Peter, occupied with the delicious curve of El’s neck, didn’t realize Neal was home until he heard, “Aww. You started without me.”
“Oh, Neal,” El said, voice gratifyingly breathless. “We did try waiting, but –”
Peter added, unaccountably grumpy, “We were together for years before you came along, you know.”
The sunny flash of Neal’s smile made Peter’s heart flutter. It was embarrassing how often that happened to him these days. It’d always reacted that way with El. But now –
Well. Together, they were devastating.
Neal wasted no time shrugging off his suit jacket and unbuttoning his shirt. “How fortunate for me, then.”
“And us,” El said, painfully earnest, and she reached out her hand to draw Neal to them.
Ridiculous. He couldn’t imagine life without them.
“Just c’mere,” he said gruffly. “We’ve been waiting.”
“Have you?” Neal said, delighted. “I do hate to disappoint.”
And, finally, he joined them.
