Work Text:
Ryoo stared at her sister. “Here? He’s coming here?”
“He helped save the galaxy, Ryoo,” Pooja said. “And it’s Uncle Ani.”
“Pooja, little petal, he’s done a lot of things since he was the Uncle Ani who made us laugh.”
“I told you about the flowers he sent the Emperor, right? I’m almost surprised I didn’t recognize him then.”
“Speaking of the flowers, have I not mentioned that work is stressful right now? The last thing I need is…”
Pooja waited for her sister to draw the obvious conclusion.
“Oh no.”
“I have to admit, I’m jealous I won’t be there in person to see it. You never saw him in full Darth Vader mode. He can be quite intimidating.”
“You’re telling me that Uncle Ani is coming to terrorize my bosses because I told you that they’ve been reluctant to fund me now that we’re less necessary to run cover for the Rebellion. And you told Uncle Ani.”
“I’m glad to see we’re calling him ‘Uncle Ani’ again. But why would he terrorize anyone? Why wouldn’t he visit his beloved niece at work to reconnect? Especially since Mother and Grandmother and Grandfather are still having a hard time thinking of greeting him.”
Ryoo hated that this was how Uncle Ani seemed to be trying to get back into her good graces. She hated even more that it was working already. “This is going to be worse than the time he taught Governor Bibble’s protocol droid how to speak with him in Huttese so everyone thought he was a gangster or something, isn’t it.”
Pooja’s eyes brightened. “It’s going to be better. Here, would you mind recording for me? Leia especially asked, and you know you want to get off on the right foot with our cousin. She’s delightful.”
