Leadership Responsibilities

Summary:

Kouichirou does what any good leader should do: he brings snacks

Notes:

Written for the recent drabblethon over at the Toku100challenge community on Dreamwidth. The prompt I used was "a quick snack"

I'm doing (yet another) rewatch of Megaranger right now, so my head is full of fun fic ideas. I love this team!

Work Text:

“Nutrition is important,” Kouichirou says, placing a bag on the clubroom table. “We may need extra energy if another monster appears.”

Kenta's eyes light up, digging in to see what's inside.

“There are more than just granola bars in here, right?” Miku asks. “Please tell me there's chocolate.”

“Granola bars are good for you,” he mutters even though he did include some not-so-healthy snacks in there too.

Shun tries to stake a claim on an onigiri that Kenta also has his sights on, and they immediately start arguing. But Kouichirou planned for this scenario and offers up an identical onigiri they hadn't noticed yet from the bottom of the bag.

Disaster averted.

“Thanks for the food,” Chisato says, opening up some chips. She hands him his favorite kind of granola bar and gestures for him to sit too.

Kouichirou settles into the empty chair, enjoying the conversation as they eat. It feels nice to be able to take care of his team. What kind of leader would he be if he couldn't?

“Kenta, did you finish today's math homework?”

“We had math homework?!” Kenta exclaims through a mouthful of rice.

Kouichirou sighs. The job of a leader is never finished.
