Chapter Text
"It all comes down to conditionary states," Loki said, gesturing helplessly with his hands.
"YOU ARE A CONDITIONARY STATE!" Hél yelled. "It's all unfalsifiable. It's all unfalsifiable."
On and on she babbled, a broken record on repeat for all time until, just as suddenly, she took a deep breath. Slowly, resentfully, she let out a shaky exhale. The obvious had hit her with the subtlety one might expect having a trickster god as one's actual father.
"You are love," she said.
The understanding that love, consciousness, her shapeshifting and shitty dad, that was the underlying condition of existence. Love, betwixt and between, defined by physics.
Love was the DNA built literally into the universe, and Asgard, and Hel, and Garmr's drool: warm, slimy and viscous, and as dear as Hél's own tears, streaming down her face.
Hél wept.
