand to her throat, her chest relaxing as the pulse of her millennium item settled into a peaceful rhythm. "The immediate path of calamity has been severed. The shadow that threatened to consume him has been forcibly cleared, leaving nothing but an empty canvas."

Shada bowed his head to the fading pool. "The lock on his soul has been completely undone. When he awakes, he will have to choose his own boundaries anew."

Karim let out a low breath, looking down into the perfectly balanced waters. "The debt has been paid in full for this hour. The scales rest in true equilibrium."

Set crossed his arms once more, turning away from the pool and walking back into the grand, golden recesses of the palace.

"Let him rebuild his heart in the dark," Set's final words echoed through the courtroom as the spirit of the White Dragon rested its head peacefully beside Kisara. "And when he wakes, we shall see if he is truly worthy of the beast he tries to command."

Chapter 4: The Scale of Truth

Chapter Text

Act I: The Fragmented Legacy

(The mirror ripples, displaying a bustling museum in Domino-cho where massive banners announce an "Excavation in Egypt!". The image details a small, spikey-haired mortal boy walking through the gates, a completed gold artifact hanging from his shoulders.)

Mana: (Grips her staff tightly, her lip trembling as she stares at the mirror) He’s so tiny… and his spirit looks so fragile. But that gold hanging from his chest… that’s the Millennium Puzzle! If the artifact is whole, does that mean His Majesty's soul is truly trapped inside it down there?

Mahad: (Staring intensely at the glowing reflection) It is exactly as we feared upon our passing. The Pharaoh’s true name and memories were locked away to protect the world. His soul rests in a state of eternal, sightless sleep inside that golden cage, waiting for this specific child to guide him. We are left here to watch, helpless to aid him.

Priest Set: (Crosses his arms, his scowl deepening as he watches the boy get teased by his school friends about a curse) It is infuriating. The vessel chosen to hold our sovereign is a weak-willed child who trembles at the mere mention of a mummy! Look at him. He hides his face. How can the fate of Egypt's magic rest on the shoulders of one who cannot even command his own peers?

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping forward, his royal robes glowing with a soft, sorrowful aura) Do not judge the boy harshly, Set. He is the key to my son's salvation. If the Puzzle has been completed after thousands of years, the wheel of destiny has finally begun to turn.

Isis: (Gently placing a hand over her own Millennium Necklace) The items are resurfacing in the mortal world. Look at the museum director, Kanekura, and his colleague. They have unearthed a royal tomb in the Valley of the Kings.

Aknadin: (Staring bitterly at the mortal men on screen) Look at them smile. They do not treat our sacred history with reverence. To that art dealer, the tombs of our ancestors are nothing more than a commerce floor to generate personal profit. The greed radiating from his soul is a sickness.

Karim: It is an absolute insult to the gods. They have disturbed a sacred burial site for the sake of material wealth. The balance of Ma'at is already tipping into darkness.

Act II: The Lineage of the Mirror

(The mirror shifts focus to the dim mummy display inside the museum. Standing directly in front of the rotted, exposed pharaonic remains is a mysterious Egyptian youth dressed in long, flowing robes, holding a golden scale. Tears stream silently down his face.)

Mana: (Gives a sudden, sharp gasp, pointing a frantic finger back and forth between the mirror and the line of priests) Wait a minute! Look at him! The man crying in the mirror… he looks exactly like…

Karim: (Turns around in absolute shock, his eyes widening) Shada?!

Shada: (Stares at the glass, completely paralyzed. His hand instinctively drops to the Millennium Key hanging at his hip) By the gods… He bears my exact face, my stature, and my very posture.

Priest Set: (Narrowing his eyes as he studies the reflection) First, we learned of my own future reincarnation in that wealthy Seto boy, and now you, Shada. Even before our souls are officially sent down to be reborn, the threads of our visages are already carving themselves into the future era.

Shada: (Whispering, his eyes fixed on his counterpart) I do not yet know his name, for he has not been born from my essence yet. But look at his eyes… he carries the weight of our sacred duty. Listen to him speak.

Shadi (On Screen): "These are not my tears. This rotted figure... it's almost like a puppet of dirt. Despite that, the soul of a great Pharaoh still lives within it. Prevented from its eternal slumber... The lamentation of its soul becomes tears within me."

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Sighing heavily, a deep pain in his voice) His words pierce my heart. When the living dig up our mortal remains and display our hollow vessels of clay as public entertainment, the soul itself laments across the boundaries of time.

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his long white beard) Look at the artifact he holds. It behaves exactly like the Millennium Scale. He claims to be a guardian of the graves, a disciple of Anubis. Shada, your spiritual descendant has arrived to deliver the wrath of the old kingdom.

Shada: (An expression of grim pride settling over his face) He is there to execute divine justice. And it seems his judgment will fall directly upon that greedy art dealer before the night ends.

Act III: The Scales of Ma'at

(The mirror darkens to pitch black as the museum closes for the evening. Inside Director Kanekura’s locked private office, the electrical lights suddenly snap out. Shadi materializes from the shadows, placing his heavy golden scale upon the desk.)

Shadi (On Screen): "Your dirty ambition has disturbed yet another god's sleep in the Valley of the Kings. And thus you will be judged here... This is a scale that measures the truth."

Aknadin: (A harsh, cold smile crossing his weathered face) A Yami no Game. The classic trial of the feather. Let us see how a modern man of coins fares when his hidden sins are cast onto the scales of weight.

Kanekura (On Screen): (Sweating profusely, backing away) "A scale that measures the truth? Are you saying this will measure my sin?"

Shadi (On Screen): "I will ask you a few questions. If you do not tell the truth, weight will be added to the other side. That is the weight of your sin. If that side touches the ground, a punishment game awaits."

Mana: (Clutching her staff closer) A punishment game? Shadi looked so sad while crying before the mummy, but now his face is terrifying!

Mahad: Quiet, Mana. Watch the alignment of the feather.

Shadi (On Screen): "A girl falls into a deep well. You are the only one who saw it happen. But at your feet is a gold ring that the girl dropped. So, what will you do?"

Kanekura (On Screen): (Yelling desperately) "I'll save the girl! I would save her!" (Instantly, an invisible weight drops, causing the scale to slam violently to one side.) "Impossible! I wasn't lying!"

Priest Set: (Laughs mockingly, his voice echoing in the afterlife) A transparent, pathetic lie! A man who steals from the dead for profit would always grab the gold ring and leave a dying child to drown. The scale reads the composition of the soul, not the falsehoods of the tongue!

Karim: Look at how he panics. He believes it to be a magician's trick. These modern humans have entirely forgotten the ancient laws of spiritual retribution.

Act IV: The Den of Demons

(The pressure in the mirror intensifies. Kanekura is on his knees, weeping and gasping as the heavy side of the scale inches ever closer to touching the wooden table.)

Shadi (On Screen): "So, the final question. You have violated god's land. You exchange shining treasures for money. Do you do it for personal profit?"

Kanekura (On Screen): (Screaming in sheer terror, pulling out his wallet) "St-stop it! If you want money, I'll pay!"

Kisara: (Speaking softly, her gentle blue eyes reflecting the mirror's cold light) He tries to offer paper and gold to buy his way out of a spiritual judgment… He truly cannot comprehend that his worldly wealth means nothing to the scales of cosmic truth.

Shada: His mind is an empty void, completely devoid of truth. My future counterpart is about to deliver his final sentence.

Shadi (On Screen): "There is no truth in the room of your heart. All that exists is greed. And thus you shall face judgement! The room of your mind is full of money and greed. That becomes the den of demons. You were destroyed by those demons."

(Inside the mirror, Kanekura shrieks in agony as horrifying phantasms of the monster Amemid swarm his vision, tearing his sanity apart from the inside out. He collapses into a catatonic heap. Shadi steps past him, calmly picking up the Millennium Puzzle from the desk.)

Mana: (Shielding her eyes behind Mahad’s sleeve) Ah! The illusionary monsters completely devoured his mind! That was terrifying!

Shimon Muran: The judgment is absolute. A mind constructed entirely out of greed and malice will always collapse under the weight of its own internal demons when exposed to the light of Ma'at.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Turning to Shada) Shada, your future self has conducted himself with the utmost honor. He protects our history and safeguards the relics from those who would exploit them.

Shada: (Bows very deeply to Aknamkanon) Thank you, your Highness. Though our own fates are currently suspended in this afterlife while our Pharaoh remains sealed away, it brings peace to my spirit to see that the justice of Egypt still walks the earth through his lineage.

Priest Set: (Staring fiercely as the mirror shifts to show the young Yugi walking back toward the museum entrance to retrieve his puzzle) Do not praise him just yet. Shadi has confiscated the Puzzle, but the Pharaoh’s mortal vessel is returning. A direct confrontation between our ancient executioner and the vessel of our sealed king is about to begin.

(The mirror fades into a deep, silent twilight, leaving the ancient Egyptian spirits to watch the unfolding shadows of a world they are destined to inherit.)

Chapter 5: The Ordeal of the Heart

Chapter Text

Act I: The Target of the Embers

(The mirror flares to life. Professor Yoshimori stands alone in his dimly lit office, his face pale as he tries to convince himself that curses do not exist. Suddenly, Shadi steps smoothly from the dark, lifting a golden artifact shaped like an ankh.)

Shadi (On Screen): "I come from a 3000-year line of grave keepers. I am Anubis' disciple. You are the other sinner who violated god's domain... Now under Anubis' eye you will be judged."

(Yoshimori screams in terror as Shadi’s shadow stretches across the wall. The scene cuts to a modern city street later that evening where Sugoroku Mutou, Jounouchi, Honda, and Miho gather frantically around an ambulance.)

Mana: (Gasps, watching the mirror closely) Master Mahad, look! The weeping guardian from before... his face hasn't changed at all, but he doesn't look sad anymore. He looks ruthless!

Shada: (Staring at his own facial reflection in the glass) He has declared himself a disciple of Anubis. Though we have not yet walked the earth as mortal men in that era, his duty mirrors the one I hold to my very soul. He punishes the transgressors who breached the Valley of the Kings.

Priest Set: (Snorting with cold disdain) Yet he targets mere scholars and old men. If he is a true executioner of Ma'at, why does he delay his blade?

Isis: (Tracing her fingers over her golden necklace) Because his true quarry is not the professor. Look into the shadows of the street. He is watching the young boy, Yugi.

Shadi (On Screen): (Muttering from a high roof as the teenagers walk away) "Yuugi. After I complete my judgements in this country... I will finish matters with you."

Aknadin: The guardian's pride was wounded. The boy’s inner spirit thwarted his judgment in the previous hour. He seeks to draw out the hidden Pharaoh by any means necessary.

Act II: The Defiled Sanctuary

(The scene shifts to the next morning at Domino High School. Shadi corners a young girl named Anzu in an empty hallway. He holds up the Millennium Ankh, pressing it toward her forehead.)

Shadi (On Screen): "This Millennium Ankh... it is the key to opening the door to your mind room. Show me the inside of your mind."

(The screen morphs into a surreal mental landscape. Anzu's mind room is a pristine dance studio entirely lined with mirrors, reflecting her absolute confidence and dreams. Shadi walks through it coldly, planting a seed of dark compliance to turn her into his literal puppet.)

Mahad: (His fists clenching, eyes flashing with anger) To breach the sanctuary of an innocent mortal's mind room is a grave offense! He violates her spirit simply to build a trap!

Karim: He is desperate. He uses the Millennium Ankh to bypass the boy's outer shell. Look at how he commands the girl to act as his empty vessel.

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his beard, his brow furrowed) He does not realize the magnitude of the soul he is attempting to provoke. He seeks a confrontation with a king, yet he treats the living as mere playthings for his design.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Sighing softly) The modern era has fractured the ancient teachings. He acts out of a distorted sense of preservation. Let us see what happens when the boy realizes his companion has been compromised.

Act III: The Shattering Ordeal

(The mirror erupts into chaos. Anzu, completely possessed, lures Yugi to the high school rooftop. She stands precariously on a wooden plank suspended over the edge of the building. Yugi rushes up the stairs, his eyes wide with fear, only for the air to crackle as his body shifts, his posture straightening into the majestic demeanor of the hidden Pharaoh. Shadi stands across from him, gesturing to giant stone statues that have materialized around them.)

Shadi (On Screen): "So we finally meet, the other Yuugi... Those statues reflect your heart. When you show weakness in your heart, statues will break, one after another."

Mana: (Clutching Mahad's arm) Look at the Pharaoh! He finally emerged! His eyes are so fierce when he stands on that rooftop!

Priest Set: (Leaning forward, an intense glint in his eyes) The guardian challenges him to a trial of spiritual fortitude. A game where the slightest tremor of doubt will shatter the stone and drop the girl to her demise. This Shadi possesses a brutal mind.

Shada: He claims his lineage has waited three thousand years for the Puzzle to be solved. He believes he is testing whether the boy is truly worthy of holding the relic, or if his heart is too fragile to sustain its weight.

Kisara: (Speaking softly, her eyes wide with concern) But the boy's heart is filled with terror for his friend. The guardian is exploiting that love as a weakness. Look, the first statue is already beginning to crack.

Act IV: The Shadows of Concentration

(The final portion of the mirror darkens as Shadi manifests a massive, ancient stone tablet between them, split into nine stone slates. Below them, a roaring illusionary beast—the Amemit—snarls, waiting to devour anyone who fails.)

Shadi (On Screen): "To escape that Amemit you have to clear the ordeal. This game is... the Yami Concentration. Behind those slates are pairs of the same picture. But the middle one is the only one left over."

Aknadin: (A grim smile on his face) A game of memory and absolute focus under the threat of death. One incorrect choice, and the shockwave will shatter the remaining pillars of the heart.

Mahad: The Pharaoh's soul must remain perfectly still. He cannot allow the modern world's distractions or the fear of losing the girl to cloud his vision.

Shada: (Watching his future counterpart steady the stone scales) He looks so much like me, yet he carries a darkness I hope to never possess. He relies entirely on terror to find his answers.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: The true test of a king is not whether his heart is free of fear, Set. It is whether he can maintain the balance of Ma'at when the entire world threatens to crumble beneath his feet.

Priest Set: (Staring fixedly as the Pharaoh on screen reaches out his hand to flip the first stone slate) Then let us see if my sovereign's shadow has the strength to match his crown. Flip the stone, Pharaoh. Let us see your answer.

(The mirror pulses with dark, ancient magic as the first slate begins to turn, leaving the spirits of the past suspended in breathless anticipation.)

Act V: The Shadow Concentration

(The mirror shows the nine stone slates hovering over the dark abyss where the illusionary monster, Amemit, snaps its jaws. The Pharaoh stands completely unmoving, his crimson cape catching the spectral rooftop wind.)

Shadi (On Screen): "Behind those slates are pairs of the same picture. But the middle one is the only one left over. If you flip that slate... you instantly lose."

Shimon Muran: (Nodding slowly, his sharp eyes evaluating the layout) A cruel addition to the traditional trial. It is not enough to simply match the hidden symbols; he must actively identify and avoid the outlier. The trigger of immediate destruction.

Mana: (Biting her fingernails in absolute suspense) Look at the symbols appearing as the Pharaoh flips the first two! They’re ancient hieroglyphics of our old gods!

Mahad: (Stepping up beside her, his spiritual energy humming) He has made his first match perfectly. His concentration is a flawless wall. He remembers the alignment of the spiritual tablets as if he carved them himself.

Shadi (On Screen): (Staring in disbelief as the Pharaoh effortlessly matches pair after pair without a single error) "Impossible... Not one mistake? To possess such absolute clarity while the girl stands on the precipice..."

Priest Set: (A sharp, satisfied smirk breaking across his regal face) Did this modern grave keeper truly think an unrefined mind could play host to the Puzzle? Our sovereign's soul was forged in the fires of tactical warfare and divine judgment. A simple game of matching tablets is child's play to his focus!

Karim: Watch the scales. Because the Pharaoh's heart remains steady and unwavering, the pressure is shifting entirely.

Act VI: The Cracking of Judgment

(Inside the mirror, the Pharaoh completes the final match, leaving only the single, forbidden middle slate untouched on the stone platform. Shadi staggers back, gasping as a tremendous spiritual shockwave ripples across the rooftop. With a loud, echoing CRACK, the massive stone statue representing Shadi’s own heart begins to splinter from base to apex.)

Shadi (On Screen): (Clutching his chest as his stone monument fractures) "My statue... it's breaking! My own heart... it harbor's weakness?!"

Aknadin: (Narrowing his eyes, his voice dripping with cold analysis) The guardian's arrogance has become his undoing. He entered this contest fully believing he was the ultimate arbiter of truth, completely immune to error. When the Pharaoh proved to be his spiritual superior, doubt pierced the guardian's soul, shattering his internal monument.

Shada: (Staring deeply at the reflection of his future counterpart, a look of profound realization crossing his features) He looks precisely like me, yet he forgot the most fundamental law of the items. The Millennium relics do not grant us the right to be gods. They are tools to serve the balance. The moment he used an innocent girl to satisfy his own burning pride, his heart became corrupt and weighted.

Isis: Look at the golden rope. The breakdown of Shadi’s statue has loosened the mechanism.

(On screen, the Millennium Ankh slides smoothly down the guiding rope, straight into the hand of the possessed girl, Anzu. The moment her fingers brush the golden metal, the purple haze vanishes from her eyes, and she blinks in utter confusion, stepping safely off the wooden plank and back onto the solid concrete roof.)

Mana: (Jumping up and down, clapping her hands joyfully) She’s safe! The spell broke the instant she touched the Ankh! The Pharaoh won!

Act VII: The Receding Embers

(The illusionary monsters and ancient stone structures dissolve into the morning air, leaving only Shadi and the Pharaoh standing opposite each other on the mundane high school roof. Shadi looks down at his trembling hands, the golden Ankh returning to his side as he bows his head in genuine submission.)

Shadi (On Screen): "Peeping into the mind rooms of people isn't a good hobby... This game... I suppose I've lost? No... perhaps this is only the beginning. The loss has been smoldering within me, but now I see the truth of the Puzzle's choice."

Kisara: (Her gentle blue eyes softening as she watches the tension leave the rooftop) He recognizes his defeat with honor. The darkness of his design has been cleared away by the light of the Pharaoh's resolve.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping to the center of the afterlife court, his royal presence radiating peace) He was a guardian who lost his way in the long twilight of the centuries, searching for a sign. By testing my son, he has inadvertently confirmed that the true king has finally awakened to protect the mortal world.

Shada: (Bowing deeply to the empty space where Atem would sit if he weren't sealed) My lineage in that future era will no longer act as an enemy. He has looked into the soul of the Pharaoh and found it worthy. He will guard the secrets of our past until the day His Majesty can finally cross over to join us here.

Priest Set: (Turning away from the mirror as the image of the high school roof slowly fades into misty twilight) The guardian's embers have been cleared, but the world below grows more turbulent by the hour. We must continue to watch. The true trials of our sealed Pharaoh have only just begun.

(The towering mirror dims to a deep, reflective black, leaving the ancient Egyptian spirits to stand in silent vigil within the eternal kingdom, awaiting the next ripple of time.)

Chapter 6: The Shadows of the Mansion of Dolls

Chapter Text

As the mirror ripples, it displays the remnants of Kaiba Seto’s bitter defeat. The scene fractures, shifting to a bizarre old mansion filled with lifeless, glass-eyed porcelain dolls.

Act I: The Decree of the Four Kings

(The mirror shows a dark, high-tech command room where Kaiba Seto stands with clenched fists, his eyes burning with intense malice. On the screens behind him, the phrase "Game Shitennou" flares in digital red.)

Kaiba (On Screen): "Damn Yuugi... I will drive you to your knees with loss! Game Shitennou! The time for you to show your powers has come. Mutou Yuugi... Defeat him!"

Priest Set: (A cold, cynical laugh echoing through the halls of the afterlife) Look at him. My future incarnation acts like a wounded animal, throwing his wealth and lackeys into a frantic scramble simply because his pride was broken by the Pharaoh. He relies on a group he calls 'Four Kings'.

Aknadin: He cannot comprehend how a mere artifact or a piece of paper could hold a soul. He called the Blue-Eyes White Dragon a simple card, yet it chose self-destruction rather than attacking the grandfather's heart. His blindness is his greatest curse.

Isis: (Tracing the golden edge of her necklace) He is desperate to expose the Pharaoh's other face. And to do so, he has summoned an eccentric foreigner from across the sea—a man who plays with dolls as if they are his family.

(The mirror pans over to a sunny, opulent garden where a refined man in aristocracy garb sits alone at a table draped in lace, pouring tea for a beautifully dressed porcelain doll.)

Sheldan (On Screen): "Everyone, are you enjoying yourselves? I, Sheldan, am delighted that the weather is fine for our tea party... Please take your time and enjoy yourselves. Okay, Fiona."

Mana: (Shivering, hiding behind Mahad’s shoulder) Master Mahad... that man is talking to a toy! He calls it 'Fiona' and offers it biscuits! The living world has some truly terrifying people.

Mahad: Do not look only at his eccentricities, Mana. Look at the energy radiating from the doll. It is a vessel. He binds his focus and his tactical mind into those lifeless figures. He is a dangerous opponent for the young vessel, Yugi.

Act II: The Deceptive Trial

(The scene shifts to Domino High School's infirmary. The school bell rings, and the young, unsuspecting Yugi enters the room, finding Baron Didory Sheldan disguised as a medical teacher. A mat layout for a card game is spread across a table between them.)

Sheldan (On Screen): "I heard the rumors, Yuugi-kun... Let me see your skill, okay? First, let's begin with your turn. 2000 life points. And you have 5 cards in hand."

Shimon Muran: The trap is sprung. The boy thinks he is merely indulging a teacher in a harmless game, entirely unaware that this man is Kaiba's first assassin.

Karim: Watch how the boy plays. He puts down RockGan on a Wasteland field, utilizing a basic fifty-percent terrain bonus. He plays with the simple, innocent mind of a child.

Sheldan (On Screen): (Scoffing as he plays his cards) "What a boring card to fight with... Then I'll start with the equally powered Ghost... I attack with Chimera on the Forest field... Chimera's flame could burn down everything, changing forests into wastelands!"

Shada: The foreigner understands the hidden combinations of the game. He manipulates the fields, shifting the terrain from a forest into a wasteland to increase his own beast's power and crush the boy's Dark Mammoth.

Kisara: (Her voice soft but clear as she watches the screen) But look at how the teacher wins the final round. He summons Aphrodite, the goddess born of the sea, and pairs her with a Tsunami card to wash away the boy's Black Scorpion. He does not just play to win; he plays to mock.

Sheldan (On Screen): (Smiling slyly as he snatches a rare card from Yugi's deck) "As a reward for my victory... I will take this card. Neon Knight... Challenge me again. If I lose, then I'll return it."

Priest Set: (Tsking in irritation) A petty theft to force a rematch. He holds the boy's prized possession hostage to lure him directly into Kaiba's designated slaughterhouse.

Act III: The Mansion of Whispers

(The sun sets over the city, casting long, bloody shadows across the alleyways. Yugi is tricked by a disguised thug into entering the back door of a creepy, abandoned building—the Mansion of Dolls. The heavy iron doors slam shut behind him, locking him inside. From the darkness, Baron Sheldan emerges, holding the stolen Neon Knight card.)

Sheldan (On Screen): "Yuugi-kun, let's continue our game. You want your Neon Knight card back right? Welcome to the Mansion of Dolls... Here, Kaiba-sama has commanded me to bring you to your knees!"

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (His royal aura flaring with profound protective instinct) The darkness in that house is thick. It is an artificial arena designed to break a child's spirit through isolation and terror.

Mana: (Clasping her hands together) The small Yugi is trembling! He's trapped in the dark with all those horrible, staring dolls! Oh, please... the other Yugi has to wake up!

Mahad: (Fixing his eyes on the golden Millennium Puzzle hanging from Yugi's neck) Fear not, Mana. The puzzle is already reacting to the hostility in the room. The domain of a Shadow Game cannot be initiated without invoking the proper judgment.

(Suddenly, a brilliant, golden eye of Anubis flashes upon Yugi's forehead. The boy's stature changes instantly; his timid eyes sharpen into a fierce, commanding crimson glare, and his voice drops into the booming, ancient resonance of a true ruler.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Mansion of Dolls? Will you show me a shadow game? Baron Didory Sheldan... let us see if your dolls can withstand the weight of darkness!"

Priest Set: (A fierce, competitive grin spreading across his face as he steps closer to the afterlife mirror) Yes! The true King takes the stage. Let the first of Kaiba's 'Four Kings' discover what happens when you challenge the master of the shadows.

Isis: The game has truly begun. Let us see if this foreigner's porcelain toys can survive the judgment of Ma'at.

(The crystal mirror pulses with dark, ancient energy as the spectral battlefield inside the mansion illuminates, leaving the ancient spirits of Egypt locked in intense anticipation.)

Act IV: The Field of Whispers

(The interior of the Mansion of Dolls grows blindingly cold. Baron Sheldan stands behind an ornate table, flanked by rows of high-standing, lifeless glass-eyed dolls that seem to track the Pharaoh's movements. The shadowy card mat glows with an eerie purple luminescence.)

Sheldan (On Screen): "Hurry and pull your card. Begin the game! I will use your card first... Neon Knight!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Drawing his opening hand with a swift, snapping motion that cuts through the stagnant air) "You have laid your trap well, foreigner. But the darkness inside this house belongs to me. My turn!"

Mana: (Peering closely into the afterlife mirror, her breath catching) Look at how the candles flicker! Every time the foreigner speaks, the spirits tied to those porcelain toys are whispering to him!

Mahad: He has spent a lifetime treating those dolls as living confidants. In doing so, he has inadvertently anchored a fragment of his own spiritual energy into them. It is a primitive form of a vessel contract, yet highly effective.

Priest Set: (Crossing his arms, his eyes scanning the digital layouts flashing within the glass) My future self sent him to test the limits of our sovereign. He believes a specialized master of terrain and psychology can dismantle the Pharaoh's confidence. How remarkably foolish.

Act V: The Trap of Aphrodite

(On screen, the battle reaches a fever pitch. Baron Sheldan manipulates the digital battlefield, utilizing the exact terrain advantages he used to conquer the timid Yugi earlier in the infirmary.)

Sheldan (On Screen): "Do you recognize this layout, unbeatable master? I call upon Aphrodite once more! And with the Wasteland field transformed by my Tsunami, she is unstoppable!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (A calm, terrifying smile gracing his features as his crimson eyes pierce through the darkness) "A tactical combo relies on the element of surprise, Baron. A reused strategy is nothing more than an open book to a true duelist."

Shimon Muran: (Chuckling softly into his long white beard) The foreigner forgot the most basic rule of military strategy. Never show your complete arsenal to an opponent before the true campaign begins. The child may have been blind to the trap, but the King has already calculated its trajectory.

Shada: Look at the card the Pharaoh is drawing. It isn't a beast or a simple warrior. It is a direct counter to the fluid nature of the sea.

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "I activate the spell card, Breath of Light! Your Tsunami evaporates into nothingness, and without the sea, your beautiful goddess is stranded upon a dry, cracking desert floor!"

Sheldan (On Screen): (Staggering backward, his face losing all color as his life points drop catastrophically) "What?! My perfect combo... dismantled in a single movement?!"

Act VI: The Shattered Porcelain

(With a booming command, the Pharaoh calls forth his final attacker, shattering Sheldan’s defenses and reducing his life points to zero. A massive, invisible shockwave of ancient energy rolls across the Mansion of Dolls. Around the room, the glass eyes of the porcelain figures begin to crack one by one.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Mind Crush! Let the false family you have built out of vanity and pride be cleared away by the light of Ma'at!"

Sheldan (On Screen): (Falling to his knees, clutching his head as the illusionary shadows dissipate) "Fiona... my dolls... the voices... they've gone silent..."

Isis: The judgment is complete. The distortion within the foreigner's heart has been broken, freeing him from the absolute obsession that Kaiba sought to exploit.

Kisara: (Her blue eyes shining with a gentle, reflective light) He wanted to see our world, but his heart was too fragile to sustain the purity of the shadows. The Pharaoh did not destroy him; he simply woke him from a very long, very dark dream.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping back toward his throne as the afterlife mirror begins to dim once more) Kaiba Seto's 'Four Kings' have begun their march, yet they fall like wheat before the sickle. My son’s vessel grows stronger with every trial.

Priest Set: (Staring intensely at the fading digital silhouette of his reincarnation, his fists clenching tightly) One king down, three remain. Keep watching the glass. If my future self truly wishes to challenge the throne, he will have to bring an opponent capable of standing against the true wrath of Egypt.

(The crystal mirror settles into a quiet, deep blue mist, leaving the ancient spirits in silent contemplation of the trials yet to come.)

Chapter 7: The Myth of the Unbeatable Luck

Chapter Text

Act I: The Divine Gamble

(The afterlife mirror illuminates a vibrant, neon-lit studio. An announcer with a booming voice gestures wildly toward a smug, blond teenager holding a trophy.)

Announcer (On Screen): "And of course he's facing this person. After 7 consecutive victories, the defending champion! A modern legend! A man loved by the goddess of luck! Fuwa Ryuichi!"

Fuwa Ryuichi (On Screen): (Grinning arrogantly at the camera) "Well, only a god or an alien can beat me. Because a normal human sure can't do it."

Priest Set: (A sharp snort of absolute disdain cutting through the sacred court) A god or an alien? This mortal speaks of luck as if he has stolen the scales of Ma'at herself. He plays with an electric toy wheel and believes himself an immortal king.

Aknadin: Do not dismiss him too quickly, Set. Look closer at the thread of his fate. To achieve seven consecutive victories without a single failure means a force is tilting the balance in his favor.

Isis: (Staring deeply into her golden artifact) He is the second of the Game Shitennou—the Four Kings unleashed by Kaiba Seto. Kaiba has commanded him to infiltrate Domino High School to corner our sealed Pharaoh.

Mana: (Clutching her magical staff, her eyes wide) Look! He just transferred into the small Yugi’s class! And he’s already making the teacher flip a coin just to choose his seat!

Shimon Muran: (Shaking his head slowly) A dangerous arrogance. He treats every mundane interaction as a gamble because he knows he cannot lose. He even predicted the exact layout of a sudden test without studying a single line.

Act II: The Seduction of Fate

(The mirror shifts to a busy street after school. Fuwa Ryuichi is surrounded by adoring classmates, including Miho. Jounouchi stands nearby, scowling with an overwhelming mix of envy and anger.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Gritting his teeth, holding application forms) "With money I can run away! Goodbye to my pathetic life! I will get big luck and repay my dad's debt!"

Karim: (Crossing his massive arms, his expression softening with pity) The blonde youth, Jounouchi, is drowning in the desperation of his father's debts. To a soul carrying such a heavy burden, the champion’s 'unbeatable luck' looks like a divine oasis.

Shada: Watch as they enter a lottery game with prize tickets. The champion challenges Yugi to a duel of draws. The loser must do whatever the winner commands.

(On screen, Yugi draws a single consolation tissue, while Fuwa smoothly pulls the grand prize—a luxury trip to Italy. Jounouchi drops to his knees, begging the arrogant champion to take him as a student.)

Mana: (Pouting heavily) Oh, Jounouchi! Have some pride! You are a warrior of the Pharaoh's circle! You shouldn't bow to a cheat!

Kisara: (Her soft blue eyes fixed on the champion’s departure) He is not a simple cheat, Mana. His aura lacks the malice of a thief, but it is bloated with a terrible emptiness. He believes his life only exists for grand, fated moments. He ignores the suffering of the weak around him.

Act III: The Second Assassin

(The scene darkens heavily. A black limousine arrives, and Fuwa Ryuichi is escorted deep into Kaiba Corporation's subterranean headquarters. Kaiba Seto sits in shadows, his eyes reflecting the glow of several monitors.)

Kaiba (On Screen): "Welcome, my second Shitennou, Fuwa Ryuichi. Following my orders, you transferred to Domino High School... but Mutou Yugi has another face. You still do not know his true form."

Fuwa Ryuichi (On Screen): (Tossing a heavy model gun into the air, spinning it carelessly) "As you know, I possess a rare amount of luck. I bet if this model gun hits, it would hurt... I'm bored with normal opponents. I want a life that burns!"

Priest Set: (His spectral energy flaring, a dangerous smile touching his lips) Look at my future self, playing the puppet master from his digital throne. He seeks to use this boy's freakish fortune to force the Pharaoh's soul into the light.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping forward, his majestic voice echoing with absolute authority) The stage is set for a true Shadow Game. When a mortal claims that 'only a god' can defeat him, the universe inevitably provides a god to answer the challenge.

Mahad: The Millennium Puzzle is already humming within the kid's chest. The next time this 'Champion of Luck' tries to force a promise, he will not be facing the gentle child. He will be facing the absolute judgment of the king.

(The crystal mirror pulses with a deep, ominous violet light as the image of the high school roof and a sinister roulette wheel begins to form, signaling the arrival of the true game.)

Act IV: The Board of Destiny

(The mirror surges with violent purple sparks. On the high school roof, Fuwa Ryuichi slams down a massive, custom-built electronic layout. A mechanical arm drops a thick steel marble onto a sweeping roulette track.)

Fuwa Ryuichi (On Screen): "Since you've taken the bait, let's play, transfer student! This is my special version of the board: the Death Roulette! The board is divided into numbers, and whatever number the ball lands on, that person must draw a card of that specific numerical damage value!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Standing entirely steady, his arms crossed over his chest, his eyes burning like hot rubies) "A game where fate is determined by a spinning wheel. You call it luck, but in the realm of a Shadow Game, there is no such thing as chance. There is only the weight of one's sins."

Mana: (Clutching Mahad's sleeve, stamping her foot) Cassie! Master Mahad, look at that device! It spins so fast nobody could ever predict where the sphere will fall! How can the Pharaoh challenge someone whose very birthright is to be lucky?

Mahad: Luck is nothing more than a superficial wind, Mana. It blows favorably for a time to deceive the arrogant into believing they are masters of their own destiny. But a true King does not blow with the wind—he commands the atmosphere.

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his long beard, eyes narrowed) This Fuwa has spent his entire existence relying on the balance tilting in his favor. He has never had to struggle, never had to adapt, and never had to think. He is a child playing with fire.

Act V: The Turning Wheel

(Inside the mirror, the roulette spins violently. Fuwa Ryuichi laughs maniacally as the ball drops precisely into his designated victory slot for three consecutive turns, forcing the Pharaoh to sustain theoretical spiritual damage.)

Fuwa Ryuichi (On Screen): "See?! I told you! The goddess of luck is sleeping in my bed tonight! You can't beat me! It's mathematically impossible!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (His expression remains a flawless mask of absolute authority, not a single drop of sweat on his face) "You boast of your consecutive victories, yet you fail to see the pattern of your own doom. The wheel does not love you, Fuwa. It is merely inflating your ego so your fall will be absolute."

Priest Set: (A sharp, appreciative grunt echoing from his chest) He isn't even flinching. The Pharaoh is letting the boy exhaust his fortune. Fortune is a finite resource for a mortal; it relies on the cosmic alignment of Ma'at. When you take too much without offering sacrifice, the scales demand payment.

Karim: Set is correct. Look at the balance lines flowing within the glass mirror. The golden energy around Fuwa is starting to thin. He has drawn too heavily from the reservoir of chance.

Isis: (Tracing her hand over her golden artifact) The final turn is approaching. The Pharaoh is about to manipulate the very shadow of the wheel itself.

Act VI: The Final Orbit

(The Pharaoh steps forward, his crimson cape billowing. With a snapping gesture, he unleashes a wave of dense, black magical energy directly into the spinning track of the roulette.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "You claimed that only a god or an alien could defeat you, Fuwa. Then let the old gods of Egypt answer your prayer! The ball will not land on your number. It will find the outlier—the slot of absolute penalty!"

Fuwa Ryuichi (On Screen): (His smile completely vanishing as the steel ball defies physics, skidding across the tracks and dropping directly into the zero-penalty slot) "No... No! That's impossible! The magnet... the probability... it's a hundred to one against!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Mind Crush! Let the illusion of your unbeatable fortune be shattered into dust!"

(A blinding beam of golden light erupts from the Millennium Puzzle, striking Fuwa directly in the chest. He collapses to the roof tiles, his eyes wide and vacant as his overinflated ego is systematically dismantled by the ancient magic.)

Aknadin: (A cold, satisfied smile crossing his aged features) The sequence is broken. He will no longer walk through the mortal world believing he is an untouchable deity. He has been brought down to the dirt where all mortal men must eventually learn humility.

Kisara: (Speaking softly, her eyes filled with gentle wisdom) He wanted his life to burn with excitement, but he was playing with a flame that was far too hot for his soul to handle. The Pharaoh has granted him a true blessing—the chance to live as a normal human, free from the burden of artificial destiny.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping back toward his throne as the crystal mirror begins to settle into a peaceful, quiet mist) The second of Kaiba's 'Four Kings' has been brought to justice. My son's spirit remains an unyielding wall against the corruption of the modern era.

Priest Set: (Staring fiercely at the dark screen, his arms crossing once more) Two kings remain in the shadows. Let Kaiba send the rest of his court. The throne of Egypt will never yield to a collection of wealthy pretenders.

(The afterlife mirror grows completely dark, leaving the ancient spirits to stand in solemn alignment, awaiting the next shift in the tides of time.)

Chapter 8: The Shadow of the Model’s Stage

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

As the mirror ripples, it cuts past Kaiba's previous defeated underlings and shifts to a glaring, modern fashion stage under blinding camera flashes. A young woman with sharp, beautiful features smiles confidently down a runway.

Act I: The Trap of the Third King

(The afterlife mirror illuminates a high-end modeling agency office where a glamorous young woman, Aileen Rao, is surrounded by agents. On a private monitor hidden in her dressing room, Kaiba Seto’s voice echoes darkly.)

Kaiba (On Screen): "The third of my Game Shitennou... Aileen Rao. Your target is Mutou Yuugi. Do not rely on simple cards or petty parlor tricks. Use the absolute vanity of the flesh to corner him."

Aileen Rao (On Screen): (Laughing softly as she touches her flawless reflection in a mirror) "Do not worry, Kaiba-sama. Men are incredibly simple creatures. They will throw their entire lives away for a single glance from a beautiful face. This Yuugi will be no different."

Priest Set: (A sharp snort of absolute disgust echoing through the sacred court) This girl calls herself a king? She treats the beauty of the physical form as a weapon of domination. My future self has truly sunk to pathetic depths, relying on a vanity-driven model to wage his war against the Pharaoh.

Aknadin: Do not misjudge the power of desire, Set. Since the dawn of time, kingdoms have fallen not to swords, but to the deceptive promises of a beautiful face. She is the third assassin, and she knows exactly how to exploit the weaknesses of the young companions.

Isis: (Staring deeply into her golden artifact) She is not targeting Yugi directly at first. Look down at the streets. She has found the boy Jounouchi, whose heart is easily swayed by a pretty visage.

Mana: (Pouting heavily, crossing her arms) Oh, Jounouchi! He is practically drooling over a poster of her! He’s supposed to be a loyal protector, and he’s completely distracted by a piece of paper!

Mahad: The girl is utilizing her status to lure them into an exclusive, private venue. A place where the rules of the ordinary world do not apply and where a Shadow Game can be executed without interference.

Act II: The Seduction of the Court

(The scene shifts to a lavish, private modeling studio. Jounouchi, Honda, and Yugi are brought inside under the pretense of an exclusive meeting. Aileen Rao sits upon a velvet couch, a custom-designed card matrix laid out across a glass table before her.)

Aileen Rao (On Screen): "Welcome, boys... Yuugi-kun, I've heard so much about your gaming skills from Kaiba-sama. Let's play a simple game of chance, shall we? If you lose, you must become my personal servants forever."

Jounouchi (On Screen): (His eyes shaped like hearts, stepping forward eagerly) "Servants?! For a beautiful girl like you? I'll play! I'll play right now!"

Shimon Muran: (Shaking his head in deep disappointment) The blonde youth walks straight into the viper's nest. He thinks it is a game of courtship, entirely blind to the venom hidden beneath her smile.

Karim: Watch the first round. She uses a customized layout called the Gorgon's Eye. Any card Jounouchi plays is instantly frozen in place, turning his warriors into stone before they can even initiate an strike.

Shada: She completely dismantles him within three movements. And now, she holds his free will hostage to force the true target onto the field.

Aileen Rao (On Screen): (Her smile turning incredibly cold and sharp as she points a long finger at Yugi) "Your friend belongs to me now, Yuugi-kun. If you want his soul back, you will sit across from me and play the real game."

Act III: The Mirror of Truth

(The small Yugi trembles as Jounouchi falls into a vacant, glassy-eyed trance under Aileen’s spell. Suddenly, the Millennium Puzzle flares with a brilliant, blinding golden light. The Eye of Wadjat flashes upon the boy's forehead, and his stature shifts instantly into the commanding, imperial presence of the Pharaoh.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "You speak of beauty and vanity as if they are absolute laws, woman. But a heart that uses its gifts to enslave others is nothing more than a rot hid behind a mask. Let us play."

Mana: (Cheering loudly, jumping up and down) Yes! The Pharaoh is here! Show that arrogant model what true royalty looks like!

Priest Set: (An intense, competitive glint in his eyes as he steps closer to the glass) She tries to use her Gorgon strategy against the King. She believes the same trick that paralyzed a common peasant will work against the master of the shadows.

Kisara: (Speaking softly, her gentle blue eyes reflecting the purple smoke rising from the digital table) But the Pharaoh’s heart cannot be seduced by illusions of the flesh. He sees the game for exactly what it is—a battle of raw spiritual authority.

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "I activate the spell Mirror of Truth! The gaze of your Gorgon is reflected back upon your own field, turning your beautifully sculpted monsters into lifeless boulders of clay!"

Aileen Rao (On Screen): (Staggering back, her perfect composure completely shattering as her life points collapse) "No! My beautiful strategy... reflected back at me?! This is impossible!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Mind Crush! Let the artificial pedestal of your vanity be shattered into pieces!"

(A column of radiant, purifying golden energy erupts from the Puzzle, systematically dismantling Aileen’s overinflated ego. She falls to the floor, weeping silently as the false illusion of her supreme power vanishes completely.)

Aknadin: Three of Kaiba's kings have been broken. They enter the arena with supreme confidence born of modern wealth and status, yet they vanish like smoke when exposed to the ancient laws of the afterlife.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping back toward his throne as the crystal mirror begins to settle into a quiet twilight mist) My son's vessel has proven once more that the true crown cannot be bought with money or deceived by flesh.

Priest Set: (Staring fiercely into the darkening glass, his arms crossing over his chest) Only one king remains in Kaiba's arsenal. Let my future self send his final champion. The shadow of Egypt will never bow to a kingdom of wealthy pretenders.

(The afterlife mirror grows completely dark, leaving the ancient spirits to stand in solemn, silent alignment, waiting for the final move of the Shitennou.)

Notes:

These two chapters were supposed to be up on Wednesday, but It completely slipped my mind, I'm sorry. I had the house to myself, I have a Summer University class I have until the 31 that I'm working on, and I was trying to finish this Side Story this week, good news I finished it, so I could finally add the chapter count.

Chapter 9: The Final King of Death

Chapter Text

As the mirror ripples, the digital screens of Kaiba Corporation flash intensely. The final, most dangerous member of the Game Shitennou has been summoned to eliminate the Pharaoh's mortal vessel.

Act I: The Ultimate Executioner

(The afterlife mirror illuminates Kaiba Seto's underground command center. The three previously defeated Kings—Sheldan, Fuwa, and Aileen—stand humiliated in the background. In the center stands a towering, muscular man with a brutal, scarred countenance, holding a massive, high-tech handheld crossbow.)

Kaiba (On Screen): "The final Shitennou... Daimon Kogoro. You are my last line of defense against Mutou Yuugi. The others failed because they relied on cards and vanity. You will bring him down with absolute, physical terror."

Daimon Kogoro (On Screen): (Laughs deeply, slamming a heavy capsule into his weapon) "Do not lump me in with those weaklings, Kaiba-sama. My game is not played on a tabletop. I play the Capsule Monster Chess—a game where the monsters are real, and the loser faces an absolute, explosive demise!"

Priest Set: (A dark, satisfied grin crossing his face as his spectral energy hums) Finally! My future self has stopped relying on models and eccentric doll-players. This Daimon understands the true nature of combat. He brings a weapon that mirrors our old DiaDhank, summoning creatures to inflict physical harm.

Aknadin: He calls it Capsule Monster Chess. It is a modern degradation of the sacred shadow duels, yet the intent remains identical—to crush the opponent's spiritual and physical fortitude through raw power.

Isis: Look at where the trap is set. Daimon has hijacked the school’s underground boiler room, transforming the entire basement into a dark, steaming labyrinth. He has taken the boy's grandfather hostage to ensure the Pharaoh has no choice but to descend.

Mana: (Clutching her staff tightly, shivering) The air down there looks so thick and hot! The small Yugi is stepping into the steam all by himself!

Act II: The Arena of Steam

(The scene shifts to the dark, industrial high school basement. Heavy iron pipes hiss with scalding steam as Yugi steps into a wide, illuminated chamber. Daimon Kogoro stands elevated on a metal catwalk, his giant crossbow pointed directly at the boy's chest.)

Daimon Kogoro (On Screen): "Welcome, Mutou Yuugi! Look up! Your precious grandfather is locked in that cage above the central boiler! If you lose this game, the automated valves will release a blast of thousand-degree steam, cooking him alive!"

Mahad: (His fists clenching, his purple robes flaring with protective magic) To threaten an elder who cannot defend himself... this modern warrior possesses no honor! He forces a child into a corner using pure cruelty.

Shada: The boy's spirit is buckling under the pressure. He cannot sustain a tactical battle while his grandfather's life hangs by a literal thread.

(Suddenly, the Millennium Puzzle glows with an absolute, blinding golden aura that pierces through the dense white steam. The Eye of Wadjat burns upon the boy's forehead. His posture straightens, his eyes sharpening into an unyielding, regal crimson glare as the Pharaoh takes command of the flesh.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "You speak of burning steam and absolute demise, Daimon. But you have forgotten that the shadows do not bow to machinery. Let us begin the Capsule Monster Game. If it is a trial of slaughter you desire, I will grant it to you!"

Priest Set: (Laughing aloud, his eyes fixed on the mirror) Yes! Let the executioner see what happens when you threaten the lineage of the sun god!

Act III: The Clashing Pieces

(A massive, holographic grid materializes over the concrete floor. Daimon and the Pharaoh take turns firing small capsules from their respective launchers, which immediately shatter upon the grid to manifest giant, snarling monsters made of dense light and solid shadow.)

Daimon Kogoro (On Screen): "Go, my level-five assassin, Moguratten! Burrow beneath the grid and destroy his defenses from below!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "A predictable advance! I command my armored knight, Tiras, to take the high ground and counter-strike the moment the earth splits!"

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his beard, nodding in deep appreciation) The Pharaoh moves his pieces with the flawless calculation of a general leading a chariot division. He allows the executioner to waste his high-level attributes on aggressive, straight-line attacks, subtly drawing him into an absolute pincer formation.

Karim: Watch the scales of the board. Daimon is becoming frantic. He thought his physical size and the threat of the steam would paralyze the Pharaoh's tactical mind, but our sovereign feels no fear.

Kisara: (Speaking softly, her gentle blue eyes reflecting the flashing lights of the holographic monsters) The executioner's heart is heavy with the desire to please Kaiba Seto. He fights for a master who views him as a disposable pawn. But the Pharaoh fights to protect his family. That is why his monsters do not waver.

Act IV: The Demise of the Shitennou

(The game reaches its climax. The Pharaoh coordinates a brilliant multi-monster assault, completely wiping out Daimon's remaining capsule pieces in a single, sweeping turn. The holographic grid shatters into glittering dust, and the automated mechanisms of the boiler lock down, securing the grandfather's cage safely.)

Daimon Kogoro (On Screen): (Staggering back against the iron railing, his giant crossbow slipping from his fingers) "No... My ultimate strategy... my level-five monsters... wiped out entirely?! I have lost... Kaiba-sama will destroy me!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Mind Crush! Let the terror you used to torment the innocent become the very cage that binds your own mind!"

(A pillar of radiant, terrifying golden energy erupts from the Millennium Puzzle, striking Daimon squarely in the chest. He collapses into the shadows of the catwalk, his mind completely cleared of his violent impulses as his overinflated ego shatters into nothingness.)

Mana: (Jumping up and down, cheering joyfully) All four of them are done! The Four Kings have been completely defeated by the Pharaoh!

Aknadin: (A grim, solemn expression settling over his face) The vanguard has fallen. Kaiba Seto has no more shields to hide behind. He has watched every single one of his champions get dismantled by the power of the relics.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping back toward his eternal throne, his royal presence radiating a deep, protective pride) The vessel has withstood the full brunt of the modern world's malice. But the final confrontation draws near.

Priest Set: (Staring fiercely into the darkening glass of the mirror, his fists clenching as the image of Kaiba Seto appears one last time on the monitor, staring in silent fury at Daimon's defeat) My future self stands alone now. He has seen the power of the shadows, yet his eyes still burn with defiance. Let him step onto the field himself. The ultimate battle between the dragon and the pharaoh is inevitable.

(The afterlife mirror fades into a deep, silent indigo twilight, leaving the ancient spirits of Egypt to stand in breathless anticipation of the true final battle to come.)

Chapter 10: The Digital Colosseum

Chapter Text

Following the absolute defeat of his four executioners, Kaiba Seto has finally forced a direct confrontation, building an ultimate digital arena to expose the Pharaoh's true face.

Act I: The Call to the Tower

(The afterlife mirror ripples, displaying a towering skyscraper with the Kaiba Corporation emblem blazing in neon light. Inside a vast electronic chamber, massive steel doors slide shut behind the young Yugi Mutou, trapping him inside a virtual battle ring.)

Kaiba (On Screen): "You've finally arrived, Yuugi! Your little friends aren't here to shield you this time. My Game Shitennou were mere data-gatherers. This is the true stage—the Virtual Colosseum!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (The Millennium Puzzle blazes with an imperial golden light. The Eye of Wadjat flashes on the boy's forehead as his posture straightens and his eyes sharpen into a piercing crimson glance) "You hide behind wires and artificial glass, Kaiba. You unleashed your underlings to terrorize the innocent, yet you claim to be a king. Let us see if your machines can survive the wrath of a true shadow game!"

Priest Set: (A sharp, thrilled grin crossing his regal face as his spectral energy hums with intense competitiveness) Look at my future self! He has cast aside his proxies. He stands on the parapet himself, holding a mechanical device that projects monsters directly from his thoughts! This is the duel I have been waiting to witness!

Aknadin: (Narrowing his eyes at the glowing holographic generators) He has constructed a temple out of pure calculation. He still refuses to believe in the gods or the soul, yet he attempts to replicate our ancient magic using nothing but silver and electricity.

Isis: (Tracing her hand along her golden necklace) The balance of Ma'at is stretched incredibly thin. Kaiba is betting his entire empire on this single encounter. He has loaded his most powerful spirit into the machine.

Act II: The Descent of the Dragon

(The digital battle matrix ignites. Kaiba slams a heavy, card-shaped slate into his wrist device, and the air inside the skyscraper fractures with simulated lightning.)

Kaiba (On Screen): "I don't care about your ancient tricks or your split personalities! This is the ultimate peak of modern technology! Arise, my pride, my soul... Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

(A magnificent, blindingly white dragon materializes on the grid, its roar shaking the metal foundations of the tower as its sapphire eyes lock onto the Pharaoh.)

Kisara: (Her soft blue eyes widening, her breath catching as she steps right up to the surface of the afterlife mirror) My dragon... Its spirit is trapped inside that tiny piece of painted paper. It obeys his anger, yet its soul is crying out in confusion.

Mahad: (Placing a reassuring hand on Kisara's shoulder) Calm your spirit, Kisara. The dragon is bound by a contract of modern mechanics, but its essence recognizes the bloodline. Look at how it hesitates for a fraction of a second when facing the Pharaoh.

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Your dragon carries immense power, Kaiba, but a beast summoned purely out of malice and an obsession with victory can never achieve true perfection! I summon... the Dark Magician!"

(A towering sorcerer draped in deep purple vestments materializes from a ring of ancient magic, raising his staff to match the dragon's glare.)

Mana: (Jumping up and down, pointing excitedly) Master Mahad, look! It's you! You look so incredibly cool down there in that glowing purple robe! Blast that giant mechanical lizard out of the sky!

Mahad: (Smiling faintly, his eyes fixed on the strategic layout) It is an honor to stand by my Pharaoh’s side, even as a phantom projection in a future era. But Kaiba's dragon possesses raw destructive energy that eclipses basic sorcery. The Pharaoh must play with absolute precision.

Act III: The Limit of Calculation

(The mirror erupts into a spectacular display of fire and light. The Blue-Eyes White Dragon unleashes its Burst Stream of Destruction, obliterating the Pharaoh's defensive monsters and forcing his simulated life points to the absolute brink of elimination.)

Kaiba (On Screen): "Ha! Is this the extent of your so-called ancient power?! Your life points are almost gone! One more strike from my dragon, and your hidden persona will be crushed into oblivion!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Standing completely unfazed amid the digital smoke, a calm, terrifying smile crossing his lips) "You boast of numbers and calculations, Kaiba. You believe the game is decided because your machine displays a higher value. But a true king knows that the heart is an infinite well."

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his white beard, a knowing chuckle echoing through the court) The boy thinks he has won because the layout favors him. He does not see the trap our sovereign has laid right beneath his feet.

Shada: Look at the hidden card the Pharaoh is turning. It isn't a direct attack; it is a distortion of the field.

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "I activate the spell card, Shift! The target of your dragon's destructive beam is redirected back onto your own support systems! Let the electrical power you rely on become your own undoing!"

Kaiba (On Screen): (Staggering back as his command console sparks violently, his digital monitors fracturing) "What?! My calculations... the system didn't predict a total feedback loop! No!"

Act IV: The Shattered Pride

(With a final, catastrophic explosion, the digital matrix collapses, and the Blue-Eyes White Dragon dissolves back into particles of blue light. Kaiba falls to his knees on the concrete floor, staring blankly at his smoking wrist device as the Pharaoh walks calmly toward him.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Mind Crush! Let the absolute obsession that has poisoned your heart be cleared away, Kaiba. Open the eyes of your soul and see the world beyond your digital walls!"

(A brilliant, purifying column of golden magic erupts from the Millennium Puzzle, striking Kaiba squarely in the chest. He slumps forward, his eyes losing their manic, hateful glare as his overinflated ego is systematically dismantled by the ancient relic.)

Aknadin: (A grim, solemn satisfaction in his voice) The battle is decided. The dragon has been put to rest, and the architect of this digital colosseum has been brought to his knees. He will no longer use his vast wealth to hunt the relics of our past.

Karim: The balance of Ma'at has settled. The Pharaoh's vessel has proven that no matter how much the mortal world changes, no matter how many wires and towers they construct, the authority of the true king remains absolute.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping back toward his eternal throne, his royal presence radiating a deep, profound peace) My son has guarded the legacy of Egypt with the utmost honor. The modern kings have fallen, and the path forward is clear.

Priest Set: (Staring intensely into the darkening glass of the mirror, his arms crossing over his chest as he watches his catatonic reincarnation) He was broken today, but his spirit is not entirely dead. I can feel it. When his mind pieces itself back together from that crush, he will rise again, stronger and sharper than before. And when that day comes, the dragon and the pharaoh will clash once more under a brand new sky.

(The afterlife mirror settles into a quiet, deep violet twilight, leaving the ancient Egyptian spirits to stand in silent, proud alignment as the shadows of the future safely recede.)

Chapter 11: The Gates of Death-T

Chapter Text

Act I: The Triple Sovereign and the Defeat of the Elder

(The mirror shows an enclosed digital theater. Yuugi Mutou, Jounouchi, Honda, Anzu, and Miho step out of an elevator into a high-tech observation room. In the center, Yuugi’s grandfather, Sugoroku Mutou, sits slumped over a digital play-mat, gasping for breath as three massive holographic dragons dissolve into static around him.)

Sugoroku (On Screen): (Clutching his chest, his voice trembling) "I lose... Why do you have three Blue-Eyes White Dragons, Kaiba-kun...? That’s... not possible..."

Kaiba Seto (On Screen): (Standing cold and unmoving as digital sparks rain down around him) "It is virtual reality, old man. You simply received too much of a shock from the system. Now... the ultimate card belongs strictly to the apex of power."

Kisara: (Gasps, her hands flying to her chest as her aura flares brightly) Three of them? He has summoned three separate physical forms of the dragon’s soul? No... it is impossible. The beast's spirit is singular, yet his obsession has multiplied its torment across those mechanical cards!

Priest Set: (Staring at his future self with a mixture of dark pride and concern) He defeated an elder with overwhelming force. But look at his eyes—there is no joy in that victory. He has bound the white dragon to his will through pure tyranny, not a bond of light.

Aknadin: He broke the old man's spirit to provoke the Pharaoh. A classic calculated strike, yet highly dangerous.

Sugoroku (On Screen): (Handing a deck of cards to a weeping Yuugi) "Yuugi... take these. My soul is inside these cards... I wanted to save you, but I wasn't able to... Be careful of Kaiba... he is ruthless..."

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Sighing softly, his golden robes shimmering) The elder passes his legacy to the young vessel. Even in that modern era, the power of a true duelist does not reside in the tools of calculation, but in the trust passed from generation to generation.

Act II: The Declaration of Death-T

(The walls of Kaiba Land shake as Mokuba Kaiba appears on the monitor overhead, a cruel sneer on his young face.)

Mokuba (On Screen): "Don't think you can just walk away, Yuugi! If you want your grandfather back, you have to play our ultimate game: Death-T!"

Kaiba Seto (On Screen): "The game tower has various traps on each floor. Start from the bottom and beat each trial to ascend. If you survive, I will be waiting at the top floor to bring you to your knees before the entire world!"

Mana: (Stamping her foot in anger) Death-T?! What a horrible name for a game! And that little brother of his is just as bratty as Priest Set used to be when he argued with Master Mahad!

Mahad: (Calmly examining the architecture of the displayed tower) This is no longer a simple game of tiles or cards, Mana. It is a localized shadow labyrinth constructed out of metal, glass, and steel. Kaiba has designed this place to be a gauntlet of execution for our sovereign.

Isis: (Looking through the Millennium Necklace, though its sights are blurred by the modern age) The five companions are entering a chamber of absolute dark. They believe they are stepping into an amusement park attraction, but the intent behind it is stained with blood.

Act III: The Descent into Death-T One

(The screen turns pitch-black as the heavy steel doors seal shut behind Yuugi and his friends. Suddenly, flashing crimson alarms color the room in blood-red light, and a synthetic computer voice echoes through the darkness.)

Computer Voice (On Screen): "Emergency! Emergency! This space station is under enemy attack. It is being destroyed. Put on the cyber vests and defeat the enemy using laser guns!"

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Grinning as he straps on a heavy neon-lit vest) "A shooting game? Man, shooting games are my extra-special specialty! This'll be a walk in the park!"

Kaiba Seto (On Screen): (His voice cutting through the intercom with a chilling tone) "Do not get careless, Jounouchi. You five are facing three enemies. But these three are not programs. They are mercenary pros from the army—Code Names: Red, Black, and Blue."

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his beard rapidly, his eyes wide) They have brought mercenaries trained in the art of real war into a children's arena? This is madness! The Pharaoh's mortal body is that of a frail child!

Shada: Look at the weapons they wield. Though they are called 'laser guns,' the energy feedback calibrated by Kaiba's technicians will deliver a real, physical shock to the human nervous system upon impact. It is a trial of survival.

Act IV: The Hunter and the Prey

(The heavy gates slide open, revealing a ruined, metallic maze meant to look like a devastated spaceship corridor. From the shadows, the silhouettes of three heavily armed soldiers emerge, their visors glowing menacingly.)

Mercenary Leader (On Screen): "The prey has arrived. Command, we have visual confirmation on the children. Commencing full tactical sweep."

Yuugi (On Screen): (Stepping forward, his hand drifting toward the golden Millennium Puzzle hanging from his neck) "Everyone, stay close to me! We have to work together if we want to get through this floor!"

Karim: The young vessel calls upon the bond of his companions. But a battle against seasoned warriors cannot be won by sentiment alone. The Pharaoh must awaken.

Priest Set: (Leaning forward, his eyes locked onto the screen with ferocious intensity) Let us see how the King of Shadows navigates a battlefield of modern weapons. If my future self expects these soldiers to crush him, he underestimates the spirit that commands the Millennium Items. Awaken, Pharaoh! Show these mercenaries what it means to face the absolute judgment of Egypt!

(The mirror flares with an ominous golden light as the Eye of Wadjat begins to bleed through the modern digital static, signaling the true beginning of the gauntlet.)

Act V: The Trap of the Heavy Machinery

(The mirror surges with dense static as the scene cuts to the layout of the space maze. Yuugi and his friends navigate the metal corridors cautiously, their laser weapons drawn. Suddenly, the ceiling above them groans under immense mechanical weight. Massive, electrified steel block traps begin dropping from the ceiling, threatening to crush the teenagers instantly.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Pushing Anzu out of the way as a steel pillar slams into the floor) "What the hell?! These aren't toy props! If one of those things lands on us, we're pancake meat!"

Kaiba Seto (On Screen): (His face appearing on a local monitor, his voice cold and flat) "I told you this was Death-T, Jounouchi. The sensors in your vests are calibrated to the machinery. If your life bars drain from a laser strike, the automated block traps will finish the job. There are no safety nets in my colosseum."

Priest Set: (His eyes widening slightly, a flicker of genuine shock crossing his features) He is using industrial building hazards as active execution tools. My future incarnation has completely abandoned the elegance of a pure duel. He wants a slaughter, pure and simple.

Aknadin: It is a manifestation of his broken pride. When the Pharaoh crushed his mind in the previous encounter, it left a vacuum of absolute desperation. He will tear down the entire tower if it means burying his humiliation beneath the rubble.

Mana: (Screaming at the mirror, her knuckles turning white as she grips her staff) Look at the small Yugi! He’s cornered by that giant block! Master Mahad, do something!

Mahad: (His purple spiritual aura flaring with immense concentration) Look closer at the Puzzle, Mana. The golden lines are pulsing at a frequency we haven't seen before. The Pharaoh isn't just taking control of the flesh—he is analyzing the physical vectors of the machinery.

Act VI: The Awakening in the Smoke

(Inside the mirror, a thick cloud of mechanical smoke blankets the corridor as a block trap slams directly over Yugi's position. The companions scream out in horror, believing him crushed. But as the smoke parts, a brilliant, piercing golden Eye of Wadjat cuts through the haze. The Pharaoh stands tall, his crimson eyes glowing with absolute fury as he discards his damaged cyber vest.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "You think your steel blocks and professional soldiers make you a king, Kaiba? You claim to command technology, yet you are nothing more than a prisoner of your own malice! If it is a real war you want, then the shadows will answer!"

Mercenary Leader (On Screen): (Speaking into his comm-link, his voice dropping its confident tone) "Command, we have a visual anomaly. The target's vital signatures just spiked beyond normal human baseline. His eyes... they're glowing. Requesting permission to switch to live ammunition."

Shimon Muran: (A fierce, triumphant laugh echoing through the afterlife court) The King has discarded the modern limitations of their 'game'! He is no longer playing by Kaiba's calibrated rules. He has invoked the raw spiritual authority of the throne!

Karim: Look at the shadows stretching along the metal walls. They are no longer simple reflections of the artificial light. They are responding to the Pharaoh's internal command lines.

Isis: The first floor of Death-T is about to become an execution ground for Kaiba's mercenaries. The true wrath of Egypt has been awakened.

Priest Set: (Stepping right up to the glass mirror, a fierce, burning grin on his face) Let the soldiers shoot their live ammunition! Let Kaiba activate every machine in his empire! They are about to learn that you cannot kill a phantom, and you cannot conquer a Pharaoh! Break them, sovereign! Turn their digital tower into their own tomb!

(The afterlife mirror erupts into a brilliant, blinding golden flash as the Pharaoh charges blindly into the maze, leaving the ancient spirits of Egypt locked in absolute, breathless triumph.)

Act VII: The Scent of Gunpowder

(The internal corridors of the space maze echo with heavy, tactical footsteps. From the billowing mechanical steam, the three professional mercenaries advance in an airtight pincer formation, their glowing visors locked onto the single silhouette standing without a cyber vest.)

Code Name: Red (On Screen): "Target has discarded his safety gear. Disregarding protocol. Switching weapon modules from stun feedback to standard combat munitions. Fire on sight!"

(The lead soldier unleashes a hail of heavy, high-velocity energy rounds that chew through the metallic walls, sending showers of white-hot sparks raining down over the arena floor.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Shielding Anzu behind a fallen bulkhead, screaming through the noise) "Yuugi! Get down! They’re really trying to kill us! This isn't a game anymore!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Standing completely motionless as the rounds streak past his face, his crimson eyes flashing with an unyielding ancient majesty) "You fire your weapons of iron and gunpowder, believing they grant you the authority of life and death. But you are fighting within a sanctuary of the shadows now. Your bullets have no power here!"

Priest Set: (Slamming his fist against the edge of the afterlife mirror, his voice booming with absolute excitement) Look at them press the assault! Live ammunition against a pharaoh! They think a higher velocity of metal changes the hierarchy of a battlefield. They are nothing but ants trying to shoot down the sun!

Mahad: The Pharaoh is letting their aggression overextend. Look at the shadows pooling beneath the soldiers' boots. He is pulling the ambient dark from the corners of the room, threading it into a localized net.

Mana: (Clapping her hands, her eyes sparkling through the mirror) Go, Pharaoh! Trap them! Make their fancy visors completely blind!

Act VIII: The Judgment of the Labyrinth

(With a sharp, rhythmic snap of his fingers, the Pharaoh commands the darkness. The shadows along the floor stretch upward like liquid tar, wrapping around the legs of the three mercenaries and pinning them to the metal grid.)

Code Name: Blue (On Screen): "Sir! The floor... the physical geometry of the terrain is fluctuating! My boots are fused to the deck plates! I can't move!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "You sold your skills to a broken king to hunt down children in a maze. For that transgression, your modern training is worthless. I activate the trap card, Labyrinth Shift!"

(The holographic projectors of the space station malfunction violently under the weight of the Pharaoh’s spiritual energy. The steel block traps overhead slip from their electronic moorings, dropping down to encase the three soldiers in an unbreakable cage of solid iron, completely disarming them.)

Mercenary Leader (On Screen): "Command... Kaiba-sama... our positions have been completely compromised by an unknown force... We are neutralized..."

Shimon Muran: (Nodding his head with immense pride, his long beard shaking) Flawless execution! He turned the very machinery of Kaiba's execution tower against the executioners themselves. The first floor belongs strictly to the throne!

Karim: Look at the monitor on the wall. Kaiba Seto is watching the feed, and his face has gone completely pale. He did not anticipate his elite professionals being dismantled without the Pharaoh even drawing a single card.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping back toward his royal seat, a deep, resonant warmth in his voice) The bond of the companions remains unbroken, and the first gate of the trial has been cleared with honor.

Priest Set: (Staring fiercely into the fading purple twilight of the mirror, his arms crossing over his chest as the elevator doors on screen open to take the teenagers to the next floor) One floor down, and the gauntlet only grows steeper. Let my future self watch from his command room. Every trap he sets is just another stone my sovereign will use to build his monument of victory!

(The afterlife mirror settles into a quiet, deep indigo mist, leaving the ancient spirits of Egypt to stand in silent, proud alignment as the shadows of Death-T continue to unfold.)

Chapter 12: The Rhythms of Sacrifice and Confession

Chapter Text

Act I: The Falling Monoliths

(The celestial mirror flashes violently, revealing an enclosed concrete chamber. High up on the walls, mechanical trapdoors open with a thunderous hiss. Colossal concrete blocks begin raining down at erratic intervals, violently shaking the room.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Ducking as a shadow looms overhead) "Something's falling! Everyone, be careful! Another block is falling!"

Kaiba Seto (On Screen): (His voice broadcasting through speaker arrays with agonizing detachment) "Now, can you get out of that room without those blocks crushing you? It’d be boring for me if they're defeated here. But know this—you cannot beat this game without sacrificing others."

Mana: (Gripping her staff tightly, her face pale) He is trying to force them to betray one another! He wants them to trample over their companions just to find a path to survival!

Priest Set: (Staring intensely at the screen, a dark scowl on his face) A cruel calibration. He uses the threat of sudden crushing weight to test the baseline of human selfishness. In a crisis, the weak usually discard their allies to preserve their own breath.

Mahad: Look at Yuugi, Priest Set. He isn't running blindly. He is looking up at the heights.

Yuugi (On Screen): (Pointing upward toward a distant door near the ceiling) "No good, there's no place left to run! Everyone, climb on the blocks! The game is to escape this room! As the blocks fall, they build up and we climb them to escape!"

Shimon Muran: (Nodding slowly) He has realized the nature of the trap. The execution tools are also the stairs to salvation. It requires absolute precision to climb a collapsing mountain.

Act II: The Dance of the Program

(The blocks fall faster, their impact echoing like war drums. The teenagers scramble up the concrete tiers, but a sudden shift in the falling zones nearly corners Anzu.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): "Damn it! We'll be crushed at this rate! Is there any way out?!"

Anzu (On Screen): (Closing her eyes, her foot tapping against the concrete block beneath her) "Wait a moment! There's a rhythm to these blocks falling. Perhaps there's a pattern to where they fall!"

Jounouchi (On Screen): "I see! Anzu wants to be a dancer! Her talent is detecting rhythm, right?!"

Anzu (On Screen): (Pointing sharply to an open space to her left) "There! And now... there!"

Kisara: (Softly, her blue eyes wide with wonder) She is reading the heartbeat of the machine. The giant stones are moving to a hidden melody, and her spirit has aligned with it.

Isis: (Tracing her fingers over the frame of the mirror) A large-scale automation like this requires a simplified core calculation. To control something so massive, the computer program must be predictable. The girl has uncovered the architect's simple dance.

Act III: The Rook Falls

(The mechanical tempo suddenly spikes. A shrill alarm sounds as the concrete blocks begin plunging twice as fast, entirely altering the pattern.)

Anzu (On Screen): (Screaming through the dust) "The rhythm's changed! Honda, watch out!"

(A massive block slams downward, catching the fabric of Honda’s jacket and pinning his torso against the lower tier as the exit platform begins to close above them.)

Yuugi (On Screen): (Reaching down desperately from the upper platform) "Honda-kun, give me your hand! Hurry!"

Honda (On Screen): (Looking up at the closing door, his expression turning entirely stoic) "Yuugi... Jounouchi... take care of Yuugi. I... stop here."

Jounouchi (On Screen): "Honda! No! Don't do this!"

Honda (On Screen): (Smiling faintly through the rising dust) "Later."

(Another block drops, completely obscuring Honda from view as the platform seals the remaining friends outside the chamber.)

Karim: (Stirring, his hand tightening around the illusory weight of his Millennium Scale) A warrior has stayed behind to guarantee the advance of his sovereign. He chose to be the shield.

Aknadin: (Coldly) Kaiba’s prediction manifests. A piece has been taken from the board.

(The scene shifts to the master control room. Kaiba Seto sits in a high-backed leather chair, his fingers interlaced as he looks down at a digital chess array.)

Kaiba Seto (On Screen): "Using chess as the analogy... Yuugi is the king. Jounouchi is the knight. Honda is a rook. A rook has fallen. So begins the countdown till checkmate."

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (His brow furrowing with deep sorrow) He views human devotion as nothing more than a lost piece on a wooden grid. He does not understand that a sacrifice made out of love does not weaken the king—it ignites the kingdom.

Act IV: The Royal Betrayal

(Mokuba Kaiba steps into the control room, his small face contorted with bitterness as he confronts his older brother.)

Mokuba (On Screen): "At any rate, I'm up, Nii-sama. Do you remember your bet with me? Before the Death-T plan, we made a bet on which stage Yuugi would fall. You bet on Death-T Four because that's where you and I will fight... but Nii-sama, you bet on Death-T Five!"

Kaiba Seto (On Screen): (Without looking back) "What are you trying to say, Mokuba?"

Mokuba (On Screen): (Tears gathering in his eyes) "You know! I've put up with your insults all this time, because you bet on Yuugi over your own little brother! I will definitely defeat Yuugi and show you!"

Kaiba Seto (On Screen): (Turning his head slightly, his eyes frozen over) "Impossible. Understand that in the world of games, useless things like brotherly love don't exist! Till you understand this, you will never defeat Yuugi!"

Priest Set: (Recoiling slightly, his jaw clenching as he looks at his own modern counterpart) Fool... you are cutting away your own blood. To deny the sacred bond of family for the sake of an absolute victory... it is a path that leads straight into ruin.

Aknadin: (Looking down at his own hands, his voice dropping to a low, gravelly whisper) A father... a brother... when the heart isolates itself entirely to cultivate power, it becomes an empty shell. He is breaking the boy’s spirit just as I once...

(Aknadin cuts himself off, his golden ornaments rattling in the sudden silence of the court.)

Act V: The Vessel’s Confession

(Back in the dark corridor beyond the block room, Yuugi Mutou falls to his knees. His small hands clutch the golden edges of the Millennium Puzzle, his body trembling violently.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): "Yuugi? What's wrong?"

Yuugi (On Screen): (Weeping, his voice cracking with immense vulnerability) "I... I can't suppress it... something inside me. I have been hiding something from you all. I feel like there's another me that I know nothing about."

Anzu (On Screen): "Another Yuugi?!"

Yuugi (On Screen): "Ever since I completed this Millennium Puzzle, sometimes I fade out of consciousness. I think that's when I change into the other me! Even though we're friends, I thought if you found out, you'd leave! I was scared of that! It's my fault Honda-kun and Grandpa are being taken!"

Mana: (Her eyes tearing up as she looks at the crying boy) Oh, little Yuugi... he thinks he is a monster because of the spirit inside him. He has been carrying the weight of our Pharaoh all alone, terrified that his friends would hate him for it.

Mahad: He does not yet understand the nature of the residency. The Pharaoh does not overwrite his heart; they share the same temple.

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Slamming his hand against the wall, his voice echoing fiercely) "Yuugi, you! Try saying that again! Don't you understand why we came with you?! Isn't it because we're friends?! If you're in pain or suffering, then give some to me! That's what being friends is about!"

Anzu (On Screen): (Nodding firmly, wiping a tear from her cheek) "Jounouchi is right. We're friends. No matter what happens."

Shada: (Deeply moved, his light armor shimmering) The bond of the modern commoners is profound. They do not bow to him because he is a king; they stand beside him because they share his agony.

Act VI: Acceptance of the Identity

(As the warmth of his friends' words washes over him, Yuugi's trembling stops. He stands up slowly, his posture straightening. The tears dry upon his face, and his eyes open with a newly found, serene clarity.)

Yuugi (On Screen): "Jounouchi-kun... Anzu... everyone taught me. Taught me true courage. I'm no longer afraid of my other me."

(Suddenly, the floor beneath them sections off. A metallic shutter rises, separating Yuugi from Anzu, Jounouchi, and Miho as a mechanical track pulls his platform into an adjacent battle arena.)

Mokuba (On Screen): (Standing across the chamber on a high pedestal, a digital game mat glowing before him) "Welcome to my stage. Death-T Four. Yuugi, I challenge you one-on-one. Come alone into the battle box!"

Jounouchi (On Screen): "Yuugi, it's dangerous for you to go all alone! We'll go too!"

Yuugi (On Screen): (Looking back over his shoulder, a soft, confident smile on his face) "Let me go alone. It's okay. I have my friends. I have you all."

Priest Set: (Stepping back, his eyes flashing with anticipation) The boy has accepted the presence of the soul within him. He no longer fights to hide his shadow—he fights with it.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: The true awakening does not happen through fear, but through absolute trust. The modern vessel is ready.

(The mirror turns a deep, burning gold as Yuugi steps into the battle box, the silhouette of the Pharaoh rising majestically behind him as the second game begins.)

Act V: The True Scope of the Labyrinth

(The afterlife mirror continues to illuminate the cold, concrete chamber of Death-T Four. Mokuba Kaiba stands across the dividing mesh, his knuckles white as he grips his handheld capsule launcher. On the other side, Yuugi Mutou stands perfectly still, his eyes no longer downcast but fixed on his opponent with a profound, calm readiness.)

Mokuba (On Screen): "Don't mock me, Yuugi! My brother thinks I'm useless, but I'll show him! I'll destroy you right here on this grid, and then Nii-sama will have to look at me!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (The Millennium Puzzle hums with a warm, golden resonance that begins to push back the dark static of the automated room) "You fight with an artificial fury, Mokuba. You lash out to gain the attention of a brother who has blinded himself to your worth. But a game played out of desperation and fear can never grasp victory."

Mana: (Wiping her eyes quickly, her voice bright again) Look at the Pharaoh! He isn't angry at the little boy at all. He understands exactly why the boy is acting so meanly.

Mahad: Our sovereign possesses the sight of truth, Mana. He sees that the child across the board is just as much a prisoner of Kaiba’s tower as Honda or Sugoroku. He is playing to break a cycle of isolation, not merely to defeat an enemy.

Priest Set: (Crossing his arms tightly, his eyes fixed on the capsule layouts) The boy Mokuba has loaded high-tier brute attributes into his capsule slots. He thinks raw power will compensate for his fractured focus. It is an unstable formation.

Act VI: The Reversal of the Board

(Inside the mirror, the capsule monsters materialize over the digital grid with a loud hiss of projected light. Mokuba commands a massive, armored beast to charge across the center lane, aiming directly for Yuugi's primary defensive piece.)

Mokuba (On Screen): "Go! Crushing Strike! Take out his front line in one hit!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (With a single, fluid wave of his hand) "A direct charge leaves your flank entirely exposed to the natural terrain. I activate the hidden grid feature: Quicksand Pit!"

(The holographic floor beneath Mokuba's monster liquefies into a swirling vortex of digital sand, sinking the armored beast up to its chest and halting its advance completely.)

Mokuba (On Screen): (Staggering backward, his eyes wide) "What?! There wasn't supposed to be a trap there! The program... Nii-sama's data didn't list that!"

Shimon Muran: (Chuckling softly, nodding his head) The boy relies entirely on the scrolls his brother provided him. He does not realize that when the Pharaoh stepped into the battle box, the ancient rules of the shadow game overwrote the simple commands of the computer.

Shada: The board is no longer calculated by Kaiba’s mainframe. It is weighing the spiritual authority of the players. And the boy's foundation is crumbling under his own self-doubt.

Act VII: The Extraction of the Soul

(With a final, strategic alignment of his remaining capsule pieces, the Pharaoh executes a flawless counter-maneuver, systematically depleting Mokuba's life bar to zero without destroying the boy's remaining monsters. The holographic grid dissolves into a quiet, blue mist.)

Mokuba (On Screen): (Dropping his capsule launcher, his shoulders shaking as he looks down at the floor) "I lost... even with all this data... I couldn't do it... Nii-sama was right... I really am useless to him..."

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Walking calmly across the open dividing gate, stopping just a few paces from the weeping child) "You are not useless, Mokuba. The king who sits in that control tower is the one who is truly blind. He has traded the warmth of his blood for a kingdom made of glass and wires. But a crown that requires you to step over your brother is a curse."

Aknadin: (Speaking from the shadows of the afterlife court, his deep voice carrying an immense weight of historical regret) Listen to the sovereign, boy... He speaks the truth that took me a lifetime of darkness to understand.

Kisara: (Her soft blue eyes reflecting the gentle light of the mirror) The Pharaoh did not use his magic to crush the child's mind this time. Look at how the golden light from the Puzzle is wrapping around them both. It is a judgment of mercy.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Standing tall, his royal presence radiating an absolute, protective peace) The fourth gate of Death-T has been cleared, not through violence, but through the restoration of Ma'at. The vessel has preserved his honor and guarded his allies.

Priest Set: (Staring fiercely into the crystal glass as the image of Kaiba Seto appears on the grand monitor overhead, his face a mask of absolute, unreadable stone as he watches his brother's defeat) The path to the summit is completely clear now. My future self stands at the apex of his tower, completely stripped of his proxies and his plans. The next step is the final confrontation. Let the dragon and the pharaoh meet face-to-face under the true light of the shadows!

(The afterlife mirror settles into a quiet, burning gold twilight, leaving the ancient Egyptian court standing in breathless, silent anticipation of the final battle to come.)

Chapter 13: The Summit of Steel and Sapphire

Chapter Text

Act I: The Precipice of the True Apex

(The afterlife court is thick with a heavy, electric stillness. Within the shimmering frame of the crystal mirror, the concrete structures of Death-T collapse away into a singular, colossal elevator platform rising into the artificial night sky. Mokuba Kaiba sits curled safely on a lower sub-level, his small hands gripping his knees as he looks up toward the final arena. Above him, the platform locks into place at Death T-5. The holographic emitters hum, projecting a pristine, glass-paneled dueling arena that overlooks the sprawling neon grid of Kaiba Land.)

(Standing at the center of the stadium is Seto Kaiba, his long white coat snapping in the artificial wind, his eyes frozen with an absolute, unyielding malice. Across from him steps the small mortal vessel, Yuugi Mutou—but as his boots click against the glass, the golden eye of the Millennium Puzzle flares into a blazing, crimson luminescence. The presence of the Nameless Pharaoh takes the field, his regal posture completely matching the taller king’s stance.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "Welcome to the final stage, Yuugi-kun. You are the only one I cannot forgive."

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (His voice deep, echoing through both the digital stadium and the stone halls of the afterlife court) "At this point, words are pointless. The only thing to decide our fate is the cards."

Priest Set: (Stepping so close to the crystal mirror that his fingers brush the golden frame, his blue eyes wide, completely captivated) Look at the focus in his stance... There is no hesitation left in my modern reflection. He has purged every fraction of doubt. He stands at the summit of his creation, demanding a battle of pure tactical authority.

Isis: (Her hand resting lightly on her Millennium Necklace, her brow furrowed in deep concentration) The strings of fate are vibrating violently, Priest Set. This is not merely a game devised by a merchant prince. The modern world has built an altar of glass and wire, but the blood that spills upon it will have the weight of an ancient judgment.

Mana: (Peeking out from behind Mahad’s shoulder, her voice hushed and anxious) Master Mahad... look at the other screen. The mean man’s servants are down below where Jounouchi and the others are!

Act II: The Proxy Defiance of the Modern Court

(The mirror splits its focus, revealing a secondary arena below the main tower. Jounouchi stands trapped inside a massive, mechanical battle suit that locks around his limbs like iron armor. Across from him stand two of Kaiba’s elite executioners, Ryuuichi Fuwa and Aileen Rao, sneering through the visor of their monitoring devices.)

Fuwa (On Screen): "If you want to save the old man and your friend, you have to win the game. The rules are simple. It's a fighting game. I will control Aileen. That woman will control you."

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Struggling against the heavy servos, his face flushed with rage) "What are you doing?! This battle suit is freaking heavy! I can't move on my own!"

Karim: (His arms crossed, his massive frame radiating disapproval) To bind a warrior within a machine and force another to pull the strings... it is a coward’s strategy. It lacks the honor of a true trial before the scales.

Shada: (Nodding slowly, his Millennium Key glowing faintly) It is worse than that, Karim. The modern king is using these proxies to drain the spirit of the Pharaoh's companions. He wants to ensure that when the final blow is struck at the top of the tower, the Pharaoh stands completely isolated, stripped of the bonds that gave him strength in the lower gates.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Watching the main screen, where the Pharaoh and Kaiba begin to shuffle each other's decks) "Mine are my grandpa's cards with his soul in them," the vessel says. A beautiful sentiment. He fights with the weight of an ancestral legacy, while the young Kaiba fights only with the weight of his own grand design. Let us see which foundation holds when the storm begins.

Act III: The Descent of the White Dragons

(The electronic chimes of the dueling tables sound in unison. The life point counters ignite, flashing a bright, neon 2000 for both competitors.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "My deck has the three most powerful cards, admirable Blue Eyes White Dragons. There is no card in this world that is greater. This will be your grave!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "I believe in my grandpa's cards. I will definitely win. Duel!"

(The first turns pass in a rapid blur of tactical maneuvering. The Pharaoh summons the Pterosaur, Guardian of the Fortress, striking past Kaiba’s Cyclops and dropping Kaiba’s life points to 1800.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): "That's it, Yuugi! Just now Kaiba-kun's life points dropped by 200!"

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): (Laughing coldly, entirely unphased) "Didn't hurt at all, brave Yuugi. You still preserve your dignity for the first turn. Next I draw a card... Blocking monster now in attack mode: Dark Clown Saggi!"

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his beard rapidly, his eyes narrowing) A clown? He boasts of magnificent dragons, yet he fields a circus performer against a winged guardian? The young man’s arrogance is stalling his own strategy.

Mahad: (Stepping forward, his magical aura flaring with sudden recognition as Kaiba slides a second card into the table) No, Lord Shimon. It is not arrogance. Look at the parchment he places beside the creature.

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "Magic card: Dark energy! It increases his offense power by three! Attack the Pterosaur! Dark Glide!"

(The holographic clown expands, its pale face twisting into a demonic maw as heavy, purplish-black tendrils of ancient energy wrap around its blades, tearing the Pterosaur from the sky and shattering it into digital glass. The Pharaoh’s life points drop instantly to 1600.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "How do you find the combo of Dark Clown Saggi with dark element magic? The combination of monster cards and magic cards is the true key to victory!"

Mahad: (His breath hitching) That... that is the exact calculation of Heká. He has multiplied the vessel's base spirit by three using an elemental catalyst. He understands the ancient laws of combination without ever reading a single temple scroll.

Priest Set: (A proud, fierce smirk breaking across his regal face) Did you expect any less from my soul's continuation, Mahad? He does not rely on simple brute force. He understands that a true king bends the rules of the environment to create an absolute advantage. The Pharaoh's vessel is completely trapped in a defensive cycle!

Act IV: The Echo of the Ancient Cavalry

(On the split screen below, Jounouchi takes a massive hit from Aileen’s special move, his mechanical life bar flashing red as he falls to one knee. On the main stage, the Pharaoh draws his next card, his face grim as Saggi the Dark Clown looms over his empty field.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "Looks like this match won't last long enough for me to use a Blue Eyes White Dragon."

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Closing his eyes for a fraction of a second, feeling the pulse of the Millennium Puzzle against his chest) "Grandpa believes in me... He entrusted these cards to me. I can hear grandpa's passionate feeling. I believe in my cards! Dark Knight Gaia!"

(With a tremendous thunderclap of simulated stone and steel, a massive, violet-armored knight mounted on a charging, crimson stallion materializes on the glass platform. The knight raises his twin lances, his eyes burning with an unyielding warrior spirit.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "In the magic knight group, it's the most powerful card! Attack! Spiral Shaver!"

(Gaia charges across the glass, his lances piercing straight through the center of the magically enhanced clown, obliterating it in an explosion of white light. Kaiba’s life point counter rapidly ticks down, leveling the score perfectly at 1400 to 1400.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Yelling through his visor, his spirit re-igniting) "Now their points are even! This is where the battle begins, Yuugi!"

Aknadin: (Moving slowly from the dark corner of the hall, his lone eye fixed entirely on the charging image of Dark Knight Gaia) Look at that knight... look at the absolute devotion in his armor. He does not ride for gold or for the preservation of a machine empire. He rides because he was summoned by the true name of his master.

Kisara: (Her voice small, sweet, but carrying a strange resonance that makes Priest Set turn his head) The cards are changing... They are no longer just pictures printed on paper. The modern king’s clown used dark energy, but the Pharaoh's knight brought forward the light of ancient loyalty.

Aknadin: (Gripping his ornate robes, his voice dropping into a rasping whisper) Yes... the modern Kaiba thinks he has built a flawless system of numbers and logic. But the Pharaoh has just introduced the one variable that a computer can never calculate: the unyielding spirit of a protector. The true battle has finally begun, Set. The scales are perfectly balanced, and the shadows are waiting to see which king will break first.

(The afterlife mirror pulses with a blinding, iridescent light as Seto Kaiba reaches slowly for his deck, his fingers resting on the card that carries the spirit of the white dragon. The entire Egyptian court stands frozen, their eyes locked on the impending descent of the ultimate beast.)

Act V: The Breath of the Illusion

(The celestial mirror shifts focus as Kaiba’s hand hovers over his technological card matrix. The electronic indicators across the glass floor pulse with high-frequency static, and a chilling, low-pitched rumble vibrates through the artificial stadium panels.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "You think a single armored horseman can halt the absolute trajectory of my company, Yuugi-kun? The combination you played was amusing, but it belongs to a past era. Now... look upon the apex of modern power! I summon... the first Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

(The holographic projectors roar into overdrive, creating a blinding funnel of sapphire lightning that fractures the air. From the center of the light, the magnificent, pearlescent beast descends, its giant wings beating back the digital smoke as its cold, reptilian eyes lock onto Dark Knight Gaia.)

Blue-Eyes White Dragon (On Screen): (Unleashes a deafening, metallic screech that registers an immediate shockwave throughout the stadium's audio system) Kisara: (Her spectral form instantly moving right against the crystal surface of the mirror, her breath fogging the ancient glass as her deep blue eyes flash with recognition) The dragon... it has emerged. But look at its scales, Priest Set... they are dull. The digital light mimics the shape of its wings, but the internal flame is suffocated by that boy's hatred.

Priest Set: (Staring fiercely at his modern counterpart, his fists clenching so hard his ornaments rattle) He treats the ultimate creature as an extension of his own pride. He does not call upon it as a partner of the light—he calls upon it as an instrument of execution!

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "Attack, Blue-Eyes! Burst Stream of Destruction! Vaporize his knight into nothingness!"

(The dragon opens its massive jaws, releasing a concentrated beam of white-hot plasma that pierces straight through Dark Knight Gaia's shield, shattering the warrior and the horse into glittering fragments of electronic glass. The Pharaoh’s life points drop down to 700.)

Act VI: The Strategy of the Sealed Hand

(On the lower platform, the split-screen reveals Jounouchi taking another heavy blow, his robotic vest sparking violently as Fuwa laughs over the intercom. At the top of the tower, the Pharaoh stands calmly behind his console, his expression entirely focused despite the critical deficit in his life bar.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Drawing his next card with absolute precision) "The bond my grandfather had with these cards cannot be severed by a blast of light, Kaiba. Every piece of this deck is a link to the people who trust me. I place one monster in defense mode!"

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "Pathetic! A defensive wall is nothing more than a brief delay before your absolute execution! I draw... and I summon my second Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

(The arena fractures a second time as an identical twin of the massive white beast materializes beside the first, its sapphire eyes glowing with the same artificial fury.)

Mana: (Screaming in horror, hiding her face in Mahad’s purple sleeves) Two of them! Master Mahad, how can anyone fight two giant dragons at the same time?! The field is completely covered in their shadows!

Mahad: (His eyes fixed on the card the Pharaoh just added to his hidden hand) The Pharaoh is not trying to match their physical attributes, Mana. Look closely at the cards he holds in reserve. He is collecting fragments.

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his long white beard with immense speed, a sudden realization lighting up his ancient eyes) Fragments... could it be? The ancient tablets of the forbidden seals? The cards his grandfather guarded so fiercely in the small shop?

Isis: (Nodding slowly, her golden necklace radiating a warm, defensive aura) Yes... the modern king relies on the duplication of a single powerful beast to conquer the grid. But the Pharaoh is gathering the pieces of an absolute entity that transcends the entire system.

Act VII: The Broken Link

(Inside the mirror, Kaiba commands both dragons to advance, completely obliterating the Pharaoh's defensive monsters and pinning his remaining options to the absolute brink.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "It is over, Yuugi-kun! On my next turn, my third dragon will join the field, and your life points will be wiped from the data banks completely! You have nowhere left to run!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Looking down at the cards in his hand, his eyes burning like hot rubies as the silhouette of the complete ancient seal begins to hum within his spirit) "A true king does not look for an escape route, Kaiba. He creates the path by believing in the heart of his choices. I draw the final piece!"

Karim: (His hand tightening around his spectral scale) The balance is shifting rapidly. The modern tower cannot sustain the weight of what is about to be unleashed.

Priest Set: (Leaning forward, his breath catching as the golden Eye of Wadjat flashes on the Pharaoh's forehead with a brightness that illuminates the entire afterlife hall) The final piece has arrived... He has gathered the forbidden attributes of the underworld!

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Kaiba... your three dragons represent the peak of mortal calculation. But they cannot match the absolute authority of the gods! I present to you... the five sealed cards of Exodia the Forbidden One!"

(The afterlife mirror erupts into a violent, blinding column of pure golden magic that shatters the digital framework of the stadium, leaving the ancient spirits of Egypt to stand in absolute, breathless triumph as the true final judgment descends.)

Act VIII: The Assembly of the Forbidden One

(The celestial mirror ripples with high-frequency static as the Pharaoh holds five cards aloft, his crimson eyes glowing with an unyielding ancient majesty. The electronic indicators across the glass floor pulse violently under a sudden surge of ancient, spiritual energy.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): "Exodia...?! Impossible! That is nothing but a collection of garbage cards that have no place in a functional tactical matrix! You cannot defeat my dragons with dead weight!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "You bound your soul to the architecture of machines, Kaiba. You calculated every vector of the grid, but you forgot that a card deck carries the collective spirit of those who guard it. My grandfather held these pieces together through decades of isolation. Now, the seal is broken!"

Shimon Muran: (Slamming his staff against the stone floor of the court, his voice booming with immense, trembling triumph) The forbidden pieces... they have been drawn into a single hand! For three thousand years, those attributes were locked beneath the sands because their weight was too monumental for a single human vessel to sustain. Look at the boy's spirit—it isn't buckling!

Aknadin: (His lone eye widening as he steps out of the shadows) He has bypassed the entire system. Kaiba constructed an absolute fortress of logic, yet the Pharaoh has just introduced an entity that operates entirely outside the parameters of mortality.

Mana: (Clapping her hands, her eyes wide with magical wonder) Master Mahad, look! The cards are melting into real golden chains!

Act IX: The Divine Verdict

(A cataclysmic tremor rattles the digital tower. The glass panels of the arena floor fracture as five massive, intersecting golden seals manifest in mid-air. From the localized void, two colossal, muscle-bound arms wrapped in heavy iron chains tear through the digital sky, followed by a towering, ancient titan whose golden chestplate bears the sacred emblem of the underworld.)

Exodia the Forbidden One (On Screen): (Unleashes a low, resonant roar that completely overloads the stadium’s audio arrays, sending a shockwave across the neon grid of Kaiba Land.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): (Staggering backward, his white coat snapping violently as his command monitors explode into cascades of white-hot sparks) "The holographic generators... they shouldn't be able to project an energy signature this dense! The power baseline is registering off the charts! What kind of program is this?!"

Priest Set: (A fierce, wild grin breaking across his face, his blue eyes flashing with absolute exhilaration) It is no program, my future reflection! You are looking at the raw, unadulterated execution of the ancient laws! You thought you could treat the spirits as mere numbers on a slate, but the Forbidden One answers to no calculation!

Kisara: (Speaking softly, her hand resting against the glass of the mirror) The two white dragons... look at them. They are no longer snarling. They are bowing their heads. They recognize the divine authority of the seal.

Mahad: The final movement is here. The modern king’s empire is being weighed by the shadows, and its foundation has been found entirely hollow.

Act X: Exodia Obliterate

(The Pharaoh raises his right hand, his crimson eyes glowing with the absolute, unyielding authority of the throne as the golden Eye of Wadjat burns upon his forehead.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Your automated dragons are magnificent, Kaiba. But their flame belongs to a mortal beast. Face the ultimate judgment of Egypt! Exodia... Blaze Inferno! Obliterate!"

(The colossal titan crosses his chained wrists, gathering an infinite, blinding sphere of golden solar energy between his palms. With a single forward thrust, the sphere erupts into a massive tidal wave of pure, purifying light that completely engulfs the two Blue-Eyes White Dragons, dissolving their digital matrices into harmless particles of blue static before striking Kaiba’s console squarely in the center. Kaiba’s life point counter rapidly plummets from 1400 to an absolute 0.)

Seto Kaiba (On Screen): (Thrown backward by the spiritual concussion, slamming against the steel railing as his wrist locator disintegrates into smoke) "My pride... my company... completely wiped out by a single movement... How... how could my calculations be so entirely wrong...?"

Karim: (Nodding solemnly as his spectral scale balances perfectly) The executioner has been neutralized. The balance of Ma'at has been restored to the modern era.

Shada: The tower is shutting down. Below, the battle suits are unlocking. Jounouchi and the others are free from their mechanical cages. The Pharaoh has secured the survival of his companions without sacrificing a single soul.

Act XI: The Extraction of the Malice

(The smoke clears, leaving the glass stadium in total, breathless silence under the real stars. Kaiba Seto lies slumped against the railing, his eyes wide and completely vacant, staring at his trembling hands as the Pharaoh walks calmly across the cracked floor to stand over him.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Your heart has been consumed by a toxic obsession with victory, Kaiba. You isolated yourself from your blood, built a fortress of wire, and treated the innocent as disposable pawns to bury your past defeat. For those transgressions, I deliver the final sentence. Mind Crush!"

(A slender, brilliant column of golden light shoots from the centerpiece of the Millennium Puzzle, striking Kaiba directly in the forehead. A spectral image of Kaiba’s overinflated, stone-carved ego materializes for a fraction of a second before shattering into thousands of harmless, glittering shards. Kaiba slumps forward onto the deck, his expression settling into a deep, peaceful trance.)

Aknadin: (A long, raspy sigh of absolute relief escaping his chest as he steps back into the court) The malice has been systematically extracted. The boy will no longer hunt the relics with a heart stained in poison. The cycle of hereditary ruthlessness has been broken this day.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Standing tall from his royal seat, his golden vestments radiating a profound, paternal pride) My son’s vessel has guarded the lineage with the utmost distinction. He did not use the power of the Forbidden One to destroy the boy’s life; he used it to clear away the darkness that was suffocating his soul.

Priest Set: (Staring intensely into the fading purple twilight of the mirror, his arms crossing over his chest as he looks one last time at his unconscious reincarnation) He is broken now, completely emptied of his pride. But I can still feel the resonance of the dragon within his marrow. When his mind pieces itself back together from that crush, he will no longer fight as a tyrant hidden behind machines. He will rise as a true warrior of the modern age. And when he returns to the field, the true duel between the dragon and the pharaoh will shake the heavens themselves!

(The celestial mirror settles into a quiet, deep indigo mist, leaving the ancient Egyptian spirits to stand in proud, silent alignment as the epic of Death-T safely concludes.)

Chapter 14: The Ring of the Pale Shadow

Chapter Text

As the mirror ripples into a brand-new cycle of fate, the ancient court prepares to witness the arrival of a soul who bears a terrifyingly familiar countenance.

Act I: The Trance of the Defeated Dragon

(The celestial mirror illuminates a quiet, high-tech hospital room. Seto Kaiba lies motionless in a sterile bed, his eyes open but completely vacant, staring blankly at the ceiling as heart monitors beep rhythmically in the background. Mokuba sits beside him, holding his older brother's limp hand.)

Mokuba (On Screen): "Nii-sama... ever since Yuugi gave you that Mind Crush, you haven't spoken a single word. Your heart is completely empty... Please, come back to me..."

Aknadin: (Stepping forward, his lone eye reflecting the sterile hospital light) The sentence was carried out with absolute precision. His ego was a fortress built on malice; when the Pharaoh shattered it, the columns collapsed inward. He is wandering the labyrinth of his own subconscious, rebuilding his soul piece by piece.

Priest Set: (Frowning deeply, his arms crossed over his chest) He looks pathetic lying there, stripped of his fire. But his spirit is not entirely extinguished. The dragon's shadow still lingers in the corners of his mind. He will crawl out of that darkness—I know it.

Isis: (Tracing her hand along her Millennium Necklace) The scales have tipped back toward balance for now, but a vacuum has been created. With Kaiba Seto incapacitated, the shadows are looking for a new vector to breach the mortal plane. Look at the school courtyard... the tapestry of fate is weaving a fresh thread.

Act II: The Arrival of the Pale Boy

(The scene shifts to Domino High School. The sun shines brightly over the concrete courtyard as Yuugi, Jounouchi, Anzu, and Honda walk together. Suddenly, an ethereal, frail boy with long, white-silver hair and large, melancholic brown eyes steps into the frame, carrying a backpack. He stops, offering a gentle, incredibly timid smile.)

Ryou Bakura (On Screen): "Um... hello. My name is Bakura Ryou. I've just transferred to this school today... It's very nice to meet you all."

(The moment the boy introduces himself, a violent, chilling shockwave ripples across the entire afterlife court. The spiritual atmosphere drops to near-freezing temperatures as the ancient Egyptian priests recoil in universal horror.)

Mana: (Screaming loudly, stumbling backward into Mahad’s purple sleeves) Master Mahad! Look at him! Look at his face! It’s... it’s the Thief King! The monster who desecrated the royal tombs!

Mahad: (His knuckles turning white as he grips his magical staff, his aura flaring into a fierce, protective violet flame) Impossible... The Thief King is tightly sealed within the Millennium Ring! How can his flesh walk through the streets of the future?!

Shimon Muran: (His long white beard trembling violently) Look closely at his countenance, Mahad! The eyes are soft, and the posture lacks the savage, bloodthirsty malice of the tomb robber... but the physical vessel is identical! It is his modern-day reincarnation!

Priest Set: (His teeth grinding, his hand instinctively reaching for where his DiaDhank used to sit) Bakura... Even across three thousand years, that wretched bloodline finds a way to crawl back to the sun. If he is near the Pharaoh's vessel, then our king is in mortal danger!

Act III: The Shadow Attached to the Flesh

(Inside the mirror, Yuugi and his friends immediately welcome the polite transfer student, completely unaware of the ancient terror his name invokes. As Ryou walks beside them, his uniform jacket shifts, revealing a massive, golden, circular relic hanging beneath his shirt—the Millennium Ring, its pointing needles swaying rhythmically.)

Ryou Bakura (On Screen): "My father bought this antique ring during a trip to Egypt... Ever since I put it on, I felt a strange connection to it. It’s like it wanted me to come here."

Shada: (His Millennium Key buzzing with an aggressive, warning resonance) The Ring! He carries the sacred artifact of the sands! It has chosen him as its anchor in that distant era!

Karim: (His face pale under his heavy headress) The Thief King’s soul was bound into the gold when the item was cast. The boy Ryou believes he is simply wearing a beautiful treasure, but he is carrying a demonic parasite right against his chest.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping down from his royal throne, his golden robes shimmering with profound anxiety) The innocent boy is a lamb being led by the slaughter. The Thief King’s malice is sleeping within the gold, waiting for the perfect alignment of the stars to overwrite the child's flesh.

Act IV: The Invitation to the Table

(The sky over the mirror turns into a deep, stormy twilight. The scene cuts to Ryou Bakura's dark apartment. A massive tabletop role-playing game map is laid out across the floor, covered in miniature pewter figurines and complex dice grids. Ryou sits in the center, his eyes suddenly shifting from their gentle warmth into a cold, piercing, entirely demonic glare as the pointing needles of the Millennium Ring rise in mid-air.)

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (His voice dropping an octave, echoing with a raspy, ancient malice that shakes the glass of the mirror) "Finally... the pieces are in place. The Millennium Puzzle is within my reach. Welcome to my game, Yuugi... A game where your souls will become the miniatures on my board!"

Priest Set: (A dark, furious scowl settling over his features as he glares at the screen) He has awakened. The polite child has been submerged beneath the surface, and the tomb robber takes the field.

Mahad: He is drawing the Pharaoh into a localized shadow domain using their modern dice games. He wants to separate the vessel from his spiritual guardians.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Staring fiercely into the darkening glass as the golden Eye of Wadjat flashes on the small Yuugi's forehead, signaling the transformation of the King) The vanguard of our ancient war has resurfaced in the future. The dragon has been put to rest, but the ultimate thief has broken his chains. Stand firm, my court! The true battle for the Millennium Items has just begun!

(The afterlife mirror settles into a pitch-black, suffocating indigo fog, leaving the ancient Egyptian spirits to stand in breathless, unified defiance against the shadow of their greatest enemy.)

Chapter 15: The Dice of Ultimate Malice

Chapter Text

Act I: The Two Masters Meet

(The celestial mirror flashes, displaying the sinister tabletop miniature board. Inside the miniature world, the soul of regular Yuugi stands trapped within his own game token. Suddenly, a towering phantasm of the Pharaoh appears over the board, his golden Millennium Puzzle radiating a blinding, protective light.)

Regular Yuugi (On Screen): (Staring up at the towering entity with wide, breathless eyes) "The other... Yuugi?!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Nodding firmly, his arms crossed with majestic authority) "Don't worry. Your lives are in good hands. I will defeat Zooku!"

Regular Yuugi (On Screen): "Two masters... That's the other me? This is our first time meeting, isn't it?"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Yeah. You put your own life at risk to fight with your friends. That courage has brought us together. I will fight for you guys. So everyone, please lend me your power. Don't panic. Don't be afraid of the enemy. We have the power of our unity!"

Mana: (Clapping her hands, tears of joy welling in her eyes) Look at our prince! Even when separated from his royal guards, his words carry the weight of a true king! He commands unity in a world of plastic and paper!

Mahad: (His violet aura flaring proudly) The Pharaoh's essence has fully merged with the boy's courage. But the field they walk upon is treacherous. The Thief King's avatar, Demon King Zooku, is the very fabric of that dark world.

Shimon Muran: (Staring at the digital rules manifesting in the air) Look at the cosmic laws governing this modern game. Decisions are entirely decided by ten-faced dice. A '00' is a super critical—the ultimate triumph. But a '99' is a fumble... it means total destruction and death for the soul trapped inside the piece.

Act II: The Deception of the Shadow King

(On screen, Yami Bakura lets out a raspy, echoing laugh as he scoops up his dice. His eyes gleam with a sickening, predatory amusement.)

Yami Bakura (On Screen): "Now that everyone else is gone, you will roll the dice and move all the pieces. However, if the players' hit points become zero... your friends will die! Let's see you try to match my continuous streak of critical rolls!"

Priest Set: (Glares fiercely into the mirror, his teeth grinding) He speaks of continuous critical rolls with such arrogant certainty. No mortal man can command the random falling of stone or bone without a dark tether. He is manipulating the layout!

Isis: He is. But it is not magic he uses to fix the dice, Set... it is a low, physical deception. Look at his hands.

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Catching the dice mid-air and staring coldly across the table) "Too bad, Bakura, but your cheating won't work on me. These ten-faced dice are split into even and odd numbers. For your 'Double Hit' technique, you keep the even side with 0 up when spinning. By giving one die a strong spin and the other a weak one, you ensure they collide to alter an unfavorable number. And you manipulate the field's vibration by striking the table with your elbow!"

Aknadin: (A grim, twisted smile crossing his weathered face) Ha! The tomb robber treats his modern game with the same underhanded tricks he used to bypass the mechanical traps of our ancestors. But my nephew has spent an eternity deciphering puzzles. A simple trick of physics cannot elude his gaze!

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "From now on, we roll the dice by dropping them. Let's ban the spinning of the dice."

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (His face contorting into a mask of pure, unbridled rage as his cheating is neutralized) "Fine...! Continue the game!"

Act III: Entering the Gates of Zooku

(The scene inside the mirror shifts. With the Pharaoh successfully controlling the pieces, the adventurers wipe out Zooku's minor underlings and forge ahead through a suffocating, bleak forest. Before them, a massive drawbridge lowers, revealing a towering fortress built of obsidian stone and jagged bone.)

Jounouchi / Honda / Anzu (On Screen): "W-what is this castle...?! This is Zooku Castle! The hideout for the ruler of darkness, Demon King Zooku!"

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (Grinning wildly under his long white hair, his Millennium Ring clicking violently against his chest) "Come, adventurers! The path to the castle is open! Yuugi... this is where your game skills will fail you!"

Kisara: (Her voice small and trembling as she steps toward the mirror) The castle field is opening... The darkness inside that structure feels identical to the deep pit beneath the sands of Kul Elna. The Thief King is drawing them into the absolute center of his hatred.

Karim: (Nodding heavily, his arms crossed over his chest plate) He has created a perfect spiritual bottleneck. In the open forest, the Pharaoh's tactical mind could maneuver around the threats. But inside those closed stone walls, every roll of the dice will be a direct gamble against the abyss.

Shada: The companion tokens are moving forward with blind faith. They believe their friendship alone will shield them from the fumbles. They do not understand that the dice do not care for human bonds.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Stepping forward, his royal vestments casting a brilliant, warm golden glow over the anxious court) Let them walk forward into the jaw of the beast. My son has stripped the thief of his loaded dice. Now, the battle strips away the clever tricks and becomes a war of pure spiritual endurance. Stand watch, my protectors! The dark gates have opened, and the final trial of the Ring is at hand!

(The celestial mirror pulses violently as the adventurers step across the threshold of Zooku Castle, leaving the afterlife court in breathtaking, resolute silence.)

Act IV: The Miniatures of Flesh and Blood

(The interior of the obsidian fortress manifests on screen. The dark stone tiles gleam under a sickly crimson fog. At the center of the chamber, three miniature pewter figurines—sculpted to perfectly resemble Jounouchi, Honda, and Anzu—suddenly begin to twitch and breathe, their eyes widening in sheer panic.)

Jounouchi Miniature (On Screen): "W-what the hell is this?! My hands... they’re painted grey! I can't move my legs off this plastic base!"

Anzu Miniature (On Screen): "Yuugi! Help us! We’re stuck inside the board game!"

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (Throwing his head back, his silver hair wild as he lets out a terrifying, guttural laugh) "The moment you stepped into this castle, your physical souls became the property of the dark realm! If your miniature forms take damage from the Demon King, your physical bodies in the real world will bleed! This is the ultimate collection!"

Mana: (Covering her mouth, her voice trembling violently) No! He didn't just trap them in a shadow illusion... he has literally sealed their living ka inside those tiny toy soldiers! It’s just like what he did to the villagers of our past!

Priest Set: (His blue eyes blazing with absolute fury, his hand tightly clenching into a fist) He relies on the exact same strategy. He isolates the Pharaoh’s allies, turns their living essence into static prizes, and uses them to extort our sovereign’s compliance. He hasn't changed a single fraction of his sickening nature in three thousand years!

Act V: The Choice of the Sovereigns

(The Pharaoh stands tall over the table, his fingers lightly resting on the ten-faced dice. His face is a mask of absolute, unyielding focus, the golden Eye of Wadjat pulsing aggressively upon his forehead.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "You claim to be a king of darkness, Bakura, yet you hide behind cardboard screens and plastic pieces. If it is my soul you want for your collection, then face me directly! Do not use my friends as your leverage!"

Yami Bakura (On Screen): "A king does not bargain with a phantom, Yuugi! Roll the dice! Let’s see if your precious 'unity' can survive a critical fumble!"

Mahad: The Thief King is forcing a mathematical crisis. By controlling the terrain parameters, any roll that does not land on a super-critical '00' will actively chip away at the life bars of the companion pieces. It is an execution disguised as a game.

Shamon Muran: But look at the vessel, Mahad! The regular boy, Yuugi, is speaking to the Pharaoh from within the central anchor.

Regular Yuugi (In the Spirit World): "Other me... don't hesitate. I trust you. Jounouchi-kun, Anzu, and Honda are not afraid because they know we are rolling for them. Drop the dice!"

Act VI: The Reversals of the Dark Grid

(With a fluid, majestic movement, the Pharaoh lets the heavy ten-faced dice drop completely flat onto the table, completely avoiding any spin that Bakura could manipulate. The dice tumble across the dark grid, stopping precisely on a double zero—00.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "Super Critical! I activate the special attribute of the warrior piece: Light-Speed Severance!"

(Inside the miniature board, a blinding wave of pure white energy erupts from Jounouchi's figurine, shattering the obsidian pillars of the fortress and striking the giant holographic projection of Demon King Zooku directly in its core.)

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (Staggering back, his hands slamming against the edges of the table as the Millennium Ring clicks wildly against his chest) "Damn you...! A perfect roll without a single spin?! The probability is completely impossible!"

Isis: (A soft, radiant smile gracing her features as her necklace settles into a quiet glow) The probability of the modern world does not apply when two souls exist in perfect alignment. The young vessel and our Pharaoh have merged their resolves into a singular, unshakeable intent.

Karim: The thief thought he could trap them in a cage of numbers, but the absolute faith of the companions is heavier than any dice he can cast.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Looking down at the screen as the darkness of Zooku Castle begins to fracture into brilliant white light) The final movement of the Ring's vanguard is failing. The modern world has built a dark table, but the light of the throne has reclaimed the field. Stand ready, my court! The shadow king is cornered, and the ultimate verdict is about to fall!

(The celestial mirror flashes with a brilliant, iridescent gold as the Pharaoh prepares for the final, decisive throw, leaving the afterlife hall locked in a state of absolute, breathless victory.)

Act VII: The Critical Verdict

(Within the glowing frame of the celestial mirror, the physical tabletop game table shudders violently under a dense pressure. Yami Bakura clutches his chest as the needles of the Millennium Ring spin frantically in an erratic, blurred circle. Across the board, the small miniature figurines of Jounouchi, Honda, and Anzu are bathed in a piercing, protective white aura that cracks their grey plastic prisons.)

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (His teeth bared, his long silver hair whipping wildly about his face as the dark atmosphere of Zooku Castle begins to turn into blinding gold light) "This is absurd! No matter how many times you drop those dice, the statistical probability of surviving a localized shadow field is zero! You cannot defeat the master of the board!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): (Standing entirely tall, his hand hovering with supreme, unshakeable calm above the table as the golden Eye of Wadjat burns like an active sun on his forehead) "Your calculations failed the moment you treated human lives as mere plastic markers, Bakura. A real game isn't dictated by the numbers on a stone or plastic block—it is decided by the weight of the souls casting them! I roll the final dice!"

(The heavy ten-faced dice leave his fingers, falling perfectly flat onto the center grid plate without a single rotation. They bounce twice and freeze simultaneously. The numbers glint brightly under the high-tech lights: 00.)

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (Screaming as a massive, localized shockwave of pure spiritual héká blasts directly from the dice, shattering the tabletop map completely down the middle) "A double zero?! Another super critical?! Nooooo!"

Shimon Muran: (Throwing his hands into the air, his long white beard shaking with absolute, triumphant ecstasy) Flawless victory! The absolute maximum attribute has been rolled twice in succession! The sovereign has completely bypassed the parameters of the thief's design!

Mahad: Look at the miniatures! The grey paint is dissolving entirely! Their life bars are refilling to maximum baseline parameters!

Act VIII: The Purging of the Board

(Inside the mirror, the colossal holographic image of Demon King Zooku violently fractures into large chunks of digital glass, its dark roar completely swallowed by the explosive expansion of the Pharaoh's light. The souls of Jounouchi, Honda, and Anzu lift away from the tiny pewter tokens, snapping instantly back into their physical bodies slumped around the real table.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): (Gasping heavily for air as his eyes fly open, slamming his hands flat against his real chest) "I'm... I'm skin again! My hands aren't painted gray anymore! We're back!"

Anzu (On Screen): (Wiping cold sweat from her forehead, looking over at Yuugi) "We... we survived... Yuugi did it!"

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (Staggering backward into the dark corners of the apartment room, the golden needles of the Millennium Ring clattering wildly against his ribs as his eyes suddenly shift from a demonic glare back into the soft, tearful brown eyes of the innocent transfer student) "Ah... ah... what happened...? My chest... it hurts so much..."

(Ryou Bakura slumps over onto the carpet, completely unconscious, as the malicious shadow of the Thief King recedes back into the center eye of the golden ring.)

Aknadin: (His lone eye narrowing as he watches the white-haired boy collapse onto the floor) The parasite has retreated into the gold. It realized that to press the confrontation against the fully awakened Pharaoh in that localized state would mean the total destruction of its current anchor.

Kisara: (Softly, her hand dropping from the smooth glass frame of the mirror) The poor child... he is completely oblivious to the demonic relic he carries. He will wake up believing it was nothing more than a terrible nightmare during a game.

Priest Set: (Turning away from the mirror, his white robes billowing as he crosses his arms with deep, grim contemplation) He will wake up, but the threat is far from finished. The Thief King has marked the position of the Puzzle. He knows our king is vulnerable when separated from his historical throne. This modern tabletop battle was merely a scouting skirmish.

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Standing tall at the apex of the afterlife hall, his golden vestments casting a warm, protective light that completely purges the last lingering traces of Bakura's purple static from the room) The first great trials of the modern era have concluded with the absolute restoration of Ma'at. The dragon’s pride has been broken at the top of the tower, and the thief’s malice has been driven back into the gold. My son’s vessel has proven that the bond of companionship is an unbreakable shield.

Mahad: (Bowing his head deeply toward the throne) The path toward his true name remains long and treacherous, sovereign. But the light is advancing.

Chapter Text

Act I: The Defiance of the Left Arm

(Inside the mirror, the colossal holographic image of Demon King Zooku towers over the gaming table, its digital code pulsing with dark crimson energy. The player characters are cornered, their hit points completely depleted down to a razor-thin margin.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): "Despite all those attacks, he's taken little damage! That can't be! That means we have no chance of winning!"

Honda (On Screen): "Damn it! What should we do?! What a dirty trick!"

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (Laughing smoothly as his hands hover over the console) "Are you calling me a coward? But this whole game world was created by me, the master. I am the law! The ruler! God! The least you guys can do is perform well when you die!"

Shada: (Stepping closer to the mirror, his ancient eyes widening as he reads the spiritual currents) The thief has integrated his ka completely into the electronic array. He has established himself as the absolute arbiter of their reality.

Aknadin: (Narrowing his single eye) He relies on numbers and absolute control, yet he forgets that every machine is built upon a foundation of finite design. Look closely at the boy’s physical form. The vessel's original soul is waking up.

(On screen, Yami Bakura’s left hand suddenly begins to twitch violently against his command, snapping toward the computer keyboard and typing rapidly.)

Yami Bakura (On Screen): "What is going on?! My left hand is hitting the keys on its own!"

(The monitor screen flashes brightly, displaying a string of text typed from within the system core: "I am Bakura Ryou. I won't let you kill my friends. I will fight too!")

Mana: (Clapping her hands together, a brilliant spark of excitement in her eyes) It's the regular boy! He's using the connection between his physical body and the game piece to sabotage the dark spirit from the inside!

Mahad: Yes, Mana. Because the Thief King shares a single physical form with the child, any structural damage to the avatar in the game fractures his total authority over the host. The wound on Zooku’s left arm has opened a passage for the boy's will to manifest.

Act II: The White Mage of the Grid

(The Pharaoh stands entirely steady at the table, his sharp eyes identifying the shifting parameters of the board. Anzu’s figurine is illuminated by a sudden, surging option window.)

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "At any rate, raising everyone's hit points comes first. To do that, I need to use Anzu's restoration magic. On the next turn, sorceress Anzu can act!"

Yami Bakura (On Screen): "But Zooku can act at the same time! In this situation, we decide who goes first by using the dice! We both roll dice, and the one closer to 00 goes first!"

Priest Set: (A cold, confident smirk playing on his lips) Let him cast his dice. He believes his 'Mind Dice' are infallible because they carry the weight of defeated souls. But he fails to realize that the spirit of the young vessel has already replaced them.

(The dice tumble flatly across the table. Yami Bakura’s dice stop on a massive fumble, while the Pharaoh's dice land directly on a perfect alignment.)

Yami Bakura (On Screen): "What?! That can't be! These dice aren't the Mind Dice! Just where did the Mind Dice disappear to? This damn left hand... he cursed the Mind Dice!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "The dice don't lie, Bakura. The sorceress goes first. Spell: Donor!"

(A magnificent wave of pure, restorative light surges from Anzu’s miniature, instantly replenishing the party’s vital reserves. At the same time, the Pharaoh channels his hand power directly through his miniature beast tamer. The light pierces Zooku's fractured arm, drawing forth a glowing, porcelain-white figure from the darkness.)

White Mage Bakura (On Screen): "Thanks, everyone! You got me out! I am white mage Bakura. I really want to join you guys!"

Isis: (Her voice soft and melodic, her golden necklace emitting a warm, serene radiance) The layout has completely inverted. By drawing the child’s pure essence out of the shadow beast, they have introduced a direct virus into the dark king’s defensive protocol. Zooku’s armor is melting away.

Karim: The thief thought he could isolate the Pharaoh's allies, but he has instead allowed his own domain to be thoroughly infiltrated from within. The final counter-offensive begins now.

Act III: The Destruction of Zooku Castle

(Inside the mirror, the gaming chamber begins to collapse under the pressure of the combined player turn. Jounouchi, Honda, Anzu, and White Mage Bakura stand in perfect, unified alignment, their weapons crackling with localized white héká.)

Yami Bakura (On Screen): (Screaming in agony as his dark data parameters begin to disintegrate into pixels) "I can't believe Bakura Ryou, whom I trapped inside me, has appeared in the game world! This forces me to use my last resort! I'll show you low-level guys that you cannot beat the master!"

The Pharaoh (On Screen): "This game is already over, Bakura! Your 'mastery' was nothing more than an illusion built on fear. When hearts are truly linked as one, no algorithm can dictate our defeat! Go, everyone! Combine your strength into a single blow!"

(With a thunderous, cataclysmic roar, the combined attacks of the party strike Demon King Zooku directly in its core. The digital fortress shatters like brittle glass, and the overwhelming wave of pure white light entirely floods the screen, purging the crimson fog from the apartment room.)

Shimon Muran: (Stroking his long white beard as the intense glare from the mirror subsides) The dark grid has been utterly obliterated. The parameters of the shadow game have collapsed, and the souls of the living have been cleanly severed from their pewter anchors.

Kisara: (Stepping beside Priest Set, looking down with deep compassion at the screen) Look at the poor boy... the malevolent spirit has fully withdrawn back into the golden eye of the Ring. He is free, if only for a short while.

Act IV: The Proof of Everlasting Trust

(The scene inside the celestial mirror shifts to the quiet aftermath of the apartment. Jounouchi, Honda, Anzu, and Ryou Bakura are sitting safely around the regular wooden table, smiling and laughing under the warm morning sun as they look at their regular plastic game pieces.)

Jounouchi (On Screen): "Man, that was the wildest game I've ever played! For a second there, I seriously thought we were toast!"

Anzu (On Screen): (Smiling warmly as she holds up her figurine) "It's just as Bakura-kun said. It's the proof of our friendship. Proof of our trust in each other, our everlasting bond!"

Regular Yuugi (On Screen): (Nodding happily alongside them) "Yeah! Jounouchi, Honda, Anzu... and Bakura-kun too. It will never change. This is the memorial to the day when we forged the bonds of this friendship!"

Pharaoh Aknamkanon: (Standing tall at the absolute center of the afterlife pavilion, his magnificent golden robes radiating a deep, eternal peace) The first grand chapter of the modern shadow games concludes here. The young vessel and his companions have successfully guarded the threshold of the modern world against the initial strike of the dark relics.

Priest Set: (Turning away from the glass frame, his white cape rustling as he folds his arms with sharp, military precision) They have won this skirmish, Pharaoh. But the Millennium Ring remains active in that timeline. The thief has tasted the power of the vessel's unity, and he will undoubtedly return with a far deadlier strategy.

Mahad: Let him come, Priest Set. The light of the sovereign is growing brighter with every trial. As long as the companions stand arm in arm, the dark realm cannot prevail.

(The grand celestial mirror slowly darkens into a deep, peaceful indigo, its swirling starfields settling into a quiet, watchful rest as the first great era of the modern shadows safely seals its gates.)
