Don’t Leave Me Here Alone

Summary:

After finding himself Quirkless, Midoriya Izuku still has hope for the future. As long as he is an Alpha or a Beta, he might be able to make something of himself. This hope dies when he presents as an Omega, a Quirkless Omega. Completely on his own, with no one to turn towards, Izuku grows up believing himself to be the lowest of the low. The most worthless of the worthless. But, perhaps, a single chance encounter may change everything.

Chapter 1: Quirk Examination

Chapter Text

Izuku Midoriya realized at a very young age that all men are not created equal. It was simply a fact of life.

Izuku sat in the car, looking out the window. A giant smile was on his face, and he couldn't sit still. He kept moving around, his seatbelt straining against his constant wiggling. Today was the day that he was going to find out his quirk. He was a little nervous, but his mama released a steady stream of calming beta pheromones. His head felt a little fuzzy. Izuku looked forward, and saw his mom smiling at him in the mirror. His smile widened, and he asked, excitedly, "What do you think my quirk will be, mama?"

Inko Midoriya hummed, amused, he had been asking all week, and said, "You will get a quirk that is just as special as you, izu?"

If Izuku didn't have his seatbelt on, he would have been jumping up and down. The hospital came into view, and the car pulled into the parking lot. Inko turned into a spot, and parked the car. She unbuckled her seatbelt, and opened the car door. She closed the door with a thud, a soft humming escaping her lips. Inko walked around the car, a skip in her step, and helped Izuku out of the car. Izuku jumped out of Inko's arms, and grabbed her hand, pulling her towards the hospital. An amused expression appeared on Inko's face as she follow closely behind her son. He pulled open the door, and ran inside. They walked up to the counter, and Inko said, "Izuku Midoriya for 2:30."

The lady behind the counter typed away at her computer, and asked, not looking up, "Quirk Examination?"

Izuku excitedly nodded his head, and the lady said, talking around the chewing gum in her mouth, "Have a seat in the waiting area. Dr. Tsubasa will be with you shortly."

Inko lead Izuku over to the sitting room, and they sat down. After waiting for, to Izuku, felt like forever, a nurse walked into the sitting room. She looked around the room, and asked, "Izuku."

Izuku turned towards the sound of his name, and the nurse smiled down at him, saying, "Follow me."

Inko stood up, and they both followed the nurse. The walls in the hall were pure white and made Izuku's eyes hurt. He rubbed at his eyes, and Inko looked down at him in concern. He brought his hands to his sides, and smiled up at her. The nurse stopped at a door, and opened it, allowing them inside. Izuku ran in, and sat down in the chair. Calming Beta pheromones seemed to be being pumped in through the vents, and Izuku melted into the chair. His excitement turned into a distant hum that he could barely feeling. It was still there, just deep below the surface. Inko sat down next to him, and looked around, sniffing the air.

"We pump calming Beta pheromones into all of our rooms," the nurse explained, "It keeps the kids from moving around too much while the doctors do their jobs."

Inko nodded, pleased with the answer. Izuku wasn't paying much attention to the conversation, content to stare at the wall. The nurse left to go get the doctor, and returned a few minutes later.

Izuku looked up, when he heard the door click open. A man walked in. He was wearing strange looking goggles on his forehead, and he had a wiry mustache. He looked to be about fifty years old. He smiled at Izuku, and said, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Izuku Midoriya. My name is Dr. Tsubasa."

Izuku nodded, and went back to staring at the wall. Inko looked closer at him, and then at the doctor. She asked, "Is is normal for children to be this affected by Beta pheromones? He seems almost…drugged."

Dr. Tsubasa pulled his goggles over his eyes, and took a closer look at Izuku. After a moment, he hummed, and said, "Beta pheromones affect everyone a little differently. Omegas, for example, are more susceptible to the affect than Alphas are. Due to the Omega being naturally more docile. However, for children who haven't presented, such as Izuku, it is a little odd for him to be so affected. But don't worry. It isn't to the level that we should be concerned. These goggles help me monitor the pheromones in a room, and I will keep them on so we will know if it becomes too much."

Inko looked over at the vent in the corner of the room, and asked, "Is there a way to limit the pheromones?"

Dr. Tsubasa shook his head, and said, "No. The vent is already on its lowest setting. We usually have to turn it up, not down. But as I already told you, I will monitor his condition throughout the examination."

Inko grew displeased but didn't comment further. Dr. Tsubasa nodded, and said, "Is there anything in his medical history that might want to be aware of."

Inko thought for a moment before saying, "A year ago, he was diagnosed with Osteopenia."

The doctor wrote down a note on the chart, and said, "That won't interfere with the examination, but it is good to know."

Dr. Tsubasa stood up from his chair, and walked over to Izuku. Izuku looked up with a slight dazed expression on his face. The doctor place a hand on Izuku's shoulder, and said, "Can you lay down on the table in the corner?"

Izuku nodded, and stood up. He slowly walked over, and laid down on the table. The table was ice cold against his skin, and it helped him regain more awareness. He looked around with clear eyes, and Inko smiled at him, pleased that her son was back. The Doctor explained, "We will start with an X-ray, and then we will do a blood test while we wait for the results."

Inko nodded, and the test began. A flat circle in the wall popped out, and stretched into a tunnel. The bottom of the circle slid easily under the table. The room fazed out as Izuku was engulfed in pitch-black darkness. He could hear to a soft beeping, and red beam of light scanned his body. It left a tingling feeling in his entire body, and Izuku skin suddenly felt numb. A different beam of light, this one blue, scanned his body as well. The beeping came back, and he could see light peeking through as the tunnel went back into the wall.

Izuku sat up, and the dizzying feeling started creeping back into him. He stood up, and almost fell over; Inko caught him in her arms, and led him back to the chair. The doctor started saying something, but Izuku couldn't pay attention.

Inko looked down at her son, worry creased her face. This definitely wasn't normal. She could instinctively tell that something was wrong. Dr. Tsubasa typed away on the computer for a moment, before turning to them, seemingly unconcerned, "Now, we need the blood test."

Inko nodded, and the doctor grabbed a syringe. He sterilized the needle, and pressed it into Izuku arm. The needle sunk beneath the skin, but Izuku didn't even react, too out of it to even feeling the sting. Crimson blood went into the syringe, and the doctor pulled the needle out. He cleaned the opening to prevent infection, and place a band-aid over it.

Dr. Tsubasa looked at the two of them, and said, "You should take a seat in the sitting room, while we wait for the results. It will give the kid a break."

Inko nodded, and placed her hands on Izuku's shoulders. She stood up, and he automatically did the same. Inko walked Izuku out into the hallway. Izuku blinked, and looked around. The dazed feeling slowly separated from him. He whispered, "Mama?"

Inko hummed, happy to hear him talking, and asked, "what is it, baby?"

Izuku hesitated, not wanting to hurt her, and said, "I didn't like that feeling. It…everything was so foggy."

Inko's heart broke.
