Frequent Characters
(They're not necessarily in this book as main characters, but they're frequently mentioned. I have a lot of people haunt The Schemer’s narrative.)
The Schemer (Original Character)
She’s the main character and most perspectives will follow her. I’ve developed an unnecessarily large and tragic backstory for her, I plan to reveal it slowly over time as more depth to her character is discovered.
The Eleventh Doctor (Canon Character)
The Doctor is one of The Schemer husbands. They attended the academy simultaneously and got married shortly before they graduated. They had a three-fold wedding; meaning The Schemer, The Doctor and The Master all got married to each other, at the same time. But, they both fell out with The Doctor centuries ago after he abandoned them on Gallifrey. They are both unaware why he left, and don’t care why. To them, the betrayal is too severe to have any possible rationalization. Unlike The Master, The Schemer attempts to retain some form of morality and recognizes that it’s unfair to blame him for something he did thousands of years ago.
Amelia Pond (Canon Character)
The Schemer met Amelia Pond one year after Amy met The Doctor. She sticks around and begins to take her on adventures after noticing her lack of parents and absent Aunt. Although, Amelia had met The Schemer before—her sixth regeneration. Over time she becomes The Schemer’s ward and companion, and they have a parental relationship.
The Master (Canon Character)
The Master is The Schemer’s other husband. They also attended the academy simultaneously and got married shortly before they graduated. They had a three-fold wedding; meaning The Schemer, The Doctor and The Master all got married to each other, at the same time. His relationship is surprisingly healthier than that of The Doctor’s and The Schemer’s. They don’t feel the need to hide their cruelty or schemes from each other, unlike how The Schemer hides her from The Doctor. Despite running away from Gallifrey, The Schemer makes short trips back to visit The Master and her children—occasionally, she takes them away on trips. The Master was the one who convinced her to run away. This and her visits keep him happy, although he doesn't like the arrangement.
Rory Williams (Canon Character)
The Schemer met Rory via Amy. As the parental figure in Amy’s life, she often picked her up from school or helped cook dinner. She knew Rory for weeks before she took him on an adventure. After that she began to become a parental figure for him too.
Synyra (Original Character (sort of? She’s a TARDIS))
Synyra is a type seventy Mark VI TARDIS. The Schemer was given her by the high council so she could bring her brother back to Gallifrey when he would illegally go off world. The Schemer felt wrong taking away her free will, so she leaves her on autonomous control—which gives Synyra the ability to choose where they venture. They have a close friendship, so The Schemer usually lands where she wants, with the exception of when they’ve fallen out.
Melody (Canon (again, only sort of) Character)
Melody travelled with The Schemer, Amy and Rory. The rest is spoilers.
The Dreamer (Original Character)
The Dreamer is The Schemer’s sister-in-law. She’s married to Schemer’s brother, Daxien. However, they were friends at the academy before her brother married her. The Dreamer was named after her ability to dream the future. They often gave her nightmares and The Schemer was the one to calm her down. This resulted in her knowing some of her own future.
Lady Glenniplotitrelundar (Canon Character)
She taught stellar engineering at the Time Academy. However, she personally tutored The Schemer on telepathy for the first few decades at the academy, before Glenniplotitrelundar recommended Professor Chronotis to tutor her. She is mentioned in passing in the novel ‘Original Sin’ written by Andy Lane.
Professor Chronotis / Salyavin (Canon Character)
Professor Chronotis was one of The Schemer’s teachers at the academy and tutored her in telepathy in her later years there. He is a character in the TV story ‘Shada’ written by Douglas Adams.
The Lyrid (Original Character)
The Lyrid is The Schemer’s wife—they married a little before The Schemer married The Doctor and Master. They met through The Splinter, The Schemer’s childhood best friend, and stayed friends for over a century before they began to like each other. They got married for political reasons, but love each other—they’re not in love with each other. The Lyrid is married to The Hope, who she’s in love with. She became a renegade around a century after she graduated the academy, and took The Hope with her. The Schemer has encountered her on multiple adventures at this point.
Millenniabrightshore (Canon Character)
Millennia and The Schemer were friends at The Time Academy through The Monk. Millennia and Rallon joined the Doctor when he stole a TARDIS and travelled to the realm of the Celestial Toymaker. The trip ended in disaster, with Rallon absorbed as the Toymaker's new host body, and Millennia trapped forever as one of his living dolls. On returning to Gallifrey alone, the Doctor was put on trial and expelled from the Academy (but allowed to continue his studies at home, allowing to still gain the title of a Time Lord), and Millennia and Rallon's names were erased from Time Lord history. The Schemer still grieves the loss. Her first appearance was ‘Divided Loyalties’ (Novel) written by Gary Russel.
Rallonwashatellaraw (Canon Character)
Rallon and The Schemer were friends at The Time Academy, they met through Rallon’s lover Millennia. Rallon went with the Doctor and Millennia in a stolen TARDIS in search of the Guardians. Instead, they travelled to the Celestial Toyroom. They found the Celestial Toymaker, who took over Rallon's body and used it as his own, capturing Millennia as his servant. The Schemer still grieves the loss. His first appearance was ‘Divided Loyalties’ (Novel) written by Gary Russel.
Audalia Devaniar (Original Character)
The Schemer had no background with her.
The Magician (Original Character)
The Magician is a renegade Time Lord and an enemy of The Schemer. They grew up together in the same class where they quickly formed a rivalry, which was encouraged by the faculty as this made them both better learners. As they grew older it grew into much more them tormenting each other about their grades, and much more about global domination. They hated each other but found comfort in how consistent it was.
The Splinter (Canon Character without a name or background, so I gave her one (sort of, it gets complicated))
The Schemer met The Splinter only a few days after she was loomed. They were quick best friends, and introduced her to The Master—The Splinter’s brother. They continued to be best friends at the academy, and came up with each other’s names. The Splinter became a renegade abruptly, despite having promised The Schemer that she would always be there after her sister died. They haven’t yet made up.
Aeloradvoratrelundar (Original Character)
Aelora is The Schemer’s sister. They had a very close relationship until she was assassinated in revenge against The Schemer. The Schemer blames herself and was incredibly wrathful after her death.
Daxiendvoratrelundar (Original character)
Daxien is The Schemer’s brother. They were incredibly close before and while attending the academy but drifted apart after Aelora died. He began to steal TARDISes and go on adventures; it was made The Schemer’s responsibility to bring him back to Gallifrey. This led to her attaining a taste for being off-world, and she would often use her TARDIS unconventionally.
Romana (Canon Character)
When Romana returns to N-Space and Gallifrey, she arrives earlier than she did in the Gallifrey audio books. In doing so she begins to complete the paradox. The Schemer convinces her mother, Romana, to arrive on Gallifrey earlier than is legal, and raise and loom her, Aelora and Daxien. The Schemer and Romana had a very close relationship during Schemer’s childhood, but they drifted apart after Aelora died. She still talks to her frequently, but not as much as she did. Romana's first appearance was on ‘The Ribos Operation’ (TV Story) written by Robert Holmes.
Sexy (Canon Character)
Sexy is The Doctor’s TARDIS, she also recognizes The Schemer as one of her pilots. The Schemer talks to her like a person and in return she gets special treatment.
Susan Foreman (Canon Character)
Susan is the biological granddaughter of The Patience, and the step-granddaughter of The Schemer. The Schemer considers her family and they were quite close before she ran away with The First Doctor. The Schemer can feel her telepathically, the reassurance that she’s safe comforts her.
Drax (Canon Character)
Drax was one of The Doctor’s friends at the academy, The Schemer knew him via The Doctor. They’re not particularly close, but they’re friendly. Most of the Doctor’s friends began to drift apart after Millenia and Rallon died. His first appearence is in ‘The Armageddon Factor’ (TV Story) written by Bob Baker and Dave Martin.
