Chapter Text
Two weeks had passed since Vox almost annihilated half of Pentagram City, including almost all of the Overlords, the princess of Hell, as well as a high-ranking Angel, just to kill his self-proclaimed arch enemy, the Radio Demon Alastor. No one could have thought that of all people to stop him from firing the might of Lilith, it would be Voxes business associates, Velvette and Valentino. Yet here they were, with Val being made the new CEO of Voxtech, while Velvette continued in her duties, making sure that the Vees were still perceived in a positive light, which proved exceptionally difficult.
First off, people were out for blood. As of right now, Vox was the most hated man in hell, and there was more than just one attempt of some wannabe assassins that broke into their tower to finish the job, that had to be dealt with. Usually, they ended up dead and being harvested for materials which Velvette would use for her latest designs.
Second of all, people loved to gossip. This resulted in needing to delegate more of her time scouring Sinstergram for any threads that would put the Vees as a whole into a bad light. Of course, she made no attempts to save Voxes already crumbling image, but she could at least run damage control for her and Val.
Speaking of the devil, the third reason that made Velvette’s afterlife even more difficult was moth himself. Ever since he became the new face of Veetech, the new name they came up with to distance themselves from Vox, he has become increasingly irritating. He no longer sugarcoated anything, if he wanted something, he took it, be it any items of value or actual people. There was more than one incident where Velvette actually had to step in to save one of her models from Vals porn studio, and it was starting to get on her nerves.
As of right now, Velvette was sat in her personal designing studio, desperately hoping for a stroke of information to cross her mind. Lately, being the top designer bored her almost to death, with many of her designs not meeting her personal standards. That doesn’t mean that the general populace of hell still gobbled up whatever she came up with. With the way things are going right now, Velvette could throw scraps of clothing on one of her models and call it a day, which really upset her for some reason.
In her mind, her designs were not suited for the average Sinner, but for something more special. Something more, let’s say royal. Yeah, Velvette imagined how some of her designs would look like on some of the Goetic demons. Being the top designer was one thing, but being the personal designer for the Ars Goetia had to be the biggest accomplishment any designer could hope for. Well, there was still the designer for Lucifer himself, but Velvette figured that deal was already out the window after everything that happened.
Velvette was so consumed in her daydreams, that she forgot she was still sketching, and when she moved her hand to the side, she spilled the coffee that her assistant, Melissa, had previously brought up to her room. Velvette hissed in pain as the scalding drink spilled all over her, but her main concern was making sure her sketches survived the spill. Luckily enough she just pulled them out of the way just in time.
“Melissa, Get the fuck in here right now and clean this fuckin mess!” Velvette screamed as she put her sketchbook down on another table.
Velvette scrambled back to the table, trying to assess how much damage the spill actually did. There were a couple of sketches that were soaked in coffee, and a couple of fabric sample also took a hit, which she definitely had to replace now. Wondering where the fuck Melissa was scurrying around, Velvette opened the door, before shouting again.
“Melissa, where the fuck are you!” She screamed again, but Velvette quickly realized that Melissa was not at her designated post.
Now royally pissed about her assistant missing, Velvette marched into the regular design studio, scanning the crowd from above to see if she could find Melissa. When she couldn’t see her, Velvette opted to get all of her workers attention.
“Okay ya twats, listen the fuck up! Somebody is going to tell me where the fuck Melissa is hiding, otherwise I will make sure the next time any of you see the walkway you’ll be part of the fucking collection!” As if to reinforce her threat, Velvette’s phone started to glow purple, as multiple constructs shaped like knives shot out, levitating menacingly behind her.
One of the models presumably a newer one from the shaky voice stepped forwards. “I-I think Travis came by earlier a-and took her with him, Miss Velvette” she muttered.
Velvette gave her a hard look, trying to see if the model was hiding something else, but after a full minute, she decided that the girl wouldn’t know anything else of value. With a heavy sigh, she turned around, making her way to the elevator. “Everyone back to work, we got a bloody show coming up, and Satan be damned if anything isn’t up to date, I’m going to tear all your heads off!”
Stepping into the elevator, Velvette pinched her nose and groaned. She had a good guess what Val planned, and the fact that he sent his co-director to retrieve Melissa did not bode well for her. If it had been any other model, Velvette wouldn’t even give a shit, but with her personal assistant, it was a whole other story. She trained that bitch for a couple of years now, and by now, Melissa could read Overlord like a book, making her an invaluable asset to Velvette.
The elevator finally arrived at the film studios, and as Velvette got out, her nostrils were immediately assaulted with smell consisting of sweat and Pheromones. Apparently, since Vox’s failed gala, Val had his stars work around the clock, making sure there were always at least two of his films in production.
Ignoring the smells and looks of the broken Sinners around her, she stormed through the studio, in hopes of finding Val anywhere. But alas, luck was not on Velvette’s side, and she could not find the fucking moth anywhere. She even checked Angel’s personal room, in hopes of Val being here, but it seems that Angel got the day off, probably just cause he’s Val’s favorite.
After searching for a couple of minutes, Velvette finally found Travis, who was in the middle of directing a shot. He was focused on the script in his hands, which was the reason why he did not realize one of his bosses was approaching, until the script was snatched from his hands “Hey, what the-” was all he got out before he realized who these glowing red eyes belonged to.
“Where. The Fuck. Is HE?!” First her voice was quiet, threatening, but Velvette’s voice quickly grew louder, shouting the co-director into submission.
The actors around the pair wisely backed up, not wanting to be caught in the crossfire of what was about to go down. Travis gulped, he was used to Valentino’s outbursts, but this had to be the first time one of the other Vees was pissed at him, and it had to be Velvette of all people too.
“He’s in his new office, you know, Vox’s former one?” He stuttered out, trying to bury himself further into his chair.
“I swear to Satan, if I go in there, and he’s not here, I’ll make sure ya know how it feels if someone plucks your feathers one by one, before being skinned alive!” She whispered, a threat so effective that it made Travis shudder. “And send Melissa back to my department, otherwise I’ll burn the whole set to the ground!”
Velvette left the set, and Travis breathed a sigh of relief. He knew that taking Velvette’s assistant without the Overlords consent was fucking suicide, but Val wanted her specifically, so what was he supposed to do? “Send Melissa back down. Bring in Bruno and Destiny, we’ll start with them instead. And if one word gets out to Val about this, I’ll have your heads!” He finally decided, planning another shot instead.
Velvette left the movie set behind and the room around her started to change color. The red and pink were replaced with shades of blue, indicating that she now had arrived in Vox’s part of the tower. The walls gave away to aquariums, with surprisingly much sea life being held, with a variety of sharks being the most abundant species. Usually the sights of the aquarium would cool Velvette down and give her new inspirations for designs, but today she barely stopped to take a look into the waters around her.
Arriving at Vox’s office, she didn’t even bother to knock, and proceeded to kick the door open with such a fore that the walls around the doors cracked. Inside the office, nothing much had changed, with one key detail being different. Usually the shark tank behind the desk was completely open to view, but as for now, a screen was mounted on the glass, cables connecting it to either side of the walls. A regular Sinner would think that this was a a normal TV, but when it booted up, it quickly became apparent that this screen was non other than the disembodied head of Vox himself. Beneath Vox, Valentino was seated looking as smug as always, if not even more so than usual.
“Ah, Babydoll, what brings you here today? Got some new potions that need testing, or a new outfit for my latest masterpiece?” Val asked nonchalantly.
Velvette walked up to the desk and slammed her hands down. “Nothing of the sorts, dipshit. I’m here to tell ya that ya should leave my fucking models out of your filthy studios!”
“But why, they could make it big with my help, especially that little assistant of yours, Melanie was her name right?” Val smirked slightly, obviously trying to bait Velvette into further rage.
Unfortunately, she saw right through his attempts and did not play around. “Melissa, and these whores don’t need to be famous, they just need to wear the stuff that I’m producing and look good while doing it!”
“You know this whole shitshow would not happen, if I was still in charge, right?” Vox muttered sarcastically from behind Valentino.
“Shut the fuck up back there, no one was talking to you! Who unmuted you anyways?” Velvette asked, tired from Vox’s shit.
“Why would you mute him? It’s fun to hear him beg to leave him alone, especially when he’s all broody like that!” Valentino interjected.
“Please don’t remind me of the stuff you force me to do” Vox groaned, clearly disgusted by whatever Val came up with for him.
Velvette just gagged, before talking again. “I don’t want nor need to listen what you two get up to in bed, so both of you just shut up right fuckin now!” she then turned to Valentino. “Now send back Melissa from whatever you have her doing, and mute the flat faced fuck behind you, and we can all be on our merry way again!”
Valentino looked like he was in deep thought about the demands, which looked weird in Velvette’s opinion, before he answered. “No, I don’t think I’ll do that.”
Velvette narrowed her eyes. “Excuse me, the fuck you mean “No”? She’s my assistant, ya can’t just take her whenever the fuck ya want, ya twat!”
Valentino looked like he was about to respond, but Vox beat him to it. “You know, he actually can do exactly that, it’s literally stated in our contract.”
“The fuck you mean he can do that?! I know that fuckin contract like the back of my hand, there is no clause that allows Val here to take control of my assets!” Velvette screamed, summoning a copy of her contract.
“Yeah, it doesn’t mention Val by name, but as the current acting CEO of Voxtech, he can allocate resources of the company as he sees fit. There just wasn’t any need for me to do that stuff at all. And honestly, I expected to use it on Val for the first time.”
“Wait, what’s that supposed to mean, tu estúpido cara de mierda?!” Valentino screamed at Vox.
“Well duh, why do ya think I constantly have to run damage control after every little stunt you pull?” Velvette muttered, and Val looked back at her. “Every time ya decide to beat up your boytoy, it hurts PR, and I have to come and clean up ya mess!”
“See even Velvette agrees with me! Sometimes you can be a bit too rough on your toys, and I wrote that clause in just in case you almost break any of your souls.” Vox explained.
Valentino looked back and forth between Vox and Velvette, not believing his ears. “You guys think I can’t be trusted? Guess what imbéciles, I have control for now, which means you” he pointed at Velvette. “Will not get your whore back for now, until she is done with her current shoot. And you,” now he pointed at Vox. “Are technically property of VeeTech, hence the only thing you get to do now is advising me!”
“The fuck is wrong with ya Val, are going off the deep end now?! I swear to Satan if I don’t get Melissa right now, I’ll… I” Velvette could not think of any threat that would work on Val.
Valentino on the other hand just had a smug smile on his lips. “What are you going to do, hmm? Knit me some embarrassing sweaters, shame me online? There is nothing you can do puta!”
Velvette was seething. Purple lighting crackled around her fingertips; the phone squeezed tightly in her hand cracked as it was overloaded with her power. Her hair started to float messily as she desperately tried to get a hold of herself, but all was for nigh, as the lifted her phone in the direction of Val, an assortment of knifes being conjured all around her.
Yet she was outmatched by the speed at which Val moved, who in return pointed one of his guns right between Velvette’s eyes, finger softly brushing against the trigger, seemingly waiting for an excuse to press down. “Vamos, pruébalo!” he taunted, not for one second letting Velvette out of his eyes.
Velvette weighed her options on ifcould win this fight, but the odds were unfortunately in Valentino’s favor. Even if he’s a blind fuck, he has surprisingly good aim with his guns, and with her standing point blank, she’d have no chance of dodging that bullet. So, Velvette chose reason and slightly lowered her still glowing phone, but did not let the knives disappear, just as a precaution.
“buena chica. Now that I actually think about it, I might need another couple of your models soon, there might be some other important shoots I need to do, and the actors need to look like fresh meat.” Valentino goaded once more.
“Okay, fuck that, I’m done!” Velvette screamed, and she snapped her fingers.
In an instant, the knives set into motion. Val lifted his gun, but the knives were not going for him. Instead, Velvette threw up her contract into the air, and the knives proceeded to cut it into a million pieces, making it unrecognizable as the foundation for their partnership.
“FUCK YES!!! I actually can’t believe you idiots fell for that shit.” Vox shouted, clearly ecstatic about something.
“The fuck are you on about, ya flat faced fuck?” Velvette questioned, somewhat confused and small sense of dread building up in her chest.
“I added a clause that would make me gain all Vee owned assets in case we ever decided to break up, the only reason I didn’t use it earlier is because you two fuckers were playing ball. Well guess what, not anymore, and now I should be more powerful than before.” Vox laughed, clearly enjoying his newfound power.
Velvette felt sick. All she ever worked for gone in an instance, just cause her supposed partners were dicks and tried to steal what was supposed to be hers. Then, that feeling of sickness slowly turned into red hot boiling anger. Anger at Val for riling her up and daring to take away her assistant, anger at Vox for his deception and betrayal of their friendship, but mostly she felt angry with herself for not being able to see Valentino’s and Vox’s true colors before. She was always blinded by the powers they, as a trio, had amassed, and truly believed that they would never betray one another.
“Uhh, Voxxy, can you show me where it states that you become the new owner of all former Vee assets?” Valentino asked, somewhat confused.
“Here at the end it states; “Should all associates of this current partnership agree to the disbandment, all assets will be put together and will go to the current residing CEO of Voxtech.” Pretty clear to me, isn’t it?” Vox said as Val laid down the contract for ll three of them to see.
“Except you are not mentioned by name. The contract clearly states that the CEO of Voxtech gains all assets, not that you gain all assets.” Val reminded Vox.
“Oh my fuckin god, you fucked up on a technicality AGAIN?! How the fuck can someone be so daft to not remember the words written in his own fuckin contract?” Velvette didn’t know if she should laugh or cry at Vox’s stupidity. First he fucks up contract he made with the Radio Demon by laying hands on the princess, and now he forgot that he was not currently the residing CEO of the company.
“Wha- these are just semantics, obviously the contract indicates me as the one to get all assets.” Vox argued.
“No, you literally wrote “the CEO of Voxtech” which currently is Val. Can’t believe I fuckin worked with someone so stupid that they didn’t read their own fuckin contract properly!” Velvette cursed as she got up and left the room.
“Does that mean I am in charge now?” Val asked confused, not being able to follow what just had transpired.
Vox groaned, hoping that whatever happens from now on would turn in his favor. But with Val as the absolute CEO and Velvette out of the picture to run damage control, the odds looked bleak in his opinion.
