I can too much

Summary:

Nightmares are scary
Thank God he has a brave knight who can deal with then

Notes:

Not me saying that we should read comfort no hurt before going to sleep and then proceeding to read 'I have no mouth and I must scream' + writing a hurt/comfort fic (though Im not 100% if it were true one but everywhere I checked it looked the same so I'm assuming it is)
anyway yeah uh oops

Also sorry I know I usually don't write these with hurt but I feel it's slightly better when added a nightmare
I hope it won't uhh like badly influence on this series idk
Testing the waters ig
Lmk if it was too harsh or if it's better without hurt, I will probably remove the fic from the series though
(Also sorry for big yap I'm stopping now!! Enjoy!)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Unsettling wind whistled around him, it was quiet but loud enough to make you feel like you're imaginating it, it was present, alive.

He could feel something staring but he was alone, at least he hoped so 'cause being alone is better than thinking you're alone.

Something moved, the air was tense and it was hard to breathe. Impossible to breathe. He should just breathe in but it was as if there was nothing to breathe. Then he saw it, he saw—

Wall. Wooden wall, Avery was back in his room. What did he see? It was... did he forget already? He could vision the picture for a fraction of second before he forgot it and that was awful. Knowing you're terrified of something but just can't remember what, you can still feel the presance but not enough to know how to stop it.

Pressure rised within him as the heart banged against his ribs so uncomfortably and harshly. Every beat felt like a torture and every breath seemed too big yet he didn't even feel the breathing.

It felt as if his body was trying to fight off something that wasn't even there. It was too loud, too hot, too cold, too small, too much sensation, too much. It was just too everything.

But it was just a nightmare, why was it hurting him so much, he wasn't weak. Should he get up and go ask... No waking him up over a nightmare he can't even remember is stupid. He wouldn't want to worry other with nonsense. He won't even know this happened.

Expect he was standing right on the door of Avery's room. There wasn't much to see expect a figure coming closer and sitting next to him on the bed, he could feel arms wrap around him giving out warmth and comfort. Automatically he leaned towards the safety, leaning against D3rlord3s chest.

Breathing didn't feel as painful as before and his heart didn't seem to try ripping itself apart anymore, he didn't even notice how breathing pattern started to follow D3rlord3's.

"Just breathe, it's okay, you're alright.", one calm and steady sentance was all it took for Avery to calm even more.

"Just a bad dream, no threats here.", he kept going.

Even though he couldn't really get his mind off the dream he was definitely trying to focus more on surroundings, the bed—soft and messy, the walls—out of his favourite wood type, the slight coldness—blocked off by warmth.

"Feeling better?"

How couldn't he.

Sleep was slipping back in and didn't give him enough energy to say something, instead he just nooded before pushing slightly more against him letting out tired huffs.

Arms never left him and as tiredness grew bigger he noticed himself being pulled back down to the bed. Looking to his right he saw D3rlord3 laying next to him, reaching out to him and moving his hand trough his hair.

"Go back to sleep, you're tired."

But he wouldn't live trough this moment if he was asleep, he didn't want to waste this.

"Avery."

Well hopefully this won't be last time so in the end he decided to snuggle closer to safety and stop forcing himself to stay awake. He didn't notice how fast he forgot about the dream as he laid next to his lover.

As everything faded back he could hear D3rlord3 murmur something but it was too quiet for him to hear though he could feel a gentle kiss land on his forehead before sleep won.

With Avery being asleep he relaxed knowing that Avery felt safe, felt safe with him.

This fic was actually based on times where I can genuenly feel my heart beating and I don't mean like "oh I can hear it and feel when I put my hand on chest" I mean I can feel it and the flesh or some shit which makes me want to pull Kris from deltarune move and throw it in a trash can or something
