Chapter Text
I hate the rain.
No, sorry, not the rain itself. The rainy days, I’ve always disliked them. Not because of the lack of sun or the cold, but rather because how it messes up plans, makes things harder than it needs to be, holds us back, and is just a pain to deal with. One rainy day and my week is ruined. I try not let it get to me, how can the weather affect me? It doesn’t. Just like how it doesn’t affect me when another remark about my age is made when they think I can’t hear them, like how they look at me when I don’t look at them in the eyes. it’s nothing on the surface. The rain will stop the next morning, and sun will come out again.
Not like sun makes it any better. But it’s good knowing it’s there. I’d say sunny days are more peaceful than rainy ones.
….
“Ah.” I leaned back against the chair, realizing I zoned out yet again. I stared at the stack of whatever papers Germany brought last week. I should probably check them out. Speaking of Commander, I don’t think he’s around. At least on this floor..
I reached out to one on the top.
“GALLIPOLI—1915.”
Huh. These are old. Why would he bring them just now? I was confused for a moment, I held the paper closer to my face. ..as of that did something.
Ottoman must’ve sighted the way I examined the paper. I don’t have the memory of him even being in this area, but I definitely noticed when he called out my name.
“Bulgaria.” He spoke carefully. “What are those?” He stepped closer to the desk.
I turned the page around to show it to Ottoman. He examined it for a second before snatching it out of my hands.
“Who brought them here?”
“German empire.”
“When?”
“I think last week. I’m not sure if these are for me to report back, he left them here though.”
Ottoman let out a sigh of both exhaustion and frustration. “Do you know how old these are? This should’ve been reported back before you were in the alliance.”
I shrugged. “..not sure.”
I watched as he grabbed another one.
Strange, I thought to myself. Commander must’ve mixed something’s up, then.
…great. That means more stuff to re organize. A sharp exhale left me —not intentionally— but I darted my gaze to the ground below me just in time.
I noticed the way Ottoman seemed to pause, as if realizing something. Then he spoke up.
“…Bulgaria.” He said my name again, suspicious this time. “I recognize these. We have seen them before. Germany probably only brought unfilled copies for himself.”
I blinked before looking up at Ottoman. “…oh. I was never aware of that. Why would he do that?”
“To see what we did wrong.”
“Didn’t the Gallipoli campaign fail?”
“You know very well it did.”
Ottoman has a habit of seeing the empty side of the cup.
“..then it should be to see what we did right and wrong.”
“Touché.”
“But seriously, the performance was inspiring—“
“I don’t need to hear it, kid.”
I hate being called that.
Ottoman Empire stepped back. “Notify me if Germany comes back here.” Then he leaves. The door clicks shut, and I stare back at the supposedly old reports. They’re nothing special. Only talking about the war’s situation and Central Powers frontlines.
I’m not easy to get a reaction out of, but I get annoyed when people I’m with keep messing things up. I’m not perfect, I know that. I also mess up sometimes. But.. I think I have disciplines, manners, know when and how to disappear at certain situations. Yet nations who bring nothing to the table other than meaningless casualties just annoy me. Silently, though. I would never let anyone know that. And I feel bad because what if it’s not their fault? Everyone deserves allies and people they can rely on.
I can’t speak bad about anyone. Ego kills. I’ve seen it.
I flip through the papers mainly about Ottoman.
“..it’s.. not even that bad..”
That’s a lie.
I try to be the person that sees the full side of the cup, because at the end of the day what happened, happened already.
I can hear Ottoman rambling to himself. He does this a lot. And I can’t fucking stand it.
But I won’t say anything. Sometimes it’s better to keep the peace rather than having to speak at all.
But I hate the rain.
