Chapter 1: At Destiny's Dawn

Chapter Text

Across the uncountable realms of the Multiverse, in a distant universe long before memory, a small kingdom took root. One among innumerable others, it rose quietly, steadily, and through, stubborn grit and unlikely grace, became the heart of a sprawling, benevolent empire. But at this moment in its ancient beginning, it was simply a strong kingdom. And from its heart, one birth was about to send ripples through futures no mind had yet imagined.

The Kingdom of Llamda had long since outgrown its modest cradle. It's capital, Rhadon, gleamed like a jewel carved from wonder itself.

Bathed in warm afternoon light, the city unfurled like a living tapestry. Towering spires shaped like colossal trees reached skyward, their stone-and-glass branches catching the sun as if trying to snare the light. Seashell and leaf motifs curled along their surfaces, while a handful of buildings drifted serenly above the streets, suspended by ancient magic.

A silver river wound through Rhadon's heart, tumbling in a cascade of tiered waterfalls. Gardens overflowed from courtyards, balconies, even rooftops. Overhead, moons and distant worlds hung so close they felt like watchful guardians.

Inside the palace, cool marble gave way to a study lined with towering shelves and walls etched with age-old artistry. The faint scent of parchment and ink mingled with th elow crackle of a fire. High ing Antor paced across a richly patterned rug, his footsteps muffled as his thoughts ran unbound. Maps and scrolls lay scattered across his ornate desk, remnants of battles won, treaties sealed, and alliances forged. Llamda now stood at the heart of a thriving multicultural alliance, its peace secrued through both steel and diplomacy. All of it had begun the day he rescued the Elven princess who became his queen.

But even the banners of allied kingdoms hanging proudly beside his own crest, a five-pointed star pierced by a sword, couldn't anchor his mind. It kept drifting back to one thing: the child soon to be born.

He had survived battles that should have broken him, stared down kings who wanted his crown, and united peoples who barely trusted their own shadows. Yet somehow this, waiting, unraveled him more than any campaign.

Antor stood well over six feet, shoulders broad, posture straight from a lifetime of discipline. Silver streaks threaded his once-dark hair, giving him an air of seasoned vitality. His grey-blue eyes, keen and penetrating, softened only for those he loved. His face carried the rugged grace of a man who had built his life on purpose. Lines of thought, scars of battle, a brow rarely at ease.

Magic hummed faintly around him, subtle but steady, a quiet promise rather than a threat. Even so, today that power did not still his nerves. Today, the warrior-king felt like a man awaiting his first date and praying he didn't make a fool of himself.

Light from the chandelier cast long gold shadows across the study. A brass telescope stood by the window, pointed toward the cosmos. A reminder of how small even kings truly were. Antor barely glanced at it. His world had narrowed to the palace's birthing chamber and the woman he loved.

He paused, brushing fingers over scattered maps, seeking comfort in the familiar. The high-backed council chairs, withness to negotiations that shaped continenets, sat empty, plainly mocking his inability to command anything happening beyond the next hallway.

Outside, Rhadon buzzed with its late-afternoon rhythm, blissfully indifferent to its king's inner storm. Floating isles drifted past the towering spires, serene as ever. Antor felt anything but. Hope and fear tangled inside him in a knot he couldn't cut through.

For all his titles, he felt small. Not the High King of eight kingdoms. Not a conqueror, not a diplomat, not a redeemer. Just a man about to become a father.

Aryndra had been taken to the birthing chamber only hours earlier. Antor was still pacing when the door swung open. A guard stepped in and saluted.

"Sire, the High Queen requests your presence."

Antor's heart stuttered. "It is time?"

"Soon, Your Majesty. She wishes for yo uto be with her."

He nodded sharply and strode into the hall, guards falling in behind him as anticipation beat in his chest like a second pulse.

The birthing chamber glowed with lamplight and the soft murmur of attendants. Aryndra sat among them, coppery hair clinging to her temples, pain and serenity mingling on her face.

Her deep green eyes, flecked with gold, ancient and wise, held steady even in exhaustion. Her alabaster skin glowed faintly in the warm light. To Antor, she was still every bit as breathtaking, as powerful, as the day he first saw her.

He took her hand, fingers interlacing. Their silence said everything.

As her labour deepened, Aryndra shifted, and the air rippled. A tall, spectral figure appeared, unseen by the attendants but clear to her. Cloaked in shadow, exuding no malice, the being radiated a soothing energy that anchored her spirit and wrapped the moment in quiet significance.

Hours passed. Pain, comfort, breathing, the slow crawl of dawn.

With one final, fierce effort, Aryndra brought forth her child, bathed in a soft, otherworldly glow.

The spectral figure sharpened into form: a tall woman of formidable presence, dark skin illuminated by danwlight, vibrant ginger hair tumbling i waves, emerald eyes that seemed older than time. Aryndra felt the bond isntantly. A connection between this being and her new born child. A link that would outlast centuries, perhaps even worlds. Deep, fated, unbreakable.

Antor leaned close, face alight. "A daughter?"

Aryndra's heart shifted, aching with joy and something heavier. "Yes, my love. And more than we understand."

She attuned to the living magic woven through the world and through the tiny being in her arms. Wonder filled her eyes, tears slipping freely.

"Antor," she murmured, voice trembling with conviction, "this child is extraordinary. She will rule with wisdom and strength for a thousand years... but her path stretches far beyond Llamda. One day she will be reborn in a distant universe, on a world called Earth. She will rise again and again, a warrior forged across ages, to stand against the darkness for all peoples.

Antor swallowed hard. "Are you certain? How do we prepare her for that?"

"We teach her everything," Aryndra whispered. "But we do not burden her with destiny too soon. Her path will be marked by loss, by trials, by great love. She must discover her truth on her own terms. We can only give her the roots."

Her gaze drifted to the corner, where the spectral woman still stood. This time, Antor saw her too. Fear flickered through him, quickly soothed by Aryndra's calm.

"What shall we name her?" he asked.

A soft, knowing smile touched Aryndra's lips. "Her name, in this life, shall be Gràís D’hè MàcBhàtàr. In other lives she will carry other names, relatable... Deanna, echoes of Gràís D’hè, and more, but she will always circle back to her true self when the time is right." Her eyes darkened with foresight. "She is destined to be a champion. The blight upon the shadow that haunts us and will haunt future worlds. I see thousands of rebirths, each one a step toward her final purpose. In every life she will fight to remember who she truly is."

Visions unfolded in Aryndra's mind: centuries of struggle, loss, triumph, and love. The enormity of it pressed on her, but purpose steadied her.

As she held her daughter, the spectral woman stepped forward. The newborn opened her eyes, aware, impossibly aware, and fixed on the figure. Aryndra felt the recognition between them, vast and terrifying in its depth. This ginger-haired woman would one day be her daughter's greatest love... and the source of her deepest grief.

Aryndra's voice dropped to a whisper. "Thank you for watching over her... in the future." The figure inclined her head and faded from sight.

Stillness settled. Only the baby's breathing broke the quiet.

Gràís D’hè MàcBhàtàr's birth was more than a moment. It was the turning of an age, the first heartbeat of a destiny that would outlive kingdoms, worlds, and even universes.

And Llamda, whether ready or not, stood at the dawn of something far greather than itself.
