The shenanigans start when Riki pulls out his phone at dinner, showing off the Spiderman research he had done on the way home. Everyone can see it's a random fan page about Spiderman, a massive column about abilities the superhero had. Sunoo groans into his rice bowl, scowling when Riki wiggles his eyebrows at him.
“Hyung! Just imagine if you had all these powers!”
Sunoo shook his head, rolling his eyes at Riki. “I don't want super powers Riki, I just want to be normal.”
“Well normal went out the door when you got bitten by that funky spider.” Jake waved his hands in the air. “Like that spider was nasty bro!”
Sunoo shivered at the memory of that spider and the pain he had gone through. Jongseong took the phone from Riki and scrolled, humming as his eyes jumped around the screen. “Well thankfully most of these abilities are easy to hide. We've got enhanced physical physiology, so strength, jumping, reflexes, stamina, and more. We've also got regeneration, wall-crawling, a spider-sense, and a higher immunity towards diseases.” He paused, “So all things we can hide. Nothing physical like fangs or multiple legs.”
“Thank god. I couldn't take it if I grew legs. How the hell would we have hid that?”
Jungwon sighed, rubbing his eyes. “We wouldn't. Now Sunoo hyung, I know you're uncomfortable so I won't push this matter but if you feel something is different or you experience anything from this list, then I want you to tell me. I don't want us to be surprised if you suddenly jump seventy feet into the air in front of the fans.”
Sunghoon snickered, “I bet Sunoo will accidentally smack Riki on the shoulder and send him flying.”
The group laughed while Riki pouted, huffing and crossing his arms. Heeseung snorted, ruffling Riki's hair. “You better not tease Sunoo in front of the fans for now, just in case. We can't help it if you go flying and the fans start calling you weak.”
Sunoo giggled, leaning his head against Riki's shoulder. “I'll do my best to track what's going on with my body and let all of you know.”
Nobody would have guessed how wild things would get in the dorms after this.
The first incident that makes everyone stop what they're doing, is when Jake comes home with bags of food for everyone. He's a bit too excited (which is normal for the Australian) and it's no surprise that he trips over his socks. Sunoo doesn't even think, his wrist just flicks and his web sticks to Jake's back, making sure that he doesn't drop the food all over the floor. Sunoo's eyes are wide and his body tense as everyone eyes the silk connecting Jake to Sunoo, their hands stretched out as if they were gonna catch Jake.
“Holy shit.”
Someone takes the food from Jake and Sunoo somehow cuts the silk coming from his wrist, taking back the strand from Jake's back. He held the long strand of web up and sighed, his hand winding up to turn it into a ball. Riki's eyes were wide, a grin on his face as he subtly made his way to Sunoo.
He pointed to the ball of silk. “Can I have that?”
Sunoo didn't even bother to question Riki and just sighed, handing over the ball before sitting on the couch. Jongseong touched the back of Jake's shirt and whistled.
“Not a bit of residue at all.”
Jungwon patted Sunoo on the back. “Thanks for saving the food Hyung.”
Riki held up the silk ball and cheered, “That was cool Sunoo hyung. Did you guys see the way he just snatched Jake hyung? It was super fast. Does your wrist hurt?”
Sunoo shook his head, rubbing his eyes. “It's a little tingling but fine. Let's just eat so I can go to sleep.”
And if Sunoo ate a little more than usual, nobody said a word as they glanced to the ball Riki was hoarding.
It's a week later when Sunoo ends up surprising everyone again.
They're currently resting after a long day of filming. The producer had rented out a giant pension house for Enhypen to have fun and relax in and surprisingly there was minimal staff to watch over them. They've just stuffed their faces and were lazing around the living room, with Sunoo dozing off against Heeseung.
He can hear Jungwon and Jongseong having fun with the karaoke while Riki, Jake, and Sunghoon were playing with a baseball. Sunoo was so comfy as Heeseung was just warm enough to stave off the chill from the cold air coming from the air conditioner, his arms wrapped around Heeseung's arm as he played a video game on his phone.
Suddenly Sunoo's senses go off, a pounding sensation against his mind and then his hand moves before he can realize what's going on.
He catches the baseball just moments before it's about to hit Heeseung in the face. The impact makes his palm itchy but thankfully it doesn't hurt. The room goes quiet as Sunoo's eyes flutter open, yawning as he throws the ball back at Sunghoon. “Watch where you're throwing that.”
Heeseung is clearly taken aback but he smiles at Sunoo, ruffling his hair and chuckling at the whines Sunoo gives him. “Thanks for the save Sunny.”
Sunoo preens as Jake wiggles his eyebrows at Sunoo. “That was such a cool catch Sunoo. How did you know?”
“It was like a mini bomb going off in my mind and my hand moved without thinking.”
Jungwon hummed. “Well I'm glad you caught that ball Hyung. The rest of you need to watch out. We don't need any injuries out here.”
“Yes sir.” Everyone agreed with Jungwon's words. Sunghoon ditched the ball and instead grabbed a pool cue, motioning the others to join him in playing pool. Riki eyed Sunoo as he snuggled up to their eldest hyung before leaning towards Jake and Sunghoon.
“I'm almost tempted to throw something Sunoo hyung's way to see if he'll catch it.”
Jongseong snorted as he grabbed a pool cue, squeezing his way in between Riki and Sunghoon. “Don't you dare. You'll piss off both Jungwon and Heeseung hyung and I wouldn't test Sunoo's new strength right now. I don't need the staff running in here after hearing you scream in pain because you decided to annoy Sunoo.”
Riki paused, “Yeah, you're right.” He really didn't want Sunoo to turn him into a pretzel in front of the group. But maybe later in private he could wrestle Sunoo and see how strong he really was.
The next incident that really changes everyone's perspective on Sunoo's newfound powers is when they're leaving a meeting, having met a new possible manager in training. The company was debating on whether they should let Yuki hyung take the new manager under his wing, with Jungwon liking the calm personality of the new manager, making a big influence on the group. The others didn't mind the new possible manager, knowing Yuki needed support on some of their busiest days.
But then Sunoo shakes his head, biting his lip as he finally tells the group exactly what he's thinking and feeling.
“I don't trust him. I don't like the way he moves.” He sighs, running his hand through his hair. “He's not triggering my senses completely but I can't help but be on edge when he's near me.”
The group grew quiet, their eyes growing cold at the thought of Sunoo not feeling comfortable. They would never do anything to make Sunoo or any member feel uncomfortable.
“Do you think he's dangerous?” Heeseung was serious, his eyes narrowed at Sunoo. Sunoo hesitated, making Heeseung prod a little more. “Is he triggering your fight or flight senses Sunoo?”
Sunoo's eyes darkened. “He's triggering something and I don't like it. If I needed to I know I could take him in a fight but I don't want to escalate and use violence. He just really puts me on edge.” Heeseung pursed his lips at Sunoo's words, crossing his arms.
“That decides it. Jungwon, tell Yuki hyung that we won't hire that manager and that the company should take a closer look at his background.”
The members stayed silent as Jungwon made the call. Sunoo rubbed his face as he tried to calm down, flinching as he felt someone sit beside him. He peeked behind his fingers to see Jake, boasting a giant grin.
“I was so ready to see a macho Sunoo whoop ass. I guess I'll have to wait until next time.”
They all bursted out into laughter at the thought of Sunoo with big boxing gloves on, a sharp look on his face as he beat someone up. Sunoo knows they're just joking but the way that Jungwon hangs up with a wry smile on his face, Sunoo can actually feel his body relaxing. The problem ends with Yuki taking a different person under his wing, one that doesn't make Sunoo want to be on guard.
(Jungwon doesn't mention to the group the news that the manager in training Sunoo had rejected had tried to sexually harass another idol and only got caught because that idol fought back. He only tells Heeseung, who just shakes his head)
Slowly the members get used to Sunoo's weird abilities, even Sunoo. He gets used to the enhanced strength and agility and even the way he heals now is different. The moment that his powers aren't weird and are useful, comes up when Jongseong goes up to Sunoo and before he knows it, Sunoo was on the ceiling, helping his hyung clean.
“That's it! Dust a little harder and I'll sweep down here.”
Sunoo sighed, slowly crawling across the ceiling while his hand was vigorously dusting. Of course he would be the perfect person for Jongseong to recruit in cleaning. Sunoo could pick up couches, tvs, counters, and help clean the walls and ceilings as well. Jongseong was lucky that he was Sunoo's favorite hyung or else he would have charged for helping out.
Sunoo finished up with the ceiling, glancing down to see Riki snapping pictures of him. He frowned, throwing his dust rag at Riki, while looking around to have Jongseong around to tell Riki off for Sunoo.
“Excuse you! What do you think you're doing? Didn't I tell you no pictures when I'm doing this kind of shit?”
Riki shrugged his shoulders, pocketing his phone. “I was only sending pictures in the group chat. You can even check later.” He paused, eyeing Sunoo before coughing into his hand. “Do you think you could hold someone up there with you?”
Sunoo hummed, holding out a hand. “Let's find out.”
When Jongseong came back from rinsing his mop, he could only snort at the sight of Sunoo and Riki hanging upside down from the ceiling. He raised his hand to call out to them. “I'm all done. Don't stay up there all day.”
They gave Jongseong a thumbs up and went back to hanging around, leaving Jongseong to quickly take a picture of them before heading out for his dorm room. And if anyone asked, all they had to do was look up.
