1979 Swercy content because musical content sadly just doesnt hit the same for me. Mostly just drabbles, none of them are super serious.

Chapter Text

Swan leaned against the boardwalk railing, his gaze drawn to the knife he had taken from Vance earlier that night. It was decent quality, and it looked fairly nice, but it definitely wasn’t Swan’s knife. It didn’t sit in his hand right. The only thing it was good for was getting lodged in Luther’s forearm; other than that, Swan probably wouldn’t touch it again.

Swan looked to his left, and his eyes fell on Mercy, who had taken her heels off and was now holding them in her right hand. The two made eye contact for a moment until Swan looked away, staring at the ocean instead. “So, what’s your plan?”

Mercy shrugged, and she looked down at herself for a second. “I dunno,” she put her hands in her pockets, “put a bra on probably.”

Swan nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. “That sounds like a good place to start,” he said, exhaling through his nose in what seemed to be a ‘laugh’ when Mercy bumped her shoulder against his. Swan took note of the corsage that was now wrapped around her wrist. In all honesty, he hadn’t expected her to wear it, or even keep it, but he liked her wearing it.

Swan looked down at Vance’s switchblade and held it out to Mercy. Her eyebrows raised, and she reluctantly took it from him. “You givin’ this to me?” She questioned, flipping it over in her hand. Mercy had never had anything like this to herself; normally it was just Sully saying she didn’t need something like it because she had him to protect her.

Swan shrugged. “If you want it. Might come in handy.”

Mercy smiled and placed the knife in her pocket. “Might come in handy? ’s there people I might have to fend off in Coney?” She chuckled and glanced around for a moment. Some of the other Warriors were nowhere to be found; she just assumed they’d probably gone back home to sleep and/or patch themselves up. Made her wonder why Swan was still out here.

Swan raised an eyebrow at her words. “You staying in Coney?” He asked, turning to face her slightly.

Mercy was caught off-guard by the change in Swan’s tone. She couldn’t exactly place her finger on the emotion coming from him, but she could tell it was something softer. She liked it. She wanted to see that from him more. “Maybe. You want me to?” Mercy asked with a smile on her face.

Swan’s jaw tightened, and he straightened up a bit. “Maybe I do.” He said.
