Chapter 1: Legend of the Cutest Disaster

Chapter Text

The council chamber was in chaos.

“I don’t accept this!”

“She must be captured!”

“Mobilize the entire army even Reinhard if necessary!”

“...Everyone, be quiet.”

Miklotov McMahon pressed his fingers to his temples, enduring what might be the worst headache of his career. Across from him, Bordeaux Zellgef slowly raised a hand, his tired eyes sweeping the panicked nobles.

“…Not even Reinhard van Astrea can defeat her.”

Everyone stopped complaining in the following seconds, reluctantly of course.

Suggestions came anyway... appeal to the Vollachian Empire, involve the Nine Divine Generals, but every solution meant war, and war meant losses.

The people would never accept it.

To them, the so-called “Magical Girl” was a savior.

Yet the facts were undeniable. On her first known appearance in the Kingdom of Lugnica, she leveled half a slum district. She stormed the Royal Selection ceremony, humiliated the royal knights, and brutally defeated Julius Juukulius... all for allegedly intimidating “her Emilia.”

Paperwork piled higher each year, and all is the same... Magical Girl.

“…Damn that Flugel,” someone muttered bitterly. “Calling herself a ‘magical girl’… she might as well be a witch!"

Perhaps there was some truth to that.

In the weeks that followed, she appeared again, this time on the battlefield against the White Whale. The fight that should have taken an army was over in seconds. The sky flashed, a wand was raised, a few oddly “encouraging” words were spoken... and one of the Three Great Mabeasts was reduced to nothing.

Crusch Karsten later testified that she saw a girl with white hair and red eyes standing where the monster had been.

The descriptions pointed to a single culprit: “Flugel,” the so-called cutest magical girl.

Even Wilhelm van Astrea... the widowed husband of the deceased Sword Saint Theresia van Astrea admitted he had never witnessed such power. It was not spirit arts, not conventional magic, not anything he could name.

According to Emilia’s camp, the Great Rabbit was eliminated with the assistance of the “Magical Girl.” After that day, no further sightings of the Mabeast were reported, lending weight to their claim.

A year later, during the Archbishop invasion of the Watergate City of Priestella, she appeared again. Priestella was already in chaos, but her intervention only deepened the scars. In the process of “resolving” the crisis, nearly a third of the city was destroyed. Thousands were left without homes or livelihoods.

To some, she was salvation. To others, she was a witch.

In response, the camps of Emilia and Anastasia Hoshin formed a temporary alliance, aiming to stabilize Priestella and negotiate around the Magical Girl’s unpredictable appearances. The effort collapsed almost immediately, undermined by the very entity they hoped to account for.

"Playedes" was blown up by "Flugel" too.

Beyond the kingdom’s borders, even the Vollachian Empire suffered heavy losses. Their internal civil war ground to a halt as factions united against a single, shared threat:

“The Magical Girl.”

"..."

A grand celebration honored the ascension of Vincent Vollachia to the throne of the Vollachian Empire. Gold shimmered, wine flowed... but the emperor’s mood was far from festive.

“…Hmph. What a horrible day to celebrate.”

Seated upon his golden throne, Vincent’s sharp eyes bore into the kneeling generals.

“And all of you—how did you let that girl escape?”

Yorna Mishigure rose elegantly, fan to her lips, resentment flickering in her gaze.

“No one has the right to hurt her. I will protect her, my daughter.”

Vincent ignored the declaration. Yorna’s fondness for beautiful destruction was well known.

“Mmm~ Little Boss is suppper strong. Better to give up, no?”

Even Cecilus Segmunt, arrogant as ever, nodded lazily.

“Losing more swords isn’t convenient for me~”

“Tsk…”

From the side, Olbart Dunkelkenn croaked, “Why not threaten her family? The girl seemed to have one… at least, that’s what her hopeful eyes said.”

No one acknowledged him. A cold snort cut through the hall instead.

“If you hurt Big Sis, the first thing to roll will be your disgusting head!”

Madelyn Eschart’s childish voice carried unmistakable killing intent.

Balleroy Temeglyph rested a steadying hand on her head.

“She’s right. Hurting our ‘Savior’ family is not something to be discussed.”

“Right, right!” chirped Groovy Gumlet, bouncing lightly in agreement.

At the edge of the gathering, Arakiya remained silent.

At Roswaal Mansion, the air felt unusually heavy.

Roswaal L Mathers watched as Emilia stared absentmindedly out the window, her amethyst eyes tinged with quiet loneliness.

“When can I see her again…”

She rested her chin on her pale hand, sighing softly. “My Little Knight~”

“…Emilia-sama.”

Rem glanced awkwardly toward Roswaal.

“Hm?” Emilia blinked, returning to herself.

Roswaal sighed. “Love is beautiful, but keeping one’s head in the present isn’t such a bad idea either.”

“S-sorry…”

“Anyyyyways~ Is Beatrice still confined to her room?”

“…Mmm.”

“What difference is there between staying in a library and switching to a bedroom, I wonder?”

He rested his head against the table. The usual exaggerated lilt in his voice was faint, even his clown makeup was gone. The weight of recent events had worn him thin.

“…If it is for my teacher… then…” he murmured.

His gaze shifted back to Emilia. If the Gospel spoke true, then today was the day.

'Emilia-sama~ maybe your wish to find her finally be answered.'

His thoughts drifted to Ram, who was calmly setting down the dishes.

“Why let your hair grow?” he asked lightly, though the malice beneath was audible.

Ram met his eyes, her calm pink eyes not blinking.

“…No meaning at all, Roswaal-sama.”

“Oh?”

“Instead of dwelling on pointless thoughts, shouldn’t we be figuring out where Boss is?!”

Garfiel Tinsel’s gruff voice cut through the room.

Roswaal L Mathers only smiled awkwardly.

“Who knooows~? Perhaps love changes people, Garfiel-kun~”

“SHUT UP!”

“C-calm down!”

Otto hurriedly restrained Garfiel before he could lunge forward, though everyone knew that Otto's strength had no weight at all.

“Humph! Be quiet, Garfiel.”

“Okay… okay…”

Frederica Baumann set a large plate onto the table, her green eyes softening. “I wonder what that child is eating right now… She doesn’t seem like the type to eat her vegetables.”

“….”

Petra look through the window like a maiden in a fairy tale.

“Me too… I really want to see her again…”

Rem clasped her hands together, she really wanna dream with her hero again this night.

"Please Od Laguna!"

Crusch Karsten and Wilhelm van Astrea sat across from one another, locked in a tense strategy match. Their sharp eyes never left the board as pieces shifted with deliberate precision.

At their side, Ferris gently set down two cups of tea.

“…Do you believe Flugel is within this kingdom?” Crusch asked calmly.

“…The probability is high,” Wilhelm replied, moving a piece.

A pause.

“…Do you think she is sleeping now?”

Wilhelm’s fingers hovered over the board. His stern expression softened just slightly.

“I hope so. As her grandfather, I would prefer she finishes her studies before sunset.”

Felix’s brow twitched. “…You are still clinging to that ‘grandfather’ delusion?”

Crusch blinked in open surprise.

Wilhelm straightened with quiet dignity.

“Allow this old man his final dreams.”

At a luxurious restaurant in the capital, Anastasia Hoshin dined leisurely across from Julius Juukulius. Crystal glasses shimmered beneath the chandelier light, a quiet contrast to the chaos of recent months.

“…Is it truly wise for you to be out at night?” Anastasia asked lightly. “What if your wounds reopen~?”

“Please do not worry, my lady. Ferris’s treatment leaves no room for concern.”

“Oh? Even the wound to your pride as a knight~?”

“...”

She smiled sweetly. “Or should I say… Founder of the Magical Girl Flugel Fan Club?”

“...”

“Ahahah, it’s only a jo—why are you standing up?”

Julius rose with stiff dignity.

“W-wait, Julius—don’t run!”

"..."

In her chambers, Priscilla Barielle lounged with effortless arrogance, her jade-like legs resting atop Aldebaran, who obediently remained on all fours, serving as an impromptu table.

“That brat truly went around causing trouble in my kingdom.”

“For real, Princess? I hadn’t noticed.”

“Is that sarcasm, you idiot?”

“Ugh—”

With a sharp kick, the one-armed knight was sent skidding into the wall.

Priscilla rose gracefully, lifting a glass of wine.

“If only that child were in my arms… I might finally sleep without disturbance.” Her lips curved faintly. “I do hope that tiny body is eating properly~ When I catch that gremlin…”

“How exactly are you planning to win, Princess?” Al asked from the floor.

She cast him a disdainful glance.

“Why don’t you use that useless head of yours to think a solution?”

In a quiet corner of the capital, Reinhard van Astrea carefully placed his hands against Felt’s back, channeling his newest so-called “Divine Protection of Massage.”

“W-why are you good at ever—mmh?!” Felt squirmed, squeezing her thighs together.

Reinhard smiled faintly. “I am not good at everything. After all… I have already lost once.”

“SHUT UP!” Felt snapped, face flushed as she straightened. “Next time, that Magical Girl won’t get to bully my knight!”

Reinhard’s expression softened, an awkward smile as he gazed at the moon.

"My Lady... I don't believe she's that kind of person."

"Humph, your truly an innocent guy... But I believe she's not that kind of girl too, she just needs correction!"

“SUBARU, MOVE IT! I’M DEDUCTING THIS FROM YOUR SALARY!”

“Please don’t! I’m already emotionally bankrupt!”

Carrying two heavy boxes, Natsuki Subaru sneezed mid-step. “—Ah! Who’s talking behind my back?!”

“Knowing you, kid? Definitely nothing nice,” his boss replied dryly.

“So mean, Boss!”

“Stop calling me that! You’re only here until my son recovers enough to return to work!”

“Critical hit!” Subaru staggered dramatically.

Dressed in a black sports shirt that showed off a surprisingly well-built frame, he set the boxes down and glanced up at the full moon.

“…Who knows? I am pretty popular.”

“In your dreams, boy.”

“Second critical hit!”

He clutched his chest as if struck by an invisible blade.

"E.M.T IS JUSTICE!"

"E-what?"

Before Subaru could start rambling about his beautiful “Emilia,” a blue light swallowed the night sky.

BEEEEEEEEEP

A sharp, metallic signal echoed above the capital.

In an instant, the entire city... no, all four nations were bathed in the same unnatural glow. A vast blue projection stretched across the heavens!

“What?!”

His boss dropped the toothpick from his mouth.

“WHAT THE HELL?!”

“An attack?!”

“HELP—SOMEONE RUN!”

“NO, NO, NO!”

Panic spread like wildfire, shops slammed shut, people screamed... The widespread confusion caused a lot of people to fall.

His boss hurriedly locked the doors, leaving a tired Subaru standing alone outside.

“…What is this bad feeling?”

Unlike the others, Natsuki Subaru simply slipped his hands into his pockets.

Why be afraid?

With his “cheat code,” what in this world could truly threaten him? He was the chosen one.

The protagonist.

With a powerful leap... far too athletic for a former NEET, he landed atop the roof. Even seasoned athletes would have stared in disbelief.

“So~ who’s causing trouble in my world?”

From his pocket, he pulled out a small pink wand and aimed it at the glowing sky. The sight of people crying and running below reflected in his eyes... not fear, but a strange, fading thrill.

“Only I can save them~ Transformation.”

Pink light burst outward.

"Her" body ignited in radiant energy, clothing dissolving into shimmering particles. Sparkles swirled around her like a blooming constellation. Her frame grew smaller, silver-white hair cascaded down her back in gleaming waves. Ribbons of light wrapped around her limbs, forming frilled sleeves, a layered skirt, and a shining gem at her chest.

Feet covered in white socks stepped onto the cold rooftop, small black leather shoes formed on her delicate feet.

The rooftop trembled beneath the final flash.

Where Subaru once stood, a petite magical girl twirled her wand gracefully, white hair flowing under the blue-lit sky.

"Let end the threat and and get back to routine~"

A voice as sweet as sugar and childish sounded through the dark night, the sounds were barely drowned out by the terrified screams of the civilians.
